TFBM pursues stakeholders’ participation in rehab plan By: Josh Angelo Bata
MARAWI CITY – The Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) conducted a consultative meeting with the Ulamas at the Marawi municipal hall on December 28, in an effort to continuously provide platform for stakeholders’ participation in the rehabilitation plan of the war-torn city. Around a hundred Ulamas gathered at the conference room as passionate exchanges of ideas and concerns began just before midafternoon.
“As government agencies are now ‘all-hands-on-deck,’ signaling the initial stages of rehabilitation and recovery of Marawi City, especially those in the 24 most affected barangays, dialogues or consultative meetings were some of the efforts of policy makers and government officials to be inclusive and to provide the table for stakeholders and community leaders to air their concerns on the upcoming rehabilitation plan of the national government,” the TFBM chair said.
The consultative meeting was an offshoot of the stakeholders’ meeting with different sectors on Nov. 25 in Marawi and the dialogue with President Rodrigo “Roa” Duterte and TFBM Chair and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Chief Eduardo del Rosario on December 6 in Malacanang. NATIONAL NEWS MANILA - The Philippines today said the decision of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to resume talks with South Korea is the first step towards what it hopes would be the start of meaningful dialogue that would lead to peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula. “The Philippines is hoping that the decision of the DPRK to resume official talks with the Republic of Korea would lead to meaningful progress in efforts to achieve not only the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula but also peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the Asia-Pacific,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. This development came a day after both sides engaged in telephone calls following North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s expression of hope during his annual New Year’s day address that a North Korean delegation participate in the February Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Secretary Cayetano also thanked members of the international community that have contributed to the efforts to bring both parties back to the negotiating table, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China.
Secretary Cayetano issued the statement hours after South Korea’s Unification Ministry announced Pyongyang’s acceptance of Seoul’s proposal to hold official talks on 9 January 2018.
