A proactive architecture student, always searching for new knowledge. I have participated in various workshops and courses that have added to my capacity as an architect. That said, my experiences have ranged from visual marketing workshops, to courses on general design which have led me to obtaining a global vision of architecture with a concentration on crucial areas that will support my talent as an architect.

Distinguished Mrs. Rengifo: Carla Rodríguez was first my student in an Introduction to Urban Design course during her 4th year as an undergraduate in the School of Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra [PUCMM] of Santo Domingo. As part of an outstanding generation of future architects at PUCMM, she’s a worthy representative of the human and academic quality of this School. Within this course, the group engaged in a Landscape Architecture competition promoted by the Ministry of the Environment in which an Urban Ecological Park had to be designed. Carla always showed special interest in environmental issues and how to integrate them to elaborate a holistic design at all scales of intervention. Her concern and interest always took things beyond the requirements stablished for the course, largely exceeding the demands and expectations on every job and presentation of it. Her group’s design was selected to represent the university in this national competition. During the present spring semester (2015), I’m having the opportunity to have Carla again as a student in the Design Studio 8 course, one of the most complex design studios due to its topic: Urban Design. In this course, as in the previous one, she highlighted for the depth of her research, the responsibility assumed towards the challenge that new scales represent and the indisputable everlasting motivation and contribution to the class. In this phase of her formation process, she’s already showing a tenacity and confidence on what she wants and believes in.

In personal terms, I’ve had the opportunity to construct an idea of the type of personality Carla has. She always shows integrity and irreproachable conduct, showing integration qualities, honesty, solidarity, respect, and loyalty. Without a doubt, her insatiable interest in growing and learning has enabled her to develop great interpersonal skills. I am convinced that at a personal and academic level it is unquestionable that her excellent qualities make her the perfect candidate to be part of this internship program at Arquitectonica International Corporation, because without a doubt, due to the level of commitment with which she assumes challenges, the results will always exceed expectations. THE NOMINATIONS FOR THE COMPETITION WERE REALIZED ON APRIL 22ND. MY GROUP (ACCE 11) WON SECOND PLACE, BEING THE ONLY GROUP FROM SANTO DOMINGO TO QUALIFY FROM A TOTAL OF 6 PROPOSALS OF THE NATIONAL DISTRICT. THE COMPETITION WAS DEVELOPED BY THE MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT.
