Travel Documents

PASSPORT & ID REQUIREMENTS

What travel documents do I need to sail?

Everyone in your travel party, including babies and children, must present proof of citizenship before boarding the ship.

Passports

A passport is your safest and simplest form of documentation because it is valid in any scenario Depending on the situation, it's either mandatory or good to have but not absolutely necessary If you don't have a passport and you're a US citizen traveling from a US port, you're traveling in the Western Hemisphere, and you're on a so-called closed-loop cruise (embarking and debarking from the same US port on the same ship) you may be able to use alternative documentation.

Alternatives for US Adults who don't have a passport

A US Passport Card: This limited-use document lets you enter the US by land or sea from within the Western Hemisphere. A new card costs $55 for adults ages 16 and over versus $135 for a first-time US Passport book

An Enhanced Driver's License (EDL): An EDL provides proof of both identity and citizenship in addition to certifying you to drive. Currently only available to adults in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington.

A Trusted Traveler Program Card: (NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST)

A Uniformed Services ID Card: for US military traveling on official orders.

As your travel agent, I recommend that all members of your party obtain passports if possible. This is the safest way to travel and will allow you to return to the US at any time in the event of an unexpected emergency.

CRUISE SUCCESS TIPS

PACKING SUGGESTIONS

Refillable Water Bottles

Staying hydrated on your cruise is an important part of having an incredible vacation. I recommend carrying refillable water bottles that you can fill at water stations throughout the ship.

Cruise Approved Power Bar

Most cruise ship cabins have limited electric plugs (Some only have two!) If you're bringing electronic items like phones, ipads, speakers, go-pros, and anything else, you'll really want more plugs.

Expandable hanging shelf

I would recommend that you bring an expandable hanging shelving unit to hang in the closet for extra space for folded clothing These fold flat in your suitcase.

TRANSPORTATION

Getting from the airport or hotel to Port

DISNEY TRANSPORTATION FROM AIRPORT OR WDW HOTEL

If you're flying to Orlando, you can use DCL's shuttle service to get to Port Canaveral. It is recommended that your flight into Orlando arrives by 1:45pm and your flight out depart after 11:30am

Disney's shuttle service is certainly convenient, but you will be paying a premium for this convenience If you're taking a DCL cruise after staying at an on-site Disney-owned resort at Walt Disney World and you've booked transportation from the resort to the ship through Disney, cruise reps can transfer your luggage directly from your hotel room to your ship's stateroom

From Orlando:

$78 per person, round trip, free for kids under age 3 $39 per person for just one direction

SERVICE SERVICE CURRENTLY CURRENTLY SUSPENDED SUSPENDED

THIRD-PARTY SHUTTLE SERVICES

A cost-effective option to get from the airport to your hotel or to the port are ride-sharing services Uber or Lyft This is a great option if your traveling party has up to 4 passengers. If you have more, consider using an alternative. Thirdparty options to consider are:

Mears Transportation: Mears offers private town cars, SUVs, and van shuttles. They also have an app that allows you to track your driver's location and may of fer discount codes or coupons (855-463-2776)

Happy Limo: Happy Limo can provide service from the airport or WDW to port in a range of vehicle types. (407-856-1280)

EMBARKATION

Getting Onboard

Check-in early by downloading the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. The app expedites boarding, allowing guests to select a designated arrival that helps cut down on crowds.

Bye Bye, Baggage!

When you arrive at the terminal, you’ll hand over any large luggage that you’ve tagged with the provided arrival documents to the porters. But you’ll keep your carry-on luggage. Checked bags are safely delivered to your stateroom that day, freeing you from lugging them

What some first-time cruisers don’t realize is many activities are up and running right when you board, so it’s helpful to plan ahead and pack your carry-on with must-haves like sunscreen and shades

"First Day" Packing Suggestions

Swimsuits

Flip-flops or water shoes (the deck can get hot)

Sunglasses

Sunscreen

Cover-up

Hats

Reading material, iPad, videogames or other entertainment Camera, if you aren’t using your phone Medications you might need between noon and dinnertime Change of clothes for dinner, if what you wear to board the ship isn’t reasonable (though it almost certainly is fine, as long as it’s not a swimsuit).

