The local government unit (LGU) of Claver in the province of Surigao del Norte has imposed a 14-day Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on the premises of a mining company following the confirmation of positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among personnel of the firm.

Last June 22, the Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH13) confirmed eight Covid-19 positive cases among the workers at the NPMSI.
“Intensified contract tracing was done by a THPAL physician in coordination with LGU-Claver on June 24 and initial Rapid Antibody Testing was likewise performed to persons with close contacts with the eight confirmed cases,” Gokiangkee said in the Order.
Gokiangkee added that the decision to put the THPAL under ECQ is contained in an agreement between the LGU and the company, stating that the borders of THPAL will be closed during the 14-day period allowing only skeletal workforce in order not to hamper the operations of the company.
During the period, disinfection will be conducted in all areas inside the compound of the mining firm, including its barracks in Barangay Hayanggabon.
Contact tracing will also continue during the period to be conducted by the company and the LGU of Claver.
The skeletal workforce, while under the 14-day ECQ, shall observe the minimum protocol standards such as the wearing of facemask and the
