FE LT’ S H I STO RY At Felt, our mission remains as it’s been since the beginning: to design, develop, and deliver the best bicycles in the world. Period. The roots of this mission trace back more than two decades. It all started in the late 1980s when motocross star Johnny O’Mara asked his ace motorcycle mechanic Jim Felt to build him a time trial bike. Johnny was competing in triathlons as training for motocross. A competitive age-group triathlete himself, Jim had a distinct vision of how he could improve on the designs of the time. He focused on optimizing rider position to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It worked. Johnny immediately started winning races, and before long Jim was building bikes for many of the world’s top triathletes. When Paula Newby-Fraser won the 1991 Kona Ironman on a Felt, Jim found himself officially in the bicycle business. Ten years after Jim Felt built that first triathlon bike, it was time to expand. Enter Bill Duehring and Michael Müllmann. Bill, a bike industry veteran, brought years of product development experience and strong global supplier ties. Michael owned a successful distribution company in Europe.

It was the perfect melding of skills. Felt now had more than 70 years of combined experience in developing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality bicycles. Jim brought his respected name, design experience, and athlete relationships. Bill had broad-based product development knowledge and vendor connections. Michael had extensive experience in distribution and marketing.

“We didn’t want to be the biggest bike company in the world, just the best.” was the trio’s shared maxim. Together Jim, Bill, and Michael developed a singular goal: to build a bicycle brand dedicated to technological innovation and unmatched quality.

Since those fledgling days, the Felt brand has grown far beyond its triathlon roots, and today includes a complete bike line that touches all of the cycling’s various disciplines. Whether climbing the highest peaks of the Tour de France, bombing down single-track, racing your first triathlon, or commuting to work, Felt delivers a bike with uncompromised performance, maximum comfort, and optimized efficiency.

In engineering, product development, sales, marketing, and customer service, the same underlying values that sparked the start of the company continue to drive every Felt employee, every day. Indeed, every Felt bike is designed and built to make your cycling experience the absolute best it can be.

Core to this success is a company-wide mandate to continually improve on past success. Nothing is done in a vacuum. Instead, each new Felt bike, be it road or offroad, high-end performance to entry-level recreation, utilizes critical lessons from past designs, and then incorporates new enhancements.

Unser selbstgestecktes Ziel: Wir wollen die besten Räder der Welt entwickeln und fertigen. Punkt. Unsere Geschichte beginnt vor über zwanzig Jahren mit dem Namen, der auf dem Unterrohr unserer Räder steht. In den späten Achtzigern baute Jim Felt, damals ein hervorragender Motocross-Mechaniker, ein Triathlonrad für Johnny O’Mara, einen Motocross Profi. Dieser nahm damals an Triathlons teil, um seine Kondition zu verbessern.

Jim, der ebenfalls bei Triathlon-Rennen startete, hatte eine klare Vorstellung davon, wie er die bestehenden Designs für Johnnys Rad verbessern konnte. Er optimierte vor allem die Sitzposition nach aerodynamischen Gesichtspunkten. Auf einmal gewann Johnny Triathlon-Rennen und es dauerte nicht lange, bis Jim auch für die Triathlon-Elite Räder zu bauen begann. Als Paula Newby-Fraser 1991 den Kona Ironman mit einem Felt-Rad gewann, war Jim endgültig in der Bike-Branche angekommen.

Zehn Jahre nach dem ersten Triathlon-Rad wollte Jim Felt expandieren, um noch mehr radbegeisterten Sportlern Bikes anbieten zu können. Hier betraten Bill Duehring und Michael Müllmann die Bühne. Bill, schon seit ewigen Zeiten in der Branche, konnte seine langjährige Erfahrung in der Produktentwicklung und seine guten Kontakte zu Industrielieferanten auf der ganzen Welt in die Firma einbringen – Michael, als Inhaber einer erfolgreichen Importfirma in Europa, seine weltweiten Vertriebskanäle. Das war die perfekte Kombination. So verfügte Felt bereits bei der Gründung über 70 Jahre an Erfahrung in Entwicklung, Produktion und Vertrieb von High-End Fahrrädern. Der Name Felt war bereits damals in der Branche nicht unbekannt und noch heute trägt Jim mit seinem Know-how in der Produktenwicklung und den guten Kontakten zu den Athleten maßgeblich zum Fortbestehen der Firma bei.

