Government agencies, media hand-over relief assistance to remote village in AgSur town

Despite the distance from the municipal proper of San Francisco in the province of Agusan del Sur, the local residents particularly the youth in Purok 8, Barangay New Visayas were delighted to have received different sorts of relief assistance that have reached their place.

This initiative was made possible by the individuals from the provincial government of Agusan del Sur with the local government unit of San Francisco, media entities and other concerned government agencies that travelled in kilometers just to hand in the food packs, snacks, seedlings, toys, shoes and slippers for the residents.

The beneficiaries were thankful for the aid extended to them from the government and partners, especially during this time where the community quarantine is still strictly implemented.

“We are happy to have visited by the personnel from the different government offices and media, who brought us good news and relief assistance that we need. We really appreciate the effort of our government and the private sector who care for us and our welfare,” said alias “Pedro”, a former rebel.

Alias Pedro also requested that the local government give due attention in providing them concrete roads, so transportation going to and from the area would be more easier and convenient.

“We are humbly requesting our provincial government officials to help us also in developing the roads here in our place, so that we would experience easier and convenient transportation,” added Pedro.

According to Richard Grande, president of Agusan del Sur Media Club, most of the residents are family 34

members or relatives of the former rebels, who are now active supporters of the government and are constantly helping in the ways to address the problem on insurgency, among others.
