Strengthening international carbon markets Australia’s peak body for carbon market professionals has welcomed today’s announcement by the Australian Government about strengthening collaboration with both the European Commission and New Zealand Government on carbon markets and advancing linking of the schemes. “Any bilateral agreements that can improve both market liquidity and reduce business compliance costs in a more efficient and cost effective manner will always be welcomed,” says Carbon Market Institute executive director Mike Tournier. “It also creates potential new opportunities for the emerging Australian carbon market to engage with these international trading schemes and create new export revenues through linking.”