„Wir wollen nicht die größte Fahrradfirma der Welt sein – nur die Beste!“ hört man die drei Gründer Jim, Bill und Michael sagen. Gemeinsam arbeiten sie an ihrem Ziel: Felt soll technische Innovationen und Räder in unerreichter Qualität hervorbringen. Ob Rennrad oder Mountainbike ob Profi-Maschine oder Einsteiger-Modell – jedes Rad von Felt soll das bestmögliche Fahrerlebnis bieten. Egal ob auf den steilsten Anstiegen der Tour de France, auf rutschigen Singletracks, beim ersten Triathlon-Wettkampf oder auf dem Weg zur Arbeit – jedes Felt steht für kompromisslose Leistung, Komfort und Effizienz. Erfolg misst sich in vielerlei Arten. Doch der Name Felt ist überall dabei. In der Produktentwicklung haben wir mit unserem DA-Zeitfahrrad Maßstäbe gesetzt. Unsere Athleten fahren kontinuierlich in der Weltspitze mit. Weltmeisterschaften, Medaillen bei Olympischen Spielen, Ironman-Siege und Etappen-Erfolge bei großen Rundfahrten sprechen für sich.

Unsere Herstellungsprozesse wie z. B. die InsideOut oder Dynamic Monocoque Konstruktion sind richtungweisend und unsere innovativen Technologien, wie die Equilink™ Federung und das Bayonet Lenksystem unerreicht. Wir erweitern ständig die Grenzen des Machbaren und machen Unmögliches möglich. Der Schlüssel zum Erfolg liegt im Bekenntnis zur stetigen Verbesserung. The results speak for themselves. The world’s fastest UCI legal time trial bike, the DA, continues to dominate the international time trial and triathlon circuit. The Edict full-suspension mountain bike is a stalwart on the world’s elite cross-country scene. The top-tier AR and F road bikes are mainstays of the European peloton. And, the TK1 has been raced on the track at two Olympic Games, Beijing in 2008 and now London 2012.

Felt has also made a dramatic incursion into cyclo-cross with its top-end FX series, a World Cup worthy carbon fiber platform that helped American star Ryan Trebon continue his dominating ways in 2011. Felt also launched the new Edict Nine, a 29-inch wheeled mountain bike racing machine that provides the ideal balance between weight, strength, stiffness, ride quality, and durability. And of course we remain exceptionally proud of our VERZAe line.

On the competition front, Felt is a dominant player. Recent highlights include the Project London track team shattering the U.S. team sprint record, Argos-Shimano race sprinter Marcel Kittel’s conquest of Belgium’s testing Scheldeprijs race, and Kristin Armstrong’s time trial victory at the Tour of California. Other notable Felt driven efforts include triathlon star Andi Böcherer’s victory at the Ironman 70.3 European championships, and of course, Thomas Litscher’s U23 UCI Mountain Bike World Championship.

Competition is only part of the Felt story. Our Cruiser series continues to offer a contemporary and stylish solution for anyone looking to make cycling part of a healthy and environmentally responsible lifestyle. And the Verza-e line further demonstrate that Felt is helping change the way people think about bikes and transportation in general. With an exciting array of bikes for all types of riders and disciplines, plus a host of new technologies, 2013 promises to be another exceptional year.

Don’t expect Felt’s mission to change. Just as it was when Jim Felt started the company all those years ago, we continue to design, develop, and deliver the best bicycles in the world. Period.

Die Ergebnisse sind eindeutig. Das schnellste UCI-konforme Zeitfahrrad der Welt – unser DA – dominiert bei den internationalen Time-Trials und bei Triathlons. Zuletzt gewann Kristin Armstrong im Olympischen Zeitfahren 2012 die Goldmedaille auf dem DA. Das EDICT SIX und EDICT NINE sind bei den Mountainbike Weltcup-Rennen in der Weltspitze dabei und unsere erfolgreichen Räder AR und F sind aus dem Peloton der Tour de France oder den Klassikern nicht mehr wegzudenken. John Degekolb vom Team Argos-Shimano konnte bei der Vuelta a España 2012 legendäre 5 Etappensiege erzielen. Bei den Olympischen Spielen in Peking 2008 und London 2012 fuhren unsere Athleten auf dem TK1 um Medaillen.

