ACCOMMODATION: 178 accommodations are housed within whitewashed, terracotta-tiled blocks reminiscent of an Andalusian village, and the interiors have been beautifully reimagined with an emphasis on natural materials and textures. All rooms have a flatscreen TV, espresso machine, mini bar and bathroom with double vanities, shower and Alissa freestanding tub. Most have a private terrace or balcony, and higher categories enjoy direct access to the stunning beach. Some of the oceanfront Island Suites have a private Jacuzzi, while the spacious Villas offer three or five bedrooms, a private pool and well-equipped kitchen. The sprawling Estate Homes are a cut above at 6,300 square feet, with five bedrooms and additional services including a dedicated butler, concierge, catering staff and housekeeping. RESTAURANTS & BARS: Executive chef Abram Bissell oversees seven restaurants and bars, with a real emphasis on fresh local produce, including ingredients from the hotel’s own hydroponic gardens. Kitchen Table is the main restaurant with an open kitchen, wood-burning oven and family-style dining, while Eventide is a feet-in-the-sand venue focusing on Caribbean flavours and Breezes is inspired by East Coast seafood classics and Marella serves modern Italian-inspired cuisine. D Richard’s, located at the golf club, specialises in steaks and has a well-stocked wine cellar which debuts in 2022. FACILITIES: At the heart of the resort is the striking infinity pool, which stretches from the main pool to the beach bar. The Sorana Spa has 12 treatment rooms and aquatherapy facilities, while the fitness centre is kitted out with all the latest gym equipment. The Aurora International Golf Club is the only one on the island, with both 9- and 18-hole courses and amazing views. You can also try watersports including snorkelling, sailing and kite surfing, enjoy movies on the beach, play tennis, head out on a guided hike or learn something new with an extensive programme of classes and excursions.

EXPERT VIEW

- One area of continuity between the old CuisinArt and Aurora Anguilla is the emphasis on fresh, sustainably sourced food; take a tour of the hotel’s hydroponic farm for a fascinating insight into how they grow their fruit and vegetables while conserving precious water - The Greg Norman Signature 18-hole course was already highly regarded by golfers, and the new 9-hole course is a great addition - If the indirect flights from the UK are putting you off then you might like to consider enquiring about Aurora’s fleet of private planes - There’s so much to do here, including mixology lessons, wine tastings, steelpan sessions, painting classes and bootcamps
