"I was delighted to visit Antigua and returned feeling that the island is looking better than ever. My trip started with Hodges Bay Resort & Spa. During my time here, I took the 5-minute boat ride to their private island, Prickly Pear where we enjoyed a sumptuous sharing dinner, al fresco. You simply cannot miss a trip here when staying at Hodges Bay Resort & Spa. Our next stay was Blue Waters Resort & Spa, a long-time favourite of Caribtours and a resort that I was very familiar with, and it was great to see all of the continued developments which keep it looking fresh and luxurious. As well as the two new pools, one overlooking the beach and an adults only pool where there is a lovely new restaurant, even the flora and fauna was looking fabulous - so green and lush, the whole hotel has a lovely atmosphere to it. I was able to sample The Cove Restaurant, the new Reef Restaurant and The Palm and all meals were as good as the last. Our final stay was at the iconic Jumby Bay Island. Reachable only by boat and with no cars in sight, this was the perfect blend of peace, seclusion and complete wellbeing. This was my first time seeing the resort since it was recently refurbished with a fresh new look and I adored the changes – the new Junior Suites are spectacular, overlooking the stunning beach and perfectly flexible to combine multiple suites for families. I am always blown away by this unique resort and this time was no different. During my time in Antigua, I had the opportunity to visit many resorts including Hermitage Bay, Carlisle Bay, Curtain Bluff, Galley Bay Resort & Spa, Tamarind Hills and Royalton Antigua – all with their own unique appeal and flair. renada is famously known as the ‘Spice Isle’, though this wasn’t always the case. Nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon were only introduced to the island during the British colonial period in the 18th and 19th century, but the excellent growing conditions and relative proximity to Europe meant that Grenada quickly became one of the world’s most important producers of nutmeg. This fragrant legacy lives on in the markets of the island’s capital, St George’s, and spices infuse everything from the fiery rum punch to the cuisine at the many world class restaurants. Our favourite places to dine in Grenada include the open-air Oliver’s Restaurant at Spice Island Beach Resort and celebrity chef the late Gary Rhodes’ eponymous restaurant at Calabash. TOBAGO T obago is an island that appeals to those in search of the Caribbean as it used to be. Laid-back and low-key, with little in the way of tourism development compared to her neighbours, Tobago instead offers unspoilt nature, bijou beach hotels and an unhurried approach to life.