Doch Wettkampf ist nur ein Teil der FeltPhilosophie. Unsere Produktpalette bietet auch viele zeitgemäße Lösungen für die täglichen Wege zur Arbeit, zur Schule zum Einkaufen oder einfach nur zum Cruisen – auf unseren Cruisern zum Beispiel. Unsere neuste Reihe – das VERZAe – bietet neue Möglichkeiten mit elektrischer Unterstützung. Das eBike ist DAS Fortbewegungsmittel der Zukunft. Und wir werden sie mitgestalten.

Mit der FX-Serie ist uns ein großartiger Einstieg in die Cyclocross-Welt gelungen. Auf Anhieb schaffte es der Schweizer Top-Fahrer Simon Zahner im Weltcup vorne mitzufahren und wird auch 2013 zu den Besten gehören.

Felts Mission wird sich nicht ändern. Genau wie bei der Gründung vor all den Jahren, werden wir weiterhin alles daran setzen, die besten Räder der Welt zu entwerfen, zu konstruieren und zu bauen. Punkt.

AR S E R I E S Durch das Kombinieren der leichten, steifen und einfach zu handhabenden Performance eines Profi-Straßenrads aus Carbonfaser mit den aerodynamischen Vorteilen eines Zeitfahrrads hat das AR neu definiert, wozu ein Straßenrad fähig ist. Vor fünf Jahren wurden wir von Profi-Rennfahrern herausgefordert, unsere Expertise im Bereich Aerodynamik auf die Konstruktion eines neuen Straßenrads anzuwenden. Die Rennfahrer baten uns als Hersteller der weltschnellsten Zeitfahrräder und Track-Räder (dem DA und dem TK1), ihnen bei der Verbesserung der Performance und Effizienz der Räder, die sie tagtäglich fuhren, zu helfen.

Blending the lightweight, stiff and quick-handling performance of a professional-grade carbon fiber road racing bike with the aerodynamic advantages of a time trial bike, the AR has redefined the road bike category. Five years ago, pro racers challenged Felt to put its aerodynamic expertise toward designing a new road bike. The racers asked Felt, makers of the world’s fastest time trial and track bikes (the DA and the TK1), to help them improve the efficiency and performance of the road bikes they ride day in and day out. A collaborative development effort between Felt engineers and athletes, the AR was officially unveiled at the 2008 Tour de France. The competition immediately took notice. The pros know that at the speeds they race, aerodynamic efficiency matters. It can be the difference between winning and losing. Following cues from the DA time trial bike, the AR is designed with a purpose-built down tube, head tube, chainstays, seatstays, fork blades and a wheelwell-conforming seat tube. It also features the shielded internal cable routing found in the DA to maximize its aerodynamic advantage. The result of this design is clear. Against its true adversary—the wind—the AR gives racers a tangible advantage. Testing sessions at the San Diego Low Speed Wind Tunnel facility have proven that, depending on speed and wind conditions, a rider can reasonably expect to save from 60-70 (+/-) seconds over the course of an hour when compared to a bike with round frame tubes in similar conditions. The AR is the bike a great number of Felt’s pro riders use any time they put a nose in the wind. It’s the perfect machine for making a successful breakaway, or bringing one back. Like all Felt road bikes, the AR is characterized by crisp handling. The proprietary blend of carbon fiber materials used to construct the frame give it the stiffness and ride quality for which Felt is known. Beyond the frame, each AR is outfitted with a full complement of race-ready parts. From aerodynamic wheels to flawless drivetrains and gearing that’s suited to racing speeds, the AR Series is designed and built to deliver you to your best performance ever. 26