Explore the Ship

Once on the ship, get familiar with a bow-to-stern stroll. Be sure to use the app's map to help you navigate, maximizing every minute! Much of the ship will be welcoming guests, so consider checking out the gym and spa while you're exploring.

If you're hungry, visit any of the casual restaurants. You can also preview the main dining room and specialty restaurants that will open later that evening.

Lastly, check out the ship's venues and performance schedule By the afternoon, your stateroom should be ready!

Safety First

Before departing on each cruise, all DCL ships conduct a mandatory assembly drill for guests, providing important instructions on what would be required of passengers in the event of an actual emergency. Crew services are suspended during the drill, and attendance for guests is required DCL uses a state-of-the-art automated system to account for guests checked-in at assembly stations, so please be respectful of this process by attending, listening, and paying close attention.

Muster assembly drills are an important part of compliance with US Coast Guard and international safety regulations

Everyone on board will be notified when the drill is to begin and everyone is required to take part.

CONTINUED COMMON QUESTIONS

How long before we can go to our room and get our luggage? Once on the ship, you have time to explore while the stateroom host/ess get rooms turned around Typically you will be able to get to your cabin about 1/1:30pm and luggage is delivered anytime before dinner. Please be patient as they have lots of bags to deliver.

I suggest that you take anything that you will need for the first several hours onboard in a carry-on bag with you, medications, sunblock, etc. If you think your children will want to swim right away, pack the family swimsuits in the carryon bag.

What are Wave Phones?

Each room will have two Wave Phones. These phones will allow you stay in touch with your party around the ship and they will also work on Castaway Cay. They will not work on land at other ports of call. These phones can make calls and text. Read the instructions for these carefully so you know how to use them. If you have children at the nursery or kid’s clubs, this is how the crew will reach you if you are needed

You can also use the Wave Phones to place ship to shore calls directly from your stateroom. Ship to shore rates will apply and will be charged to your stateroom. (quite expensive) The Disney Cruise app chat feature can also be used to keep in touch with other guests.

EMBARKATION

CONTINUED COMMON QUESTIONS

How do I pay for things on the ship?

When you checked in online, you were given some choices to pay for any onboard purchases. Anything you purchase onboard will be charged to your ship board account using your room key card. You can’t use cash onboard the ship for the most part and you won’t need it. If you would like to see a listing of your shipboard charges at any time, stop by the guest services desk and they can print you a copy. Otherwise, you will be presented with a copy of all of the charges on your last morning onboard. Check this carefully before you get off the ship and question any charges you to not recognize. Questioning charges is extremely difficult once you return home.

What is a Navigator/ digital Navigator? Is there an app for that?

There is an app for that! Once you board, you will be given instructions as to how to download a free app that is a digital version of the navigator described above. You will be able to use that digital app while on the ship at no charge to your phone.

Is there a professional photographer onboard?

You will find Disney photographers throughout the ship at special events like meals and character meet and greets. They will take pictures of your family at these events and you can see the pictures at Shutters, the onboard photo gallery. You can also arrange for a private photo session for your family. You are under no obligation to buy the photos and you can always take your own if you prefer but the photographers are not allowed to take photos of you with your camera Once you leave the ship, your pictures will be discarded You cannot access them once you leave the ship

CABINS

What does our room steward do for us?

Your room steward will most likely introduce him or herself on the first day. They bring luggage to your room, visit your room several times a day to keep your room tidy and replace towels and toiletries, make the beds, turn down the beds in the evening, they pull down any hidden bedding that you need such as the pull down beds, bring your Daily Navigator They can also bring you ice if needed. Ask if there is anything you require.

I have heard that some people decorate their door? What is this about?

