What is Hebel?

Hebel is a high-performance building product made in Australia from Autoclaved Aerated Concrete.

It comes in panels that are fixed to the house frame and then rendered in a 2 coat finish.

Building your home in Hebel means you can have a strong, solid, beautiful fully rendered home that is cool in summer, warm in winter and quiet to live in.

Is Hebel as strong as brick?

Hebel panels contain anti-corrosion steel reinforcement, making them strong, solid and a reliable choice for building your home. Tests have shown that Hebel PowerPanel and traditional brick have a similar impact resistance.

Can Hebel crack?

Hebel is a strong, solid building product, and as mentioned, has a similar impact resistance to traditional brick. To prevent and minimise cracking, we use an acrylic render system, applied by an experienced renderer.

How can I protect the look of my Hebel walls?

We recommend adding Dulux AcraTex AcraShield to your render. AcraShield is a protective coating that substantially increases the durability and colour consistency of your render. It significantly improves washability, dirt accumulation, pollution and chemical attack.

Can I secure things like lights, clotheslines, and hose reels to my Hebel walls?

Using the correct fitting for the relevant fixture will help avoid any potential damage occurring to the wall. Information about which fittings to use for different types of fixtures is available on the Hebel website. Not unlike brick, homeowners should be aware that items such as gates, decks, pergolas and basketball hoops can cause vibrations or excessive loads on Hebel walls. These items shouldn’t be secured to walls.

Can I choose a Hebel facade with a brick house & vice versa?

It is important to understand that the material you select for your facade (brick or Hebel) is the material used to build the exterior of your home. It’s not possible to have a Hebel facade with the remainder of the house in brick. Likewise brick facades are not available with Hebel built homes.
