ILIGAN CITY –Internally displaced persons (IDPs) are set to return to their homes in the four barangays of Marawi City on December 9, 2017. The homecoming date has been made possible after the local government has successfully finished its community-mapping and the list of residents has been counterchecked with the database of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The third Kambalingan, a Maranao term for homecoming, will include barangays Dulay Proper, Dulay West, Malimono and Guimba. Around 2,474 families are 02 - 08 December, 2017

expected to return to their communities after 6 months in evacuation centers or in other places of refuge. There are 8 barangays included in the third series of Kambalingan. The other four will only be opened for homecoming when the BLGUs are able to submit a clean list, Asec Felix Castro, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Field Office Manager, told the Philippine Information Agency Iligan Communications Command Center (PIA-ICCC).

November 2017, there were nine and 10 barangays who were allowed to return to their homes, respectively. Out of the 96 barangays in Marawi City, records show that families in 21 barangays did not leave their homes.
