CLIENT SPOTLIGHT
Suzanne & Graham I loved photographing Graham and Suzanne’s Suzanne wedding at Hampton House, and it was everything a wedding should be. Not only were they surrounded by friends and family, it was a beautifully relaxed day. Because weddings are a flurry of excitement and special moments between loved ones, it is important to not only capture those smiles, glances and beautiful flowers; stunning photography also captures the wishes of the client. How can you be prepared p for the biggest day of your life so far? Graham and Suzanne share: THE BEST ADVICE FOR COUPLES. “It easy for so much of the planning to become a chore but don’t “It’s work with suppliers who make it all the more so. It was also important to us that we put our own stamp on the occasion and didn’t just follow traditions without thinking so I guess it’s important to step back and think about what’s important to you both and what isn’t.” WHICH ONE MOMENT WILL LAST FOR THEM FOREVER. Suzanne says, “For me as someone who hates being the centre cent of attention there was something just magical about the doors opening to reveal our closest friends and family looking so happy and then Graham at the end of the room looking so handsome and emotional! I couldn’t stop beaming all day.” Graham says, “The vows were we a chance to make declarations of love and friendship that demonstrated our commitment to one another in front of our favourite people. It was our chance to express ourselves with our unique stamp on an otherwise formal occasion.” P H O T O G R A P H Y R E L AT E D A D V I C E . “Definitely ensure ensu you meet your photographer beforehand to help build rapport! We were lucky with Carla so we pretty much giggled all the time in her company and that helped ensure we got more natural shots.” W H AT T H E Y L O V E D M O S T A B O U T W O R K I N G W I T H C A R L A T H O M A S P H O T O G R A P H Y. “When you're you' organising a wedding and especially when you've decided to give yourselves 3 months to do it all, a lot of it can actually be quite tedious and simply a chore. However, dealing with Carla was always a pleasure,” says Suzanne. “She managed to combine a calming and professional approach with being very understanding of everything else going on around us, which was greatly appreciated. In fact, she made it feel like we actually had a proper team around us helping ensure ensu we had the best day ever. And she never stops smiling given our wedding was all about 'floral fun' she definitely helped ensure we were always reminded the day was ultimately about celebrating.”

GETTING MARRIED WITHOUT BEING HARRIED 9 EASY STEPS FOR A STRESS FREE DAY • Find out what the rules for photographs are at the ceremony location. All venues are different, some restrict the location of photographs and even the times at which they are permitted. • Select your getting ready location with care. A room with lots of natural light will not only help with photos but ensure your make up artist with the tones and colours they apply. • Take time to take mental notes throughout your day. While I will be there to capture images for your album, stopping to absorb your day will keep the memories fresh. • Make sure you eat before your wedding. It will be hard with the nerves but it will be a while before you can eat at the reception. • Allowing 50% more time for hair and makeup than you originally anticipated alleviates the number one reason wedding schedules end up running late. • Ensure you have identified some who has all your supplier details for any last minute queries or changes. • Prepare an emergency wedding day kit with clear nail polish, mints, a sewing kit, stain remover, safety pins, bobby pins, pain reliever and mini deodorant. • For group photos, assgin a couple of ushers or family members to help corral people needed fo photos. This will help speed the process up and get you mingling with your guests quicker. • Remember, your suppliers work for you on the day of your wedding, including me. If you do not want to do something, simply say no. It’s your wedding day and you do not want any regrets.
YOUR WEDDING
A W E D D I N G D AY P H O T O T I M E L I N E A wedding is a whirlwind of events, gone in the blink of an eye. There’s little more important to a perfectly executed event than an organised timeline. If you are looking to effectively plan out your wedding day with your wedding coordinator or fiancÊ, here is a look at how long things typically take from my point of view. I am here to assist you in planning your day so that you do not miss a beat, so please contact me and I will be glad to help you create a schedule to make things go smoothly.
GETTING READY PORTRAITS: 60+ MINUTES I generally arrive 2 hours before the ceremony to document you getting the final touches to your make up, your dress, shoes, accessories etc. During this time I also capture some of the activity happen around you as you get ready. You may want to add more time if you would like any formal portraits during this time. CEREMONY: 5-60 MINUTES Ce Ceremonies vary in length depending on the type of service you are having with church wedding typically being longer than civil ones. Work with your officiant to find out roughly how long each part of your service will take and add five minutes to avoid running late if it runs longer than planned. GROUP PORTRAITS: 30+ MINUTES For each grouping, allow 3-5 minutes per photo. The larger the group, the more time it will take to get everyone in place. It takes roughly 30 minutes to take 10-12 group photos. It is probably best to have your formal group shots as soon as possible after your ceremony or upon arriving at your reception venue. Your guests can then mingle and relax while you are having your couple portraits taken. TRAVEL TIME: ADD MORE TIME THAN YOU THINK When multiple people are traveling together, it always takes more time than you think to get everyone together and ready to go. If taking separate cars, add more time for everyone to arrive and find parking. It is always better to over plan how long it will take than not to plan enough time.
COUPLE PORTRAITS: 30-60 MINUTES The are very few times during your wedding your day for There you to be alone, and this is one of them. My relaxed, natural photography style will give you some time to enjoy the fact you are husband and wife. You can even forget I am there for the most part as I capture you sharing a few precious moments in an otherwise busy day. I can take your portraits in as little as 10 minutes but if you would like a variety of photos, you can always schedule additional time. To ensure you are relaxed and undistracted during these photos, I ask that no one accompany us during this time. RECEPTION ROOM DECORATION: 30 MINUTES I enter the reception room before your guests arrive to photograph your cake and other decorations. I also take this time to set up any lighting that may be needed for the speeches. I will also speak to your wedding coordinator just before your guests arrive to see if there were any last minute changes to the reception schedule. DANCEFLOOR: 60 MINUTES The first dances generally take 10 minutes. After the first dance is over, I will continue to photograph the dance floor. While 60 minutes is generally enough to capture the story of the reception, you may choose to have me stay later if you want to take a bit of time to do some night photography before my coverage ends. A few weeks before your wedding, I will send you my Wedding Questionnaire form to complete with all your wedding details including locations, special wedding day events, timelines and much more. This information will ensure we are all on the same page for an unforgettable and stress-free event!