The goal of Felt’s ZW Series is to honestly address the unique needs of women cyclists from both an engineering standpoint and an athlete’s perspective. Many manufacturers introduce women’s bikes by simply switching some parts, such as saddles and handlebars, and changing the frame graphics to set them apart from men’s models. But Felt started the entire design and engineering process from scratch. Redesigned for 2013, the ZW is faster than ever before. Engineers meticulously analyzed the frame looking for ways to improve performance and ride quality. The result is a frame that is 25% stiffer and 50g lighter than the previous generation ZW all without compromising its distinct ride characteristics. The ZW takes many of its design cues from the Z-Series. Both feature a longer wheelbase for an extremely confident, assured ride quality. Both offer more handlebar positioning choices, a sloping top tube for superior stand-over clearance and improved vertical compliance that results from a more exposed seatpost. Those design features contribute to the ZW’s overall ride quality, but to really optimize the bike for women, and to address every anatomical detail, every angle and dimension of the frame was scrutinized. Because a woman’s body has distinctly different proportions than a man’s, simply making a smaller frame is not an effective solution. Essentially, Felt reverse-engineered the geometry to achieve the desired fit. Constructed from the same materials as the Z Series bikes, the ZW lay-up is customized to improve performance for women. The top-of-the-line ZW model uses Felt’s unparalleled UHC Ultimate+Nano carbon fiber, and in all ZW bikes the materials are carefully optimized for women’s needs. For example, they all feature smaller diameter tubes, thinner tube walls and shorter tube intersections. As with everything that Felt designs, the ZW is focused on performance. Felt’s Pro women’s team Exergy TWENTY12 have ridden the ZW to multiple victories in some of the most prestigious races in the world. The ZW is stiff enough for unmatched efficiency, light enough to keep the pros flying over hills, and designed with size-appropriate vertical compliance. So what does it all mean? It means that finally there is a bike you can call your own. A bike that’s comfortable, invigorating, motivating and thoroughly enjoyable.

