[ resume ]

lindsayy “

The radical role of the architect is best developed in architectural exploration and invention, in recognition of architecture’s and knowledge’s roles as experimental practices. Philosophy, architecture, science are not disciplines which produce answers or solutions, but fields which pose questions, and whose questions never yield the solutions they seek but which lead to the production of ever more inventive questions. Architecture, along with life itself, moves alongside of, is the ongoing process of negotiating, habitable spaces.

The bathing pavilion was designed to emphasize the reciprocating relationship between land and water. This relationship is revealed through erosion, which begins to create a dialogue between light vs. heavy, mass vs. volume, and solid vs. void. These dialogues are revealed through a phenomenological experience as one descends down into the space. The elongated path is designed to slow one down by capturing the essence of water and it’s inability to remain completely still. The user is then always aware of their body’s scale within the space because it is changing at a slow and constant rate along with the water.
