According to Governor Dale B. Corvera, PPOC chairperson, they were given recognition because of their contribution in securing the borders and also for them to be more inspired in doing their jobs. “They are not only giving their time and efforts, but they also sacrifice to secure the province from the threat of COVID19,” said Governor Corvera.

Police Captain Jennifer Ometer, chief of police of the Carmen Municipal Police Station located at the border of the province, was thankful to the provincial government for recognizing their efforts. “I did not expect this recognition, because we are only doing our duties and responsibilities in securing the Agusanons not only from the threat of COVID-19 but as well as from the bad elements of the society,” she said.

Ometer called on her fellow frontliners to continue to work despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, “because the community is depending on us for protection.”

Roberto Calubag, disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) officer of Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte, also expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for the recognition and appreciation accorded to them. The municipality of Kitcharao is an entry point to the province from the province of Surigao del Norte. The recognition was also attended by the Second District Representative Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. AmanteMatba, other officials and members of the council.

It can be recalled that the Provincial DRRM Council has also recognized the more than 800 frontliners in the province for their bravery in fighting the COVID-19. This was in time with the celebration of the National Disaster Resilient Month where they were able to receive gift packs, food packs and thank you notes from the youth of the province.
