PMO-SURIGAO HOLDS BLOODLETTING ACTIVITY, FLU VACCINATIONS WITH LOCAL HEALTH OFFICE

The Port Management Office of Surigao (PMO Surigao) of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has partnered with the Surigao City Health Office to conduct a bloodletting activity to augment the dwindling blood supply amid increasing demand from patients suffering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Around 40 blood donors, including port police operatives, PMO employees, dockworkers and outsourced personnel and Philippine Navy reservists from the 72nd Naval Group Reserve had volunteered and donated during the one-day event held recently at the PreDeparture Area of the Port of Surigao Passenger Terminal Building. “This blood donation drive is PMO Surigao’s response to the call of the local health authorities to provide life-giving blood. In this season of love, peace and joy, there is perhaps no better way to show our compassion and love for our fellow Filipinos than by donating one’s own blood,” said PMO Acting Port Manager Froilan Caturla.

Meanwhile, the City Health Medical Team also administered onsite around 100 doses of influenza vaccines to willing and qualified individuals.

The bloodletting and flu vaccination activity was organized by PMO Surigao’s Administrative Division, in partnership with the City Health Office of the Surigao City Government. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