Das Ergebnis ist ein Rahmen, der 25% steifer und 50g leichter ist als vorige ZW-Generationen, ohne jedoch Kompromisse zulasten seiner besonderen Fahreigenschaften zu machen. Für das ZW wurden viele Kernelemente der Z-Serie übernommen. Beide zeichnen sich durch einen etwas längeren Achsabstand aus. Das führt zu extrem sicherer und zuverlässiger Fahrqualität. Beide bieten mehr Optionen für die Lenkereinstellung. Das abfallende Oberrohr ermöglicht eine ausgezeichnete Schritthöhe, die ausgestelltere Sattelstütze eine verbesserte Dämpfung. Diese Designelemente tragen zur Fahrqualität des ZW bei, aber um das Bike wirklich für Frauen zu optimieren und jedes anatomische Detail zu berücksichtigen, wurde jeder Winkel und jede Dimension des Rahmens eingehend geprüft. Da der Körper einer Frau eindeutig andere Proportionen hat als der eines Mannes, ist das simple Verkleinern des Rahmens keine effektive Lösung. Letztlich hat Felt die Geometrie zurückentwickelt (reverse-engineered), um die richtige Geometrie zu erreichen. Obwohl das ZW aus dem gleichen Material besteht wie die Bikes der Z-Serie, wurde der Layup-Plan so geändert, dass das Bike an weibliche Bedürfnisse angepasst ist. Die Top-Modelle der ZW-Reihe bestehen aus dem unvergleichlichen UHC Ultimate+ Nano Carbon, wobei bei allen ZW-Modellen die Materialien sorgsam angepasst sind. So besitzen die ZW-Bikes alle kleinere Rohrdurchmesser, dünnere Rohrwandstärken und kürzere Rohrverbindungen. Wie bei allem, was Felt konstruiert, ist das ZW auf Performance ausgelegt. T RI/ T T S E RI E S Felt built its name by creating innovative, aerodynamic bikes to race against the clock. For more than 20 years, we have continually brought new ideas to rider positioning, efficiency and, above all, aerodynamic performance. From World Champion triathletes Mirinda Carfrae, and Terenzo Bozzone, Olympic and World Time Trial Champion Kristin Armstrong, to the pros of Argos-Shimano, when it comes to solo efforts, winners rely on Felt. The bikes you see in our 2013 TT/Tri Series have undergone years of development refinement and have already been proven—in the wind tunnel and in competition—to be our fastest yet. It starts with the DA, Felt’s premier TT/Tri bike. Incorporating radically shaped frame tubing, UHC Ultimate+Nano carbon fiber, and a host of new technologies including the Bayonet 3 Steering System and proprietary, aerodynamic brakes, the latest generation of the DA has already tallied several major international victories. The DA’s design process was time-consuming and expensive, but the results speak for themselves. After extensive internal brainstorming, detailed rider feedback, and studies in airflow and tube shapes, the engineering team used powerful Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to test their designs in a virtual environment. CFD, commonly used in the design of F1 racecars and multi-million dollar yachts, allows Felt to dial in our designs before creating physical prototypes. By the time the DA prototypes were built, Felt engineers already understood what frame shapes worked best; but the development phase is never complete until the bike is analyzed in the wind tunnel. Over a period of more than a year, adjustments were made, new prototypes built—until they got it absolutely perfect. But the real strength of Felt’s TT/Tri Series is its depth. For 2013, the DA will be available in five different configurations including a new women’s specific model. The B Series bikes, which are continuously recognized by cycling magazine editors for their blend of incredible performance and value, have been updated to improve performance across all pricepoints. Both the B2 and B12 frames are descendents of the DA frames, with nearly identical shaping. Engineers tweaked the front end to accommodate the standard fork, giving the headtube an aero and torsionally stiff hourglass shape. The result is a frame with ProTour caliber performance. Every Felt TT/Tri bike is outfitted with a meticulously selected collection of components and parts. Each one, no matter its price, is built to offer the best aerodynamic performance and fit so that you can reach your goals. Das DA, unser Top-Zeitfahr- und Triathlon-Modell, besticht mit seinem radikal geformten Rahmen. Das UHC Ultimate+Nano Carbon und jede Menge neuer Technik, darunter die Bayonet 3 Gabel und eigens entwickelte aerodynamische Bremsen, machen es zum besten Bike im Wind. Die neueste Generation des DA hat sich bereits durch mehrere größere internationale Siege in den Vordergrund gespielt. Der Designprozess des DA war zeit- und kostenintensiv, aber die Ergebnisse sprechen für sich. Nach ausgiebigem Brainstorming, detailliertem Fahrerfeedback und Studien zu Luftstrom und Rohrformen hat das Ingenieurteam zusätzlich leistungsstarke CFDSoftware (Computational Fluid Dynamics) eingesetzt. Ansonsten für die Konstruktion von Formel-1-Rennwagen und Multi-Millionen-DollarYachten eingesetzt, verwenden unsere Ingenieure die CFD-Software, um ihre Designs virtuell zu testen, bevor sie physische Prototypen erstellen. Während die DA-Prototypen gebaut werden, wissen die FeltIngenieure natürlich längst, welche Rahmenformen am besten sind, allerdings ist die Entwicklungsphase erst dann abgeschlossen, wenn das Bike auch im Windkanal beste Ergebnisse liefert. Über einen Zeitraum von mehr als einem Jahr wurden Anpassungen vorgenommen, neue Prototypen gebaut – so lange bis es absolut perfekt war. Der noch größere Vorteil der DA-Serie liegt in ihrer Vielfalt. 2013 gibt es das DA in fünf unterschiedlichen Konfigurationen, darunter ein Damen-Modell. Die B-Serie, die immer wieder in Magazintests für ihr hervorragendes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis gelobt wird, wurde in allen Preislagen im Sinne der Performance überarbeitet. Die Rahmen sowohl des B2 als auch des B12 sind Ableger vom DA – mit annähernd identischen Formen. Unsere Entwickler haben die Frontpartie für die Aufnahme der Standardgabel überarbeitet, indem sie dem Steuerrohr eine aerodynamische und gleichzeitig steife SanduhrForm gaben. Das Ergebnis ist ein Rahmen mit der Performance vom Kaliber eines World-Tour-Renners! Für jedes Felt TT/Tri-Rad werden die Komponenten und Teile sorgfältig ausgewählt. Jedes Rad, ungeachtet wie viel es kostet, ist gebaut, um den größtmöglichen aerodynamischen Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden – damit Sie Ihr Ziel erreichen. EDICT NINE SERIES