Some guests bring aboard personalized items to place on their door to give their room some personality. Stateroom doors are made of metal so magnets work well to stick anything that you have created at home Create your item and attach magnets to the back. Even better if you laminate your designs first. Tape is not permitted as it ruins the paint job on the doors. Some guests get very creative with this activity Google “Disney Cruise Door Decorations” to get ideas.

What is a fish extender?

Each room has a fish decoration outside the door that sticks out from the wall This is where the crew can leave messages/envelopes for you Many guests create something decorative and personal to hang from the fish and these are called fish extenders. Some even add pockets and make it a game with other guests to leave little gifts in them. This is all optional. Search “Disney Cruise Fish Extender” on Google to see some examples.

CABINS

Is there internet access onboard the ship?

Yes, satellite internet is available in your stateroom for a fee. Visit the guest services desk to purchase internet data in packages. The bigger the package, the cheaper per data bit. The internet packages are not cheap so plan ahead to use as little internet as possible.

Are there outlets in my stateroom?

Do I need a special adaptor? Your room is equipped with several outlets. To keep cords off the floor and easily accessible, you may wish to bring a power strip to plug into the outlet on the desk so that all of your electronics can be charged in one convenient place.

Where is smoking permitted?

SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED INSIDE YOUR STATEROOM OR ON THE PRIVATE STATEROOM VERANDAHS.

Smoking is permitted on: -Deck 4, port side, aft, on the Promenade Deck from 6pm-6am. -Deck 12, port side, aft the outdoor area that is accessible through the Meridian Lounge -Deck 13, forward port side by the Currents Bar

Please verify this before lighting up

...SETTING SAIL

Get ready for all sorts of excitement at the happiest celebration at sea! A jubilant deck party builds anticipation as images of the fun to come are featured on the Funnel Vision you might even see yourself on the big screen!

It’s a magical introduction to your vacation as confetti and streamers rocket through the air, shooting skyward while the Pinocchio classic "When You Wish Upon a Star" bellows from the ship's blow horn And as the party comes to an end, you know the fun is just beginning. So, be sure to check the Personal Navigator the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter to explore all the excitement that awaits you on your cruise vacation

Bon Voyage!

DECK PARTIES

What are the deck parties like?

The deck parties are spectacular, open air music and dance extravaganzas that happen on the upper open air deck of the ship. Dance, sing and party alongside your favorite Disney Characters and Disney Cruise Cast members in this high energy activity There is usually a Sailing Away Celebration as the ship pulls out of port on the first day and Pirates in The Caribbean Party. There may be others offered on your cruise as well. Check your Daily Navigator for times. These are not to be missed parties!

What is Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party?

This is not offered on every cruise so check yours or ask your agent if this is going to take place on your cruise. If it is offered, check your Daily Navigator for the day and time this will be happening on your cruise. Consider packing Pirate Gear, costume, eye patch, hat, earing, etc. for this event! Many families, including adults, dress up for this party. This exciting, family friendly deck party features your favorite Disney characters as guests become members of Mickey’s Pirate Crew! The skies will explode with the only fireworks at sea during this music filled celebration After the fireworks, the party continues with Club Pirate as the dance party goes way into the night A special Pirate buffet is presented in the nearby restaurant; check your Daily Navigator for details.

DON'T MISS OUT ON THE SAIL AWAY PARTY!!

Held shortly after the muster drill

...DISNEY CHARACTERS

There will be many opportunities for you and your children to meet a wide variety of Disney characters.

Characters will appear at the deck parties and shows.

Character meet and greets will all be listed in your Daily Navigator. If the Daily Navigator says that a character will be appearing from 1-1:30pm, get there earlier than 1pm. The crew member assisting that character will close the line once it exceeds the number of children that can be seen in that time period. Sometimes the line will close before the character even arrives. You can take pictures, ask for autographs and a Disney professional photographer will be on hand to take professional pictures.

There may be some special meet and greets or character meals available. If these are offered, they are a specially ticketed event and you must secure a ticket as soon as you board the ship in order to get one. Check out the Navigator that you are provided with while waiting to board the ship It will include instructions for getting one of these tickets.

