29th Infantry “Matatag’’ Battalion welcomes new Commanding Officer
The 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion (29IB), 4th Infantry (DIAMOND) Division, Philippine Army (PA) welcomed its new Commanding Officer during the Change of Command Ceremony with MGen Wilbur C. Mamawag, PA, Commander of 4th Infantry (DIAMOND) Division, Philippine Army as presiding officer held at Headquarters, 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion in P-4 Barangay del Pilar, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

Col. Jason M. Saldua, the outgoing Commanding officer commended the men and women of MATATAG Battalion for their efforts and accomplishments they have shown in pursuit of internal peace and security operations in Northeastern Mindanao most particularly in Agusan del Norte.
In his speech, “Your hard work catapulted us into success amidst hurdling the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic and even ferocity of natural calamities like Bagyong Odettte that brought challenges to everyone. You remain true to your moniker “Matatag”.

Ltc Cresencio C. Gargar is the new Commanding Officer of 29th Infantry “Matatag’’ Battalion. On his speech, “I would like to express my profound gratitude and appreciation for the trust and confidence for designating me as the Commanding Officer of 29th Infantry “. As your new Battalion Commander, I will intensify the programs and activities with our partner stakeholders to attain a common goal of securing peace and development in the area and I will do my best through the help of the troops, he said.
Further, MGen Mamawag called on the members of Communist Terrorists Group to return to the mainstream society. “Our door is wide open to accept our CNT brothers and sisters to surrender and return to the government side, so they can be with their families and live with peace. Let us give peace of chance. Let us regain the hopes and dreams of the people of Caraga,” he said.