I T ’ S A L L I N T H E D E TA I L S . . . So many things are special about your wedding day. While they may seem like small details, the unassuming pillow your ring bearer carried might have been made from your Christening gown. Or those shoes with the delicate pearl buttons may have been your mother’s. These are the smaller, sometimes unnoticed details that tell the story of your special day, that I document for you. Whether it is your bouquet, your shoes or your something blue, it is all a part of your distinct personality as a couple, an expression of who you are as you embark on the next chapter of your life.

ALL ABOUT ALBUMS Your wedding album is a culmination of months of hard work, planning, excitement and love. It is the one tangible piece of your wedding day that you can continue to enjoy for years after the wedding is over. In a blink of an eye, the months of preparation and anticipation come together perfectly for one day made up of several hours and all the people you love and then just as quickly it passes and becomes a memory. Hold onto these memories better with a custom album that you can cherish and hand down to your children and grandchildren as a token of your time, style and love. Many well-intentioned couples who only get the disc of images never print their images at all, or only print a few for gifts or for display. However, there is a huge risk of losing the images and memories from them over time when you only have the digital files. With only the digital files, you are responsible for transferring the images from one type of digital media to another as technology advances every few years. Every time a file is transferred, there is a risk of file corruption. Not only that, but if life gets crazy and you fail to transfer it to the new media, you may end up with a beautiful disc of photos that you can’t see anymore because there’s no machine around to read the disc. This is why I believe that a professional wedding album is of the utmost importance. Even if you never do anything except store it in a closet, you will still have images to look at and enjoy years from now with no additional work whatsoever. Albums aren’t just for couples anymore. My parent albums are the perfect gifts to present to your parents after the wedding. Each parent album is a direct copy of your main album. All the cover options I offer for your main album, are also available for parent albums. Album Options My albums come with 30 or more pages, and are available in 10x10,10x14, and 12x12. Parent albums are also available as 6x6 or 8x6 sizes. Covers are available in a selection of silk, cotton or leather.
ENGAGEMENTS
considering an
ENGAGEMENT SESSION? Engagements are so engaging! Romance is in the air and the anticipation of a lifetime together comes to a crescendo in the rush during the weeks leading up to your wedding, causing you to wonder: Is an engagement shoot necessary? After all, your wedding pictures share the beginning of your life, right?
Tetting, while creating some fun images for wall portraits, your wedding guest book and Thank You cards. If shot early enough, I can also provide the images for your Save The Date cards and invitations. Images also add another dimension to your wedding album, chronicling the story from engagement to your wedding day.
Shooting an engagement is important for several reasons. First, this time allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera with your photographer, figuring out how you work best together before the wedding. Next, you can showcase your personalities in a more casuBM
Best of all, you can remember this special time forever away from the throngs of loved ones and friends. This is your time together.
