SURSUR TOWN MAYOR JOINS MEDICAL TEAM FOR BAYANIHAN, BAKUNAHAN

Aimed to serve her constituents as a medical health practitioner by profession and the mayor of the small town of Cortes, Surigao del Sur province, Dr. Josie Bonifacio joined the medical team for the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” National COVID-19 Vaccination Days.

The mayor along with her daughter, Dr. Maria Criselda B. Uy, joined the team to fast-track the screening process of the local constituents who were patiently waiting for their turn to avail the free vaccine for COVID-19 in the Cortes Municipal Gymnasium.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has reported that 855 people in Cortes town or 106.88% were vaccinated during day one, exceeding their daily target of 800 while a total of 1,302 people or 162.75% were given shots against COVID-19 on the second day. The numbers for the third and final day of the campaign are yet to be disclosed.

The town has a total population of 16,804, the report said. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
