My name is Cara Sutton. I am an Oklahoma native, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My interest in color, patterns, materials, and architecture began at a young age and has grown into a passion for interior design. I am currently a 4th year interior design student at the University of Oklahoma. During my time in the Gibbs College of Architecture program, I have studied and carried out projects that have grown my skills and knowledge tremendously as a Designer. I am particularly interiested in a position where I can display my skills while learning under talented designers that will increase my experience and creativity in interior design. The works in this portfolio display my desire to create unique, functional, and aesthetically pleasing spaces through research and design.

HOUSE 20X20 HISTORY
House 20X20 was designed by Felipe Assadi and is locaed in Calera de Tango, Chile. it was built in 2005 and represents a sleek and modern design which is to be used by guests. The home received the name of "House 20X20" because the entire exterior of the space is made up of small "20x20" ceramic tiles. The space features glass windows that make up the exterior of the structure. To show even more light within the space, the bedrooms have been placed on the side of the building furthest to the East in order for the guests to be able to appreciate the sunrise. Because the goal of this design was to keep everything as minimal as possible, the floor plan is open and features two bedrooms with bathrooms attached, a kitchen area, large living space, and a larger outdoor dining area that is functionable for the warm summer breezes.

THE NICOL TABLE OBJECTIVE
The objective of this project is to gain knowledge in furniture design by designing and constructing a table influenced by a particular space.
HISTORY In 1965, Bruce Goff designed the Nicol House located in Kansas City, Missouri for a banker who enjoyed entertaining. The design was later added to with the idea of designing a home for a “family of individuals who liked to entertain. This home represents the organic architecture zeitgeist of Frank Lloyd Wright while appreciating geometric shapes. The design integrates glass ashtrays embedded in the front door, small mirrors in the shingles with multiple skylights on the exterior and triangles in the kitchen cabinet, bathroom sinks, and even toilets in the interior. The honeycomb floor plan is centered on an octogonal living area with a conversation pit holding a fire-and-water fountain and has colorful octogonal rooms with triangular windows and a hexagonal swimming pool.
CONCEPT Like the Nicol House, the Nicol Table represents organic architecture with a post-modern twist. The table design follows the key elements and principles of the Nicol House while serving as an item with function. The table represents movement through the partially angled design. The triangular form that is created within the design reflects geometric shapes used throughout the interior and exterior of the Nicol House. The finish will add character to the piece and display color while still using "available and natural materials" to follow the main idea of organic architecture.

LIGHTING EXHIBITION OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to gain knowledge in lighting design by designing and constructing a light fixture inspired by our choice.
CONCEPT This design is an end table lamp that is suitable for hospitality and residential spaces. This lamp is inspired by nature and has both a modern and organic twist. Deep warm colors and natural materials will be incorporated to bring out the conceptual design aspects. Texture and movement will be used from the top of the design to the bottom to help place emphasis on the luminance and tie the design together.