Rotational Dining

A DISNEY CRUISE LINE INNOVATION

What is Rotational Dining?

One innovation DCL brought to the cruise industry is the concept of Rotational Dining With rotational dining, you will visit one of three standard restaurants on each different night of your cruise. As you change restaurants, your server teamyour waiter, beverage person, and head waiter - all move with you. You will eventually create a relationship with them as they learn your dining preferences and get to know your family!

How does rotational dining work?

Rotational restaurants have two dinner seatings, typically at 5:45pm and 8:15pm. Because Disney sets the schedule, there's no need to make reservations each night You can request either the earlier or later seating when booking your trip or once aboard the ship. You can also request changes to your rotation, specifying which restaurants you visit each night.

On cruises four nights or longer, you'll repeat at least one of the three standard restaurants The menus will change each night, but the decor remains the same

Instead of repeating a restaurant, you may wish to make a reservation at an adult-dining venue for an extra charge.

Guests are able to request a particular order of dining rotation if they so desire If you have a restaurant you know your family will love and you'd like to ensure you repeat during your rotation, be sure to reach out to DCL directly so you can express your preferences.

Are there any other options besides rotational dining?

An option you can always keep in mind is to dine at the large restaurant on the pool deck. In the evening, these venues transform into a dining experience; including your food being brought to you by a server

CONTINUED COMMON QUESTIONS

What beverages am I charged for?

I heard there is a free beverage station. All of the non-alcoholic beverages ordered at all meals and buffets are included with your cruise. There is a selfserve beverage station on Deck 11, open 24 hours a day, with free soft drinks, water, lemonade, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. There are disposable cups there or you can bring your own mug to fill We recommend that you bring a mug since the cups provided are small. All non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages ordered at any bar, lounge or room service will be charged to your room. Alcoholic beverages ordered with meals will also be charged to your room

Are there adult only restaurants?

Yes, both ships offer adults exclusive dining for guests age 18 and older who are looking for a more romantic and elegant experience during their vacation Reservations, made as far in advance as possible are required for this exclusive experience. You make these reservations during your online check in. Note: I don’t recommend this for first time Disney Cruisers as you will miss a rotational dining night but it is great for repeat cruisers who have already experienced all of the rotational dining choices

Palo offers northern Italian cuisine in an elegant and softly lit location with ocean views. The dress code for Palo Champagne Brunch is cruise casual with no shorts, jeans, tank tops or swimwear. For dinner, men are required to wear a dress shirt or jacket, women a dress or pant suit Palo charges an extra fee (plus alcoholic beverages)

Remy offers authentic fine French dining in a luxurious dining room decorated in Art Nouveau style The gourmet menu was created by Chef Arnaud Lallement from l’Assiette Champenoise, an award winning restaurant outside of Reims, France. The meals are served on fine china designed for the restaurant, Frette linens, Riedel glassware and Christofle silverware Guests can meet with the sommelier in the wine room to taste and pre-select their wines for the evening for an additional charge A tuxedo, or suit jacket, dress pants and dress shoes are required for men. For women, the dress code is a cocktail dress, dressy pant suit, or nice dress No jeans, shorts, capris pants, sandals, flip flops or sneakers allowed. There is an extra per person charge (plus alcoholic beverages).

CONTINUED COMMON QUESTIONS

Will I be at a table with other guests?

Most likely, yes You will have other guests assigned to your table for dinner unless you are a large group of guests travelling together. This is a great opportunity to meet someone new. You all have something in common; you are all on the best cruise ever!

How does room service work?

There will be a hard bound book in your room with a menu inside. Room service is available 24 hours a day until late on the last night of the cruise. They usually tell you it will take 20 minutes to a half hour but the food often comes sooner. Room service food is free but both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be charged to your room. Use the free beverage station on Deck 11. You can also order continental breakfast, with a few beverages free, to your room with the order forms in the drawer in the vanity. Put the order form on the door the night before and the food will be delivered at the time you select. You can tip a room service crew member in cash or ask to see the charge slip which will be zero since the food is free and charge a tip on there.