The goal was simple: Create the fastest full-suspension XC bike in the world. It took several years, much experimenting and many different prototypes to achieve this goal, but the Edict Nine has arrived for 2013. Designed to burn up World Cup courses and tame the most rugged, grueling marathon XC courses, the all new Edict Nine Series brings a new level of refined Felt performance to the gritty, unpredictable world of off-road riding and racing. Incorporating Felt Active Stay Technology (“FAST™”) suspension and the efficiency and stability of 29” wheels, the Edict Nine is the next generation of XC racing. To meet the lofty standards established for the Edict Nine, Felt adapted the proprietary FAST™ suspension system to the geometry of a 29” frame. FAST™ offers 100 millimeters (4”) of smooth, predictable travel and delivers unequaled suspension performance in a lightweight, race-ready package. Of course, adapting FAST™ to different geometry is a task in itself. Engineers carefully tweaked geometry and tube shapes to insure an ideal union between the suspension performance and the frame. The genius behind FAST™ is its simplicity. By creating a frame and suspension system that work in unison to achieve specific goals—namely, unparalleled XC speed, control and efficiency— Felt engineers were able to pinpoint their efforts. FAST™ makes the most of the Felt’s considerable experience working with cutting-edge materials and construction techniques, and utilizes the design of the frame to optimize the bike’s overall suspension performance. The Edict Nine’s seatstay and chainstay work together, offering just enough flex to optimize rear suspension activity. The whole rear end is custom shaped and engineered to provide both a stable pedaling platform and a smooth trail feel. It helps keep your tires on the ground when climbing or pedaling through smaller stutter bumps—situations where suspension affects traction—and adds just enough compliance to reduce fatigue. The Edict Nine will be available in 5 offerings, ranging from the full carbon fiber Edict Nine 1 to the alloy Edict Nine 60. All Edict models are light and quick-handling with a stable, neutral feel that inspires confidence on steep, technical climbs, screaming descents and whatever else the trail throws your way.

Natürlich war die Anpassung von FAST™ an andere Geometrien an sich schon eine große Aufgabe. Unsere Ingenieure haben vorsichtig Geometrie und Rohrformen verändert, um eine perfekte Verbindung zwischen der Federungsfunktion und dem Rahmen zu konstruieren. Das Geniale an FAST™ ist seine Einfachheit. Durch die Konstruktion eines Rahmen- und Federungssystems, das im Einklang arbeitet, konnten unsere Ziele erreicht werden – nämlich bisher unerreichter XC-Speed, Kontrolle und Effizienz. FAST™ holt das Beste aus Felts umfangreicher Erfahrung im Umgang mit topaktuellen Materialien und Konstruktionstechniken heraus und nutzt das Design des Rahmens, um die Gesamtfederungsleistung des Bikes zu optimieren. Die Sitz- und Kettenstreben des Edict Nine arbeiten zusammen und bieten gerade ausreichend Flex, um die Bewegung des Hinterbaus zu unterstützen. Das komplette hintere Rahmendreieck ist speziell geformt und konstruiert, um sowohl das Pedalieren als auch ein Trail-Feeling zu garantieren. Das Hinterrad bleibt auf dem Boden, beim Bergauffahren oder bei kleinen Schlägen und Rippen – genau da, wo die Federung die Traktion beeinflusst –, und bietet gerade genügend Nachgiebigkeit, um Erschöpfung zu reduzieren. Das Edict Nine kommt in 5 Ausführungen, vom Vollcarbon Edict Nine 1 bis zum Edict Nine 60 mit Aluminiumrahmen. Alle EdictModelle sind gewichtsoptimiert. Die wendige Geometrie und das stabile, neutrale Fahrverhalten sorgen für Vertrauen auf steilen, technischen Auffahrten, knackigen Downhills und allem, was der Trail noch so an Herausforderungen zu bieten hat.

