Trust in God and he will see you through.
Irma and Maria changed lives forever. Women like my twin sister, Linette evacuated to the U.S. out of concern for her two young children. My sister in law, April did the same with her three children. Both women were faced with the decision of splitting up their families. Both husbands stayed behind to maintain employment and oversee their family investments. There were also women that I know that sent their children to stay with friends. No doubt very hard decisions to make, all out of love and concern for your children’s well-being. The ever changing world changing the dynamics of what most would consider traditional. The school situation in the affected Caribbean islands still even more than a year after are still extremely poor. A year and change later as we approach the second holiday season since Irma and Maria -- families are struggling with the question – “is it time to return back home?”
Decision can indeed be hard to make when children are involved. It is even tougher when it comes to choosing between where you should be and where you want to be. Not to mention the bigger question of what is right for the children. Ladies, moms – those of you out there facing this or similar situations -- there is no right or wrong answer. Everyone’s situation though similar is still different. The best advice is to discuss it as a family and weigh the advantages versus the disadvantages. Trust in God and he will see you through.
It’s now November and we’ve made it through the most nerve wrecking part of the Hurricane Season. For this I’m so grateful. The build back continues in regions affected by Irma and Maria. And we’ve been working on this latest issue Caribbean POSH -- what seems like forever now. A long time coming and we are extremely pleased to have the Virgin Island’s own Kristin Frazer on the cover. Like so many young female entrepreneurs – Kristin represents resilience. 2018 being the 10-year anniversary of Trefle Swimwear, Kristin celebrated it with the launch of her ZION Collection. With the year still not done, the womaneur has already geared up for the next venture. POSHgirls be on the lookout as the holiday season will welcome her Trefle Home Collection. Much of Kristin’s success comes from surrounding herself with positive energy and simply not being afraid to go after her dreams.
As we celebrate the holiday season, be reminded that we all have much to be thankful for. Finding the right answer or achieving success will never be a walk in the park. If we’ve learned anything from the most memorable hurricane to date is that sometimes life does require a restart button and we have to break away from the norm – into what could be an uncomfortable situation. Moms, Mom-Entrepreneurs, and Girl bosses alike – we are magic beings and all we have to do is claim our power.