Are there any wine, beer or liquor tastings?

Most cruises offer several. They will be listed on the Daily Navigator but they are very popular and require you to sign up for them and pay a small fee If you are interested in these, go to the Guest Services on the first day and ask when they will be offered and sign up. Guests under the age of 21 can’t accompany you at the tastings even if you do not intend for them to drink.

Kids' Clubs

AT A GLANCE

About Kids' Clubs

Disney Cruise Line has no equal when it comes to their children's entertainment. Kids' Clubs for infants to 17 year olds open as early as 7:30am for babies and close as late as 2am for teenagers. A variety of activities take place throughout the day that last between 60-90 minutes, so regardless of when your child checks in, they'll be able to jump into a new activity!

Kids Club Hours

The operating hours for the Oceaneer Club and Lab are typically 9:00am to midnight or 1:00am, but they can vary from ship to ship, so you’ll want to check for those details on your specific cruise. When a ship is in port, there are fewer activities scheduled and sometimes hours may be shorter. Later in the evening, mats are provided for younger children whose parents may be out past the little one’s bedtime.

Using the Kids Club While Off-ship

Guests are permitted to use kids' clubs whenever they are open, including when a ship is in port. Guardians are not required to stay on the ship while their children are checked in.

My Disney Cruise Adventure Booklet

Designed for younger cruisers, this complimentary 30-page printable booklet features helpful information about what children can expect when sailing and fun activities they can do before and during their cruise Parents will also find useful tips to help prepare their family for their adventure on the high seas

Kids' Club Open Houses

Some children may feel a little nervous about attending Kids' Club. More often than not, once a child has their first experience in a DCL Kids' Club, they are reluctant to leave! To help with this transition, DCL offers open houses so families can use the clubs' facilities together.

DISNEY CRUISE LINE SUCCESS TIPS

WHAT TO DO IF THINGS GO WRONG

HURRICANES / SEVERE WEATHER

If bad weather strikes, your cruise ship will be prepared. Modern cruising and weather forecasting means there are zero surprises when it comes to weather, and your cruise line will make plans accordingly to avoid any troublesome storms. If your sail date is during hurricane season, we will monitor the situation and reschedule your cruise if needed.

LATE OR MISSED DINING RESERVATION

Sometimes things happen and you might miss a Specialty Dining reservation. Disney's policy is that they will typically hold your reservation up until 15 minutes after your scheduled dining time. If this happens, you will need to head to the Main Dining Room or other dining area for your dinner.

SICK/INJURIES

Every cruise ship has a Health Center with a public health officer and a third-party doctor and nurse. Free screenings for Covid-19 are always available. The Health Center can provide doses of basic over-the-counter and some prescription medicines. Note: Health Center services are not free.

MOTION SICKNESS

Motion sickness (or sea sickness) is a common experience for many cruise passengers If you are prone to sea sickness, prescription medicine is your most reliable route to keeping the good times rolling on your cruise You can choose from numerous options, including patches and pills available with prescriptions or over the counter Otherwise, pack dramamine and wrist patches

LOST ITEMS

If you discover an item is missing during your cruise, please ask a Disney Cruise Line representative for help or visit the Guest Services Desk on Deck 3, Midship to retrieve found items open 24 hours for your convenience.

CASTAWAY CAY

Everything at Disney has a back story; something behind the scenes to enrich our understanding of how a Disney attraction came into being Knowing these back stories is the key to catching and appreciating all of those little details that the Imagineers left for us to find Here is the Disney legend of Castaway Cay

In the early 1920s, three explorers and their families set sail to the scattered islands of The Bahamas in search of fame and fortune Shortly into their adventure, they encountered the winds of a wild ocean storm that landed their ship upon the island now called Castaway Cay At first the troupe was fearful of impending demise but they soon became intoxicated by the tropical beauty of the island.