NINE SERIES With cutting-edge frame technology and a superior ride quality that has won over many of Felt’s professional cross-country racers, Felt’s Nine Series bike blend the surefooted handling characteristics of 29” wheels with the type of razor-sharp, racebred performance that characterizes every bike that bears the Felt name. Design criteria for the Nine has always been strict and focused, and for 2013, Felt updated just about everything on Nine platform. From the geometry, to tube shapes, to rear triangle design, the Nine emerges in 2013 faster and more efficient than ever before. In addition, the Nine is now offered in 5 sizes, giving an improved ride quality to cyclists of all sizes. To maximize the Nine’s performance on the trail, Felt engineers modified the head angle and added a fork that produces the same trail as the Six Series. In addition, the Nine frames were constructed with same bottom bracket height as the Six bikes— lower than most other 29” wheel bikes to give it a low center of gravity and put the rider more in tune with the terrain. The larger wheels did pose some formidable design challenges to Felt engineers. Chainstays on 29’’ wheel bikes frequently run long to accommodate the tire and front derailleur. But thanks to a curved seat tube and forged chainstay yoke on the aluminum frames, Felt engineers were able to keep the chainstays short without interfering with the front derailleur. This keeps rider weight properly distributed. Better front-to-rear weight distribution improves the bike’s abilities on out-of-the-saddle climbs. The combination of all these features makes the Nine feel more like a traditional hardtail mountain bike, only faster. The result of all this engineering is a bike that inspires confidence with its tried-and-true handling. Top Nine models feature Felt’s proprietary Dynamic Monocoque carbon fiber construction for improved ride quality, drivetrain efficiency, torsional rigidity and tire clearance. Die Design-Vorgaben für die NINE-Bikes waren eindeutig. Für 2013 wurde die NINE-Plattform komplett überarbeitet. Mit einer neuen Geometrie, neuen Rohrformen und Hinterbau, wird das NINE in diesem Jahr schneller und effizienter als je zuvor. Außerdem wird es das NINE ab sofort in 5 Größen geben, sodass wir für Fahrer jeder Größe das optimale Setup anbieten können. Um das Verhalten der NINEs auf dem Trail zu optimieren, veränderten die Felt-Ingenieure den Lenkwinkel und bauten eine Gabel ein, die den gleichen Nachlauf wie die der Six-Serie ergibt. Auch die Tretlagerhöhe der NINEs entspricht genau der der Six-Bikes – das Innenlager liegt tiefer als bei den meisten 29ern und ergibt einen tiefen Schwerpunkt für ein besseres Fahrgefühl. Die großen Laufräder stellten die Ingenieure durchaus vor Herausforderungen. Die Kettenstreben von 29ern sind üblicherweise länger, um dem Reifen Platz zu geben und den Umwerfer unterbringen zu können. Durch ein gekrümmtes Sitzrohr und eine geschmiedete Verbindungsstrebe an den Alu-Rahmen konnten die Felt-Designer die Kettenstreben kürzer halten, ohne den Umwerfer zu beeinträchtigen. Dies ergibt zudem eine ausgewogenere Sitzposition. Die bessere Gewichtsverteilung zwischen Hinter- und Vorderrad kommt dem Biker vor allem beim Bergauffahren im Wiegetritt zugute. Die Kombination all dieser Faktoren führt dazu, dass sich ein NINE mehr wie ein traditionelles 26er-Hardtail anfühlt – nur deutlich schneller. Die Top-Modelle der NINE Carbon-Serie besitzen den Felt-typischen Monocoque-Rahmen mit der Modularkonstruktion. Engineers accomplished this by incorporating Felt’s ControlTaper headtube and top-of-the-line materials to the Virtue platform. Additionally, the geometry has been updated to give a more stable and efficient ride. The Virtue Series features three levels of frames: a full alloy version with a manufacturing technique that gives it a smoother, more organic look; an alloy/carbon blend that features a hydroformed aluminum front triangle and carbon fiber rear; and the dazzling full-carbon UHC Performance model, which is manufactured by utilizing Felt’s most advanced processes like Dynamic Monocoque Construction and InsideOut Internally Optimized Molding Process. Each Virtue features custom-valved rear shocks to keep the suspension active. While many frame designs rely on platform damping to reduce unwanted suspension movement, Felt’s Equilink™ allows the shock to do its job without the rider influencing suspension performance. Equally capable of tackling a sanctioned gravity event or an allday, all-mountain epic, Compulsion is Felt’s do-it-all trail machine. With patented Equilink™ suspension and 6” (Adjustable 150mm or 160mm) of fully active travel, the Compulsion is the pinnacle of all-mountain performance. Get up the hill faster and devour the most technical descents with greater ease. For 2013, the Compulsion series features a full carbon fiber frame that yields a bike that is lighter, stronger, and stiffer than ever before. The weight of every model was reduced for more agile performance on the trail, and the models feature head angles that are at 67.5 degrees for improved handling in aggressive, technical terrain. In addition, the stiffness and strength of every Compulsion frame is bolstered by the use of well-engineered links and hardware, perfect pivot placement, and tweaked tube shapes. Cartridge bearings ensure smooth travel, and the pivot axles come with a custom thru-shaft for improved durability and strength.

