Local Talent: Samuel Bebb Smithy Studio Name of artist: Samuel Bebb. Type of artist: Fine Artist. Range of products: Paintings and sculpture. Price range: £150- £3000. How long have you been an artist? All my life, but I’ve been trying to be full time about the last 2 or 3 years. Where did you train or gain experience? I spent 2 years at Shrewsbury college of art in the early nineties. Where can your products be purchased? Local exhibitions including the Ludlow Art Society of which I’m an active member, and the Smithy at Brampton Bryan. What has been your proudest moment? Other than the birth of my 2 children, probably being named student of the year at Shrewsbury College of Art. What would you class as your masterpiece? Not sure I’ve done a masterpiece yet, but probably one of my best works so far is a sculpture I’ve just completed carved from the local dhu stone from Clee Hill.
“ I am always experimenting and pushing, trying to discover new painting or sculptural language and technique.” Have you any future plans for your work? To keep improving moving forward and upwards, set new challenges. And to be better known and sell more work.

What advice would you give a local artist? Be determined and always try to do better. What other local artists do you admire? Steven Cox - sculptor, Peter Bishop - painter and art historian. Peter Edwards - portrait painter who taught me at Shrewsbury. Artist statement: I was born in 1963, and come from a farming background. I went to Shrewsbury College of Art in the early 90s, were I found my direction lay with fine art, predominantly sculpture and painting. I was taught by distinguished international portrait artist Peter Edwards BP portrait award winner, and taken under the wing and mentored by Tony Vatisse (head of art) who always encouraged me. Upon finishing the coarse at Shrewsbury, I was put in a position where I had to choose the farm or university, and although I had done really well up to that point, I found I lacked the self confidence at that time to make that final step.
My painting style varies from free expressive and abstract, to detailed portraits, but I am always experimenting and pushing, trying to discover new painting or sculptural language and technique.
In 2013-14 I built my own studio, where I work to this day. producing both sculpture and paintings.

Q&A with: Dowsing For Health & Home
What is Dowsing? It is a practical skill using your body’s own reflexes to interpret the world around and within you. Records of Dowsing have been found at least from the 16th Century.
Temple who used to treat Princess Diana! He was like a Healing Detective, always searching for the right question and the optimum remedies to bring about change in the body, mind, soul. An amazing man.
Dowsing is as good as the questions you ask, and your ability to be open minded and curious about life.
What led you into Dowsing? I had a severe illness in 1998, which meant I may have been on medication for the rest of my life, however chose to seek an alternative route. I worked with a Health/Healer Dowser and regained my health. So I know first hand what is possible with Dowsing and Energy Medicine.
Why use a Pendulum? A Pendulum is simply a tool that gives a physical response to confirm what we already intuitively know, but don’t know we know! A Pendulum will amply your body’s small muscular responses to questions you might ask or to respond to influences around you. How long have you been a Professional Dowser? Since 2004. I have studied many Wholistic Therapies since 1990, and bring this wealth of knowledge and experience to my dowsing today. Who has been your biggest influence in the Dowsing Profession? In 2004 I studied with Jack
What do you use Dowsing for? I seek to find what is potentially causing, or contributing, to lack of health and wellbeing. This could be for example: toxins or pathogens in the body, negative emotions, negative thought patterns, energies in the home or environment, foods we eat. However I do not restrict my questioning to just these areas, as our Universe is vast, and so are we, we go as far and wide as our own beliefs allow us to.

“ Ludlow Town FC is a great club to be part of!” Ludlow Town Juniors offers grassroots football to children and young adults in South Shropshire. With age groups ranging from 5/6 years up to 17 years and with 20 fully qualified coaches and many more volunteers, Ludlow Juniors have gone from strength to strength in the last few years. Two years ago, they also launched a new adult team - Ludlow Colts, borne out of one of their under 17 teams, which offers the opportunity for the older age groups to continue into adult football. The junior teams from U9’s up to U17’s play football in the Herefordshire Junior Football League and have been very successful in recent campaigns, with two teams reaching cup finals at Hereford’s Edgar Street ground and one team winning their league.
They are extremely lucky to have very supportive and dedicated parents and a committee of proactive volunteers who give up a great deal of time to ensure we have football in the area. Their teams are kindly sponsored by businesses from the local community. This season the main aim for Ludlow Juniors is to progress with their girls’ football and launch a girls’ football team with girls’ training sessions starting in September with a fully qualified female coach. Ludlow Lionesses will offer girls from the local community the chance to get involved with the game and is aimed at aged 7 – 11 years. The club has recently received a grant from the Football Foundation to help us realise their ambitions. For them, football is not only a good way to stay

The loss of a loved one can be a bewildering and lonely experience. Talking about it helps but it can be hard to find the right place and time. The Good Grief Café is a place to talk, listen and find mutual support from people who have been through a similar experience. This is not counselling - Grief is not a mental health issue - it is a normal part of human experience. Everybody’s response is unique and some people do need help from a trained counsellor. The Good Grief Café is there for people who just need a safe space to talk, laugh and maybe make some new friends. They welcome suggestions for the development of the group so please go along and join their journey. Join them - The 3rd Thursday of the month at The Pea Green Café, Ludlow Mascall Centre, Ludlow SY8 1RZ.

Shopping for a new computer? It’s a decision that comes with equal doses of excitement and overwhelm: getting a new computer! Unlike popping out to the shops for a new toaster, choosing the right computer comes with so many questions, most of which are usually asked in some sort of alien language. Helpful sales people offering RAM as it were a side of fries, measuring CPU speeds in ‘cores’, and listing specs that mean nothing around what you actually want to do. That’s where we start. Not with tricky language that only makes sense to other computer geeks, we simply find out what you plan to use your computer for, then help you do it. Depending on your needs, we may even be able to provide the computer right there and then. Other times, we’ll offer guidance on what’s in the stores and make sure you’re equipped with all the magic words that get you walking out with what you need, and only what you need (at the perfect price!). Then comes the real fun Once you’ve got that new machine home and out of the box, you’ve inhaled that new tech smell and taken plenty of selfies to remember the moment forever, the
overwhelm can come flying back in. Which cord goes where? It doesn’t work like your old one! Why is it doing that?! How to put programs back on? Does it come with security already loaded? If you’ve had your old computer for a few years, you know you’re in for a bit of inconvenience, no matter how shiny the replacement is. We can assist you through this transition period and make it all so much easier by helping to: Move your old files for you One thing most people forget during their new computer bliss-phase is how to get information off your old computer and onto your new one. If your old computer is too broken to boot, this can be a real problem. Our technicians can either turn the old hard drive into an external drive for you or copy the data onto a USB stick. You’ll be able to pick out the files you need and continue what you were doing. If you’d prefer, we can often install the old hard drive inside your new desktop so it’s always there and you have extra storage as a bonus. Article Supplied by Fresh PCs Consultancy
