And like clockwork after the initial use, you become slowly addicted to the wonders this velvety piece of terry fabric can do.

Robes are synonymous with pampering and selfcare, so it’s no wonder that the comeback of the robe fell within 2020. This year saw the rise of care packages sent out to remote employees and essential workers. Thoughtful gifts like home spa kits bundled with a bathrobe helped bring some much-needed kindness and relaxation for those working on the front lines.

And as more robes got into the hands of more users, the bathrobe began to pop up on social media feeds with hashtags of #staycation and #treatyourself. The idea of the home spa was flourishing and everyone from nurses, accountants, and bloggers picked up on this trend and brought the elusive garment back into the social spotlight.

As the MLB season was wrapping up, the Minnesota Twins stole the show. Their team leader bought a personalized and numbered robe for all his fellow team members as recognition for qualifying for the playoffs. The robes even made their way into the dugout and fitted onto the player who hit a game winning homer.

Even the sports world got in on the fun, where organizations and teams showed off their merchandising mastery to a nation-wide audience.

The NFL Draft saw the 12th overall pick, Henry Ruggs III, sport a branded bathrobe in support of a donation by Old Spice to United Way.