The leader of the expedition was a professor of paleontology from Chicago by the name of Cecil Chamberlain. Wormy, as he was called by his friends, was in search of the skeletal remains of a prehistoric sperm whale, the Physeter catodon, which he eventually discovered on the island. With his search at an end, he decided to retire on Castaway Cay, devoting the remainder of his years to the excavation of the whale. Professor Chamberlain had hired Captain Sandy Morton, his wife and his sons to lead the crew on their adventure. Captain Morton, having lived his whole life at sea, promised his wife after the storm that he would leave the life at sea to live on land. So the captain spent his days carving signs for the simple streets and rustic buildings that were sprouting up as the castaways made the island their home.

Professor Chamberlain's young protégé at the University of Chicago, Dr. Max Profitt, had also joined the expedition, but not in search of whales. Max joined to look for sunken treasure. The discovery of a 300-year-old Spanish galleon, laden with gold and jewels, at the bottom of the lagoon was everything he had hoped to find. However, instead of snatching his treasure and returning home, he decided to stay on the island and set up dive trails in order to share these amazing artifacts with others. Gil, the captain's oldest son, and his three brothers opened GIL'S FINS & BOATS to take charge of the dive trails and all other water activities such as snorkeling and boating.

A third explorer, E'Lan Vital, M.D., or "Doc," had signed on board in the hopes of discovering the Fountain of Youth, which he thought was lost on one of the hundreds of Caribbean islands. Though he never found the fountain, he did observe the youthful energy of the island. Content with his findings, Doc decided to open the first island clinic.

Doc's wife, Mere Vital, was a well preserved beauty who decided that the island (paradise though it was) lacked one of her greatest pleasures –shopping. Determined to offer this added activity to the island's options, and armed with years of experience inspecting goods up and down the Eastern seaboard, Mere commandeered a small island hut that had once been used to store supplies. Her first foray into the mercantile trade was an offering of seashells, gathered from the nearby beach and painted in rich colors. She fashioned them into jewelry, designed from her wonderful memories of shopping in New York City.

CASTAWAY CAY

Early into Mere's shell enterprise, cleverly called SHE SELLS SEA SHELLS, Professor Chamberlain stepped in as a voice of conscience His years of scientific study and passion for fossils and artifacts led him to believe that taking shells from the seashore disturbed the natural ecological balance of the island and robbed countless sea creatures of their homes He therefore persuaded Mere to pursue another product for her shop Determined to succeed, she reluctantly crossed out the word "Seashells" on the sign she had hung across the front of her shop and set out to create products that reflected the essential quality of the island paradise.

Shortly after the castaways had landed on the island, they were befriended by a local man named Grinz Alott. Grinz taught these city folk the way of the island, from folklore to local customs like the great Junkanoo celebration of The Bahamas. It was the essence of this festival that Mere decided to capture in the costumes and clothing sold at her boutique. The change proved profitable not only for Mere but also for the ecological well-being of the island.

Another enterprising woman among the castaways was Marian Profitt, the young wife of Dr. Max. Early on, she saw the need to educate the children of the island, as the castaways brought nearly a dozen with them. Marian set up Discovery Tents in a sandy cove near the whale dig, a convenient place for the children to study science, nature, music, literature and the culture of this beautiful region. Together she and Professor Chamberlain taught the children conservation awareness so that they would understand the importance of preserving the natural habitat of the island's flora and fauna.

One of her brighter students was her own daughter, Molly, who explored every inch of this tropical wonderland. In fact, it was Molly and her best friend, Seth, who first ventured beyond the wild side of the island to look for the nesting place of the chick carnie. Every day Molly and Seth searched for the bird from sunrise to sunset, stopping only when they heard the dinner bell calling Seth to work. Seth's father, Cookie, and his family had been the cooks on the ship and later ran COOKIE'S BBQ; still the only place to get good Southern cooking on the island.

