STYLE-steal THONET No. B9 Le Corbusier chair, $346.50, 1800 800 777 KIP & CO cushion cover, $65, kipandco.net.au

LIVING ROOM Here I am in the main room of the house – I want it to be as homely as possible. It’s filled with lots of fun pieces.

MARIMEKKO Siirtolapuutarha mug, $26, (02) 9299 0372

GARDEN I had these seat cushions covered in Missoni Dalia fabric, but they double as very comfortable day beds in summer!

VITRA cork stool, $685, spacefurniture.com

BEDROOM The artwork is by a friend, Freddy Ganim. I love its Italian vibe and the surprised expressions on the characters’ faces. It clashes dramatically with the Marimekko sheets. The bookshelf is a new addition to the house. It was a wedding present and it’s something we treasure.

LUCY FOLK’S cosy TERRACE IS A MIXED BAG OF quirky objects WHO Food-themed jeweller Lucy Folk (lucyfolk.com) and her husband, architect Charlie Inglis WHERE South Yarra, Melbourne WHAT Cheerful objets d’art cherry-picked from creative friends and travel adventures

After three years of renting, we bought this house in 2005. The previous owner was a builder and he did a great renovation, so we haven’t made any structural changes – just cosmetic ones. The biggest alteration was adding shutters. The house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a walk-in dressing room that’s all mine. I spend a lot of time in there. We love being in this area and feel pretty lucky to have the botanical gardens at one end of the street and a giant park at the other. Our living area is elevated and has doors that open out onto a small terrace. You couldn’t ask for a leafier area. It’s a convenient location, too – we’re close to the city, my boutique and Charlie’s office. I’m obsessed with colour and have filled the house with an eclectic combination of fun pop memorabilia, knick-knacks and humorous pieces. A lot of our artwork is by people we know. While I appreciate design and supporting my friends, I wouldn’t do so unless I genuinely liked their work. It’s a really nice way not only to showcase what you love, but also people you value, and it feels extra-special because we

super-important. I like to entertain my guests with food as well as art. I have breakfast and check emails here every morning.

JEWELLERY The vintage jewellery box was my grandmother’s. Ninety-nine per cent of the pieces in it are my creations.

so many generous gifts for our wedding in February 2012. At the head of the dining table is a huge digital print by French artist Geneviève Gauckler called Around the World. It’s one of our first pieces and I always seem to get swept up in it. My favourite spot is the dining room because that’s where we eat and entertain. We cook a lot, so it’s nice to have an open-plan kitchen where we can interact. In my opinion, the day should revolve around three meals. I grew up behind the scenes at my dad’s cafes, and in my family it’s really important to celebrate food. It’s become the inspiration for my work – I preserve the things we love to eat in precious things we love to wear. I’ve just launched my Pizza range in Europe, which features mozzarella twist rings and crochet crust necklaces. We’re both very content here. We’ve acquired art and made sure to develop the house slowly over time. There are lots of things we love and lust over, but we tend to covet objects that are design-oriented – and they come at a cost, so they take time to acquire. Charlie’s taste is a bit more serious and sophisticated than mine. He loves black and combining such materials as wood and concrete, whereas I’m all about a playful and naive – yet beautiful – aesthetic. We do like the same things; it’s just about getting the balance right. Currently it’s 60-40, but our next project will be 50-50 and more Charlie’s domain architecturally. The interiors will still be mine, though. Ultimately, this is our home and we’ve made sure it’s cosy and reflects both of our personalities.

STUDY The study is a refuge where I can work without distractions. I love art, design, cooking and travel books – we have to keep putting up new bookshelves! magazines I buy magazines across all genres, both here and overseas, and I rarely throw them away. They provide endless inspiration and I regularly use them as creative references.

i can’t live without…

BANANA PHONE I found this at the Paris flea markets. It’s not in use but I love it.

TRAVEL GUIDES A necessity! I usually buy one before each trip.

PRETZEL This is from a quirky design store in NYC. For my Nibbles collection, I cast pretzels in gold and silver.
