DA trains Bayabas farmers for Low-cost feed formulation

The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 13 (DA-RFO 13) through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program conducted a training for farmers on Low-Cost Feed Formulation for Chicken Growers beneficiaries in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur on October 10, 2022, held at the Kabana Betina Hall, in barangay Magobawok of the said municipality.
The participant -beneficiaries are members of the Balete Chicken Growers Association (BaCGA) and Cabugo Chicken Production Association (CaCPA) all in Bayabas town.
The activity aimed to help the SAAD beneficiaries to produce feeds that will sustain them in the long run. The process will help them lessen farm expenses thereby increasing their income as the source of livelihood.
The participants were taught by the invited resource speakers the proper mixing ratio of feed ingredients as each feed type is formulated to suit the nutrient needs of the animals according to age.
Present during the activity were Mayor Apolonio B. Lozada, Provincial Agriculturist Office chief Marcos Quico, Mun. Agriculturist Office chief Geralyn B. Guibao and SAAD Staff.
Meanwhile, the Resource Speakers who share their knowledge with the participants are Gemma Asufre - Regional Focal Person of the Animal Feeds and Plant Health Development Program, and Ms. Luningning Racho - Chemist II of the Regional Chemical Feed Laboratory, and Mr. Neciforo B.