The morning after the castaways landed on the island, Doc was deep in the forest looking for his fountain of youth but found instead a man asleep in the cockpit of a downed plane. Cameron (Cam) O'Flage was an expatriate from Australia and an island hopper in The Bahamas. He had run out of gas during the storm but landed safely in the marsh on the island. The castaways gave him supplies, and Cookie whipped up Carn's first real meal in weeks. Wanting to give something back, Cam opened and outfitted the bar down at the end of the runway, using parts from his downed plane. Out of respect and gratitude for the hospitality of his new friends, he named it the, CASTAWAY AIR BAR.

CASTAWAY CAY

When supplies were getting low and word was getting out about the island paradise the castaways built, they contracted with locals to build a "real" runway as opposed to the one carved by Cam's plane the night he arrived. This and the boat dock were the castaways' connection to the outside world. When air traffic was no longer needed, they marked an "X" on the runway and grounded the two Beechcraft planes, one on each end. From that point on, they relied solely on the sea for outside contact, including mail.

The CASTAWAY CAY POST OFFICE was opened by May B. Tamara, the first post mistress of Castaway Cay, who fell in love with and eventually married one of Captain Morton's sons. The wedding was a lively celebration; people came from miles around to be part of the festivities. Cookie cooked an authentic Southern meal. Grinz told stories. Mere designed May's dress. Cam served the champagne. Molly and Seth were the flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. And Captain Morton presided over the ceremony.

Enjoy your own adventures at Castaway Cay and discover the two downed planes, the Castaway Air Bar made from spare plane parts, the runway with the giant X, the sperm whale dig site, the sunken treasure dive trail, the store formally called She Sells Sea Shells, Cookie’s BBQ, the post office and the many, many details that Disney left for you to discover.

Note: Buy some postcards on the island and mail them to yourself from the Island Post Office for a really cool post mark. This is a real working post office so it can only accept cash (not your room charge card). The Post Office is not always open so if they are closed, take your post cards to Guest Services on the ship and they will mail it from Castaway Cay the next time they are in port for you

The Disembarkation Process

How do I learn how to disembark?

The most pertinent disembarkation information will be included in your ship's daily newsletter. There will also be information via Disney Cruise Line's Navigator app.

How do I finalize payments for things I've bought onboard?

On the final night of your cruise, a printed tally of your onboard account will be delivered to your cabin All you have to do is make sure that all of the charges on the bill are correct If there's a mistake, you have to get in line at the reception desk to contest the charges

When it comes to tipping, on the last day of your cruise you will also receive four small envelopes labeled Server, Assistant Server, Head Server, and Stateroom Host. If you are satisfied with the gratuity amounts you have already paid, there's nothing you need to do with these envelopes. If, instead, you'd like to give a cast member an additional tip, use these envelopes and disperse them on your final night.

When can I leave the ship?

Since the stateroom attendant needs to clean the cabins for the next guests, Disney Cruise Line asks that your family is out of the room by 8:00 am Depending on which breakfast option you choose, you may want to vacate your room prior to this

How do I get my luggage off the ship?

Option 1 - Leave your completely packed bag outside your cabin door at a specified time the night before you disembark with one of Disney's colored oval tags. (Remember to have everything you need for the final morning with you in your carryon.)

Option 2 - "Self Disembarkation" With this option, you'll keep your luggage with you and leave the ship at any time, but you will have to carry your own bags

CRUISING TIPS & TRICKS

Fly down the night before to ensure you arrive on time. Flights get cancelled and delayed all the time.

Join a facebook group for your cruise ship. There are always other travelers asking questions and sharing tips and suggestions from their own experiences

Pack your bathing suit and any items you'll want when you first board the ship in your carry-on

Skip the buffet on embarkation day. It is usually quite crowded, so I recommend heading to a secondary option.

Keep your phone in airplane mode. Be sure to double check with the DCL about their internet packages and policies Download the DCL app. This will be a fantastic resource for what's happening on the ship as well as information prior to your departure.
