RAIN HAUS Multiple Sclerosis Spa 6 weeks, 4,600 sf

Located at the base of Mount Rainier in Buckley, Washington Rain Haus is driven by the concept of tectonic plates. When two tectonic plates collide it causes one to dive beneath the other in a process called subduction.

It parallels their experience to the formation of volcanic forms, discovering a force and strength underneath that the patients learn to project outwardly in their day-to-day lives. Washington’s Cascade Mountains, including Mt. Rainer are formed by the San Juan fault line on the Pacific Coast.

These are compressional boundaries which are the result of volcanoes rising along the edge of the continent.

The push and pull of the fault lines, one submerged beneath the other allows for the creation of new spaces above the surface.

Inspired by this process of collision and tension below the surface as well as between water and land the space suggests users to shift their perspective throughout their journey with multiple sclerosis.

NEXT Real Estate Office 8 weeks, 12,550 sf

Located in Denver, Colorado, NEXT is a global commercial real estate and project management firm driven by the concept of skiing. From all across the country people are drawn to Colorado for ski season with its average 300 inches of snow per year, 29,758 acres for skiing, and 22 resorts.

The experience itself encourages individuals to get “into the flow, allowing them to lose themselves in the activity focusing on their environment rather than everything else going on in their lives. NEXT draws inspiration from the motion of skiing and the great outdoors, connecting the company’s approach of well-being to the activity of skiing.

Skiing has been proven to have positive effects on the well-being and quality of life of people. The physical benefits of carving through the mountain supports endurance, heart circulation, balance, and coordination.

Similar to the environment and people skiers immerse themselves around, NEXT acts as a motivational team which encourages users, promotes positivity, and connects people together.

It encourages playfulness, bringing people of all ages and cultures together.

NEXT uses bold accent colors within the space to highlight the unique building style of Breckenridge. The exterior of each building is painted primarily using red, blue, and green tones.

The office has a blended vibe of the historical parts of Breckenridge while staying true it’s natural surroundings. As seen above the work cafe a ceiling feature is used to tie in the motion of skiing and the natural curves seen in the landscape as well as the mountains.

This same approach is seen in NEXT with the strong use of red and blue to highlight key features and important spaces.

16

People are naturally drawn to social spaces with appealing attributes such as comfortable seating, central gathering spaces, inspiring architectural elements and rich materiality. A range of fixed and mobile technologies support individual and group work. NEXT supports movement throughout the day and encourage healthy postures that help workers stay comfortable and energized.

STATION AVE Co-Working Office 5.5 weeks, 10,000 sf

Located at 600 Massachusetts Avenue in D.C. Station Ave is a co-working office inspired by the local metros lines. The area surrounding the site is a vibrant environment filled with restaurants, highend retail, lodging, and entertainment facilities.

In order to incorporate these values in the office space, the design supports various types of workers, creating breakout spaces for employees to refocus. This allows users to be more productive, giving them different space options appropriate for working, socializing, relaxing, and collaborating.

The program supports a tech startup space that will be leased to a young tech company in addition to the community spaces, benching systems, and private offices that can be reserved by other remote employees.

Collaboration with Yasmine Hasan

Station Ave values a healthy balance between work and life, maintaining 3 core values: sustainability, efficiency, and quality of life.

SITE: 600 MASS AVE 18

KITCHEN & LOUNGE

Employees are immediately greeted by the receptionist upon arrival at the office. Here they can schedule new reservations for private office, benching, or conference space. Directly behind the reception is the kitchen & lounge space where employees can gather together. This is the perfect zone to do some light work, use as a touchdown space, or network with other young workers. RECEPTION AXON 19

The individual/group collaboration is placed closest to the windows to give each employee an equal opportunity to daylight in this space. These seating arrangements and work nooks are for everyone. Drop-in benching and the medium conference room are also close to the windows to provide the most amount of sunlight to these areas.

Each line is unique to it’s own destination and takes a different route, however, each of the lines intersect together at some point. Station Ave hosts employees from different backgrounds, careers, and goals, yet they are able to interact with one another through these “intersections” and community areas.

CONCEPT The concept for the Boutique Hotel is inspired by Melbourne’s long passion for music. Melbourne is the live music capital of the world. For every 9,502 residents Melbourne has one music venue, making this city great for music lovers.

Music sets up sonic patterns and regularities that stimulates the brain, releasing dopamine. Through various combinations of sound frequencies music provokes emotions of happiness, excitement, and nostalgia.

In 2017 alone, greater Melbourne played host to over 73,605 advertised gigs and saw a total live music attendance of 17.5 million people. Music is at the heart of the city.

The hotel will use visual representations of sound to evoke the feeling of music. The experience of a concert or hearing a song for the first time is one of a kind. This hotel strives to embody the feeling of music and all the emotions that come with it.

People love music because it makes them feel good. It has been shown to reduce anxiety, promote better sleep, and improve mood.

This will be a retreat for users to briefly get away, re-energize, and de-stress.

PAINTINGS Medium: Watercolor, Acrylic

Macro paintings of elements in nature show my strong attention to detail and the level of craft I strive put into my work.

Art has always been an important part of my life for as long as I remember and is something I am extremely passionate about.

For all my watercolor paintings I use photographs I have taken personally to capture the most realistic setting.

Through my love for art I have found a love for interior design. I believe great design is art and has the power to positively impact people.

I use high pigmented colors in my paintings to add layers which create contrast and texture. Not only do I enjoy painting realistic images, but I have an appreciation for the abstract form in my acrylic paintings.

I hope to express my artistic style and creativity throughout all my projects and carry this passion into my professional life.

Painting using acrylic gives me the freedom to have fun with my art and explore various color combinations.
