PRESS RELEASE – MONDAY, 22 AUGUST 2011 APPOINTMENT OF AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND SECRETARIAT TO THE CARBON MARKET INSTITUTE The board of the Carbon Market Institute (CMI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Tournier as executive director. Tournier will be assuming responsibility from Dr Tony Beck who has been acting as interim executive director since the CMI commenced operation in January 2011. Dr Beck remains a director of the CMI. CMI Chairman Les Hosking said he looks forward to welcoming Tournier in September 2011. “As the former sales director of South Pole Carbon Asset Management and business

programme, Tournier brings to the CMI a wealth of domestic and international carbon market expertise,” said Hosking. “He will lead a group of talented professionals which round out the Secretariat.” 

The CMI is a national membership based, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee with an independent board and management. Building on the networks, partnerships and services established by the Asia-Pacific Emissions Trading Forum (AETF) over the last 12 years, the CMI will assist Australian business in meeting the challenges and opportunities associated with the developing national and international carbon markets. Currently the Institute’s membership comprise over 150 companies and organisations with wide ranging interest in the emergence of carbon and related markets. Members are eligible for a range of benefits including attendance at member seminars, market briefings and networking events, as well as the receipt of the CMI’s regular publications and research reports.
