NCR reaches 50% of target for 1st booster coverage

About 5,067,530 Filipinos in the National Capital Region have received their first booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of Sept. 23.

In a statement Wednesday, Department of HealthMetro Manila Center for Health Development regional chief Gloria Balboa said the tally is 50.17 percent of the fully vaccinated population in the region.

“This achievement would not have been possible without a collaborative effort among the DOH-MMCHD staff, the DOH-Central Office, the region’s health workforce and institutions, all the region’s 17 local government units as well as all partner stakeholders such as national government agencies, non-government organizations, civil society organizations, religious groups, and the rest of the private sector,” she said.

The number of fully vaccinated senior citizens has reached 1,047,250 or 90.73 percent of the target, she added.

As of Sept. 26, more than 73 million Filipinos are fully vaccinated. Of the total count, around

6.8 million are senior citizens, 9.9 million are adolescents, and five million are children.
