We know you will have some surprises, any hints you can give us? Hmmmmm…Without giving too much away, I can say that I love featuring artistes that have paved the way for me. It’s an honor to share the stage with ICONS, so that’s definitely a hint. Lol*
Where is a location you would love to see Art Form next? I feel like Artform would be nice in London or in Toronto. I also have such a beautiful fan base in other islands of the Caribbean, so it would be nice to take the concert to one of the islands as well.
What inspired you to become a soca artist, and when did you first discover your passion for music? I’ve been a lover of Soca music for as long as I can remember. My passion to become a Soca artiste came when I started doing background vocals for a few major artistes in Soca. I was able to get a behind the scenes look at the process, and I fell in love with it.
Your music is known for its powerful messages and positive vibes. How do you come up with the lyrics and themes for your songs? Inspiration can appear in many forms and at any time. I really don’t have a template or format when it comes to my song writing. I feel as though my personality shines through my music though.
Many of your songs feature collaborations with other artists. Who have been some of your favorite collaborators, and what makes a successful collaboration in your opinion? I’ve had many memorable collaborations and amazing, memorable experiences. I think a successful collaboration is solely based on the vibe and connection between the artistes. As long as there is good energy flowing, the collaboration will inevitably be successful.
What has been your biggest challenge as a soca artist, and how have you overcome it? I think one of my biggest challenges was my lack of confidence in showcasing my talent and creativity. I was also challenged by self-doubt. I quickly realized that my lack of confidence in my work was doing a huge disservice to my career. I started trying my best to see myself the way that my fans saw me. I began looking at my work with a different pair of eyes, and that allowed me to truly appreciate how talented I am. Now, when I look back at my early years in the business, I understand that my insecurity was a part of my journey because it allowed me to have a greater appreciation for my craft.
Your performances are known for their energy and enthusiasm. How do you prepare for a live show, and what is your favorite part of performing for an audience?
Just before I touch any stage, I try to keep in mind that people are there to be entertained. I give a lot of energy because I feel like that’s what my fans are there to see. I would usually be very quiet before going on stage and strategically plan how I want to execute my performance. My favorite part of performing is watching the joy on the faces of my fans.

What can we do as a culture to push music and entertainment and music forward? We simply must continue to make amazing music. We also need to
Women have made significant contributions to the soca music genre. Who are some of the female artists that have inspired you throughout your career, and how have they influenced your music? I’ve admired so many women of Soca/Calypso over the years. I loved the stage presence and power of Singing Sandra. I also admired the perseverance and determination of Denyse Plummer. In Soca, I was and will always be a fan of Destra and Alison Hinds. I felt as though they were given leading positions in their respective bands, and they took full control of it. To be honest, I’m such a fan of ALL women of Soca, mainly because they’ve dominated their fields. The determination and creativity displayed by these women has positively affected my music because they were great examples.
