DILG leads gift-giving for child victims of violence

Silvosa the relevance of this year’s commemoration of the National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW), which aims to show a unified approach of solidarity with the victimsurvivors and the public stakeholders. Seventeen (17) girls from the Bethany Home of the Missionary Sisters of Mary located at Brgy. Baan, Butuan City received various gifts on October 9, 2020, while 28 boys from the Home for Boys in Brgy. Antongalon received the same on October 12, 2020. Faceto-face interfacing with social distancing and health safety protocols were strictly observed.

The DILG and PNP-led congregation distributed gift packs containing food, clothing items, and hygiene kits to the children in need of special protection for their daily upkeep while staying in the shelters. The PPOC also helped in the livelihood programs of the shelters by availing their products, such as flowering plants and succulents. “Guide and raise your children well enough to deal with the challenges of life so they won’t be tempted to get involved in any illegal activity. Parents should take care of their children by fulfilling their needs and by giving them due attention because they can only get it from home,” Provincial Director Ellen Vee P. Chua of DILG Agusan del Norte said in her message. The series of activities also form part of the PPOC Immersion Activities spearheaded by the DILG Agusan del Norte as PPOC Secretariat through the PTF-ELCAC, as sourced from the Provincial Peace and Order Council fund.