This part of our MTB range is tailored to very young riders. The two wheel sizes (20“ and 24“) make these bikes perfect for 6-year-old kids as well as for teenagers, no matter what he or she wants to do with the bike. Since young customers also require bikes with a low weight, all of our frames are made of light 6061 aluminum. All frames have a lower top tube for better balance and a replaceable derailleur hanger to avoid any bad damage in the case of a fall. All bikes have stems and seat posts, rims and hubs made of light aluminum to make the bikes lighter and more efficient. Good components are indispensable for reliability and durability. Smooth Shimano drives and Revo twist grips make shifting gears easier for children. Saddles developed by Felt and especially soft handles ensure special comfort, and stainless spokes prevent corrosion. VE RZ A e SERIE S Immer wenn es gerade anfängt, Spaß zu machen, kommt einer von ihnen vorbei – der Wind oder die Steigung. Sie kennen das? Wir auch! Und um diesen Widrigkeiten besser trotzen zu können, haben wir für Sie unsere eBike-Serie VERZAe entwickelt. Uns war es wichtig, nicht einfach nur ein Fahrrad mit einem E-Motor auszustatten und es eBike zu nennen. Wir haben viel Zeit darauf verwendet, die Anforderungen zu ermitteln, die an ein gutes eBike gestellt werden. Zudem sollen unsere Räder auch nach mehreren Tausend Kilometern noch die gleiche Freude bereiten, wie am ersten Tag.

Just when your ride seems to be going smooth and relaxing, obstacles like steep climbs up a hill or pesty gusts of wind that slow you down, seem to get in the way. Do you know that feeling? We do. So to keep your ride enjoyable and to ensure that nothing will come between you and your destination, we’ve designed our new VERZAe e-bike series. We didn’t just want to attach an electrical motor to a bicycle and call it an e-bike. We invested a lot of time to find out what the demands for an excellent e-bike would be, thriving to make our bikes work like on the first day, even after thousands of miles. Thus we decided to collaborate with BOSCH and NuVinci in order to set the highest standards for the motor and the transmission. Two out of three of our Felt VERZAe models are equipped with the internal gear shifting NuVinci 360 or the NuVinci 360 Harmony. Moreover, our entrance level bike – VERZAe 30 – comes with a Shimano Deore 9speed drivetrain. The engineers of our R&D have worked closely together for years with the renowned German company BOSCH, carving out a sound grasp of contemporary developments concerning e-bike technology. Furthermore, our experience in building frames for pro racing has come in very useful. With all due respect to how comfortable the VERZAe models feel – at the end of the day, a Felt bicycle is all about performance. We are proud to present the VERZAe as a true member of the Felt family. With our tapered steerer technology, we managed to control the unusal forces that impact a frame with a very low down tube, so that riding and steering is safe and comfortable. Internal cable routing helps reduce damage that can be caused by accidents or vandalism. The battery. We put a lot of thought in to where to place the battery. The optimum solution was to integrate the battery onto the rack. With the rack being a part of the frame, the design looks neat and distinct. The VERZAe will exceed your highest expectations in regards to technical performance and enduring beauty. Last but not least, we’d like to mention that our bicycles are CE certified. One might call the Felt QX bikes the Cross version of the Felt SIX MTB. Simply put, the QX are a cross between 26” mountain bike stability and 700c road performance. The QX bikes are just the thing for riders who want a bike that can do anything – and is good at it, too.

Let’s have a look at the frame. The relationship to the MTB world is clearest where the tube’s look is concerned. Dynaforming processes are used as well as heat treatment to make the frame resilient, stiff and light. In spite of this, the frame’s look is delicate and elegant.

Some QX bikers prefer riding in and near towns. Others love the “kick” of small off-road rides. For this reason, we continued to develop the 2013 range. You’ll find bikes with a rigid fork (QX street) and low weight for quick rides in town or for training, while someone else may prefer a model with a suspension fork for rides away from paved ways. No matter what kind of riding you plan on doing – the QX series will offer the perfect flexibility for you.

The compact designed frame and the 28” wheels combine the advantages of the mountainbike geometry with the performance of a road bike. As a result you get comfort and a quick response to steering impulses.

The frame is packed with technology: hydroforming lets the tubes look clean and classy while the frame is sturdy, lightweight and stiff. Our product managers especially chose the components with regards to quality: You will find only parts of well known brands and functional disc- or V-brakes for security. Matching these components is the integrated light system of Busch & Müller combined with a Shimano hub dynamo. For a Trekking specific riding position, the ergonomic shape of stem and handlebar has been specially modified. Lightweight aluminum racks with mounts to fix panniers or bags makes converting the QX-EQ bikes to a commuting or touring bike easy. Details like the color matching fenders and chain guards contribute to the stylish look. Our experienced Felt engineers and product managers have crafted the QX-EQ series into to one of the most balanced bike lines in years.
