I am the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Blue Mahoe Capital Partners Inc., a private investment firm focused on providing retail investors access a portfolio of public and private equity in the Caribbean. I am a Director of Fundblackfounders, Chair of the Development Bank of Jamaica Mentorship Innovation Entrepreneurship Programme (MIEP), serve on the Advisory Board for the Caribbean School of Data funded by Google.org and based at the Mona School of Business and Management in Jamaica and I am a member of the Board of Advisors of Kingston Creative, a movement with the mission to make Downtown Kingston a vibrant centre for creatives and creative entrepreneurship in the Caribbean.
I strongly believe in giving back, uplifting others and teaching people to fish, not just giving them the fish. I call it Compassionate Capitalism and I think that it is good for society.
My entrepreneurship journey began at 15 years old in Jamaica when I laid out a 15-year plan broken into blocks of 5 years that was to result in me being a positive role model for young people around the world.
Since then I have worked in Corporate America, Corporate Jamaica, a Presidential campaign, started multiple ventures, failed at a number of them, invested in companies, raised capital from investors and shared my lessons along the way.
I have also managed to have some fun too; Played football (soccer) for Real Mona F.C. in Jamaica, I was the leading goal scorer in the Kingston and St. Andrew Business House Football League in 2005, Co-driver of a winning rally team in Jamaica, went on tour with Sean Paul and T.O.K., appeared in music videos, served on the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board as the first Future Leaders Representative in the USA, got President Obama to sign a 50th Independence birthday card for Jamaica and got married to and now with 3 wonderful children.
Entrepreneurship is a struggle but that does not mean that it cannot be fun. I tell the ugly truths about life as an entrepreneur and share my lessons on how to deal with them. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it.
Nuff Respect David M.
