/ABOUT ME I am an architect specialized in sustainable design, technology and innovation solutions within the architectural field. I graduated at Polytechnic of Turin with a research study about architectural restoration and heritage valorization of a historical wine cellar situated in an UNESCO area. After my graduation I decided to investigate the issue of sustainability in terms of design strategies aimed to optimize environmental, energetic and social behaviours in urban environment. I attended the post-graduate master course ‘School of Sustainability’ in 2017/18, where I was able to improve my skills in parametric design, green energy design strategies and smart technologies for the built environment. During the SOS program I had the opportunity to work on the design of the SmarTown installation at Fuori Salone in Milan 2018 and I developed a project in Dubai for the “Future living in the UAE”. I am currently Program Coordinator at SOS, where I am constantly involved in architectural competitions and international workshops in which the school is active participant, such as IGEBC, a Chinese competition to design a sustainable building office where we achieved the first prize. During the last experience as Program Coordinator in SOS I developed new significant expertise in team project management and work optimization, problem solving, communication and external relation, as well as gaining ability in the concept and construction design phase.

For more informations about my experience, have look at my cv and portofolio.

/Peace Pavilion Program International Competition, Pavilion Location SĂŠdhiou, Casamance, Senegal, Africa Client Kaira Looro Project team Freelance Kaira Looro Peace Pavilion aims at diffusing awareness about the numerous wars afflicting the African continent inviting to reflection. Preserving memory is essential to ensure that history is not repeated. Since reflection is the starting point to consolidate collective memory, the pavilion is intended to bring knowledge and to foster meditation, so that people can understand the real value of peace. The building is designed to inspire meditation and to communicate a deep feeling of peace through an essential and highly symbolic architectural language. The key element of the composition is the central path, which represents the inner walk inside memory that everyone of us shall follow, emphasised by the cut on the roof. Every element strongly marks the tension of the space towards the goal (meditation) symbolised by a tree, to which the perspective converges. The use of resources and building techniques is inspired by vernacular architecture. Building materials are locally sourced.and easy to work and assemble.

THREE MAIN FUCTIONAL ZONES

A WALK DOWN MEMORY

THREE VOLUMES, THREE CHARACTERS

WELCOME TO WATER

The project area is divided into three parts which correspond to three main functions: exhibition, awareness, contemplation.

The wire that links the parts of the whole is the path that is also an inner walk inside memory, from knowledge to deep reflection.

The three volumes take shape from their characters. The exhibition area open and permeable to view; the awareness area enveloped and concentrated; the contemplation area symbolically centred on the tree.

The concave roof splits along the middle axis of the building. The central cut receives water and takes it to the pool in the contemplation area, marking at the same time the importance of the main central path.

Exhibition event, temporary pavilion Piazza Santo Stefano, Bologna, Italy Iris Ceramica Group School of Sustainability, Mario Cucinella Architects Concept Design

In 1972 in Piazza Santo Stefano was staged an exhibition called Pollution. With Pollution the historic piazza of Bologna was paved with ceramic tiles and 23 artists interpreted their vision of a mutant nature. “Pollution was also the name of the tile made by Iris Ceramica, reproducing a photographed piece of earth, ten thousand specimens were laid on the whole surface of the square. the work starts from the complaint that characterized the first edition of Pollution, synthesized in the 5 pillars, to get to one search for new tools that allow responsible use, shared urban space, where to re-build the link between man and nature. The idea proposal, RefleAction, wants to be a narrative path between ecology, art and urban space that takes form in the same place that previously hosted it: piazza Santo Stefano Bologna.

Housing, commercial and pubblic spaces Al Safa, Dubai, UAE Cimolai - Rimond Mario Cucinella Architects, School of Sustainability, Arup

The aim is to develop a pilot project that addresses sustainability at all scales of design, from masterplanning throughout the building process to architectural output, and re-establishes the lost connections between culture and technology. Designing homes for the new generations of Emirati implies to find more subtle although profound ways to embed the legacy of local culture than to mimic vernacular architecture, and to connect contemporary lifestyles with the long lasting values embedded in the societal and cultural patterns that were produced over the centuries as an effect of climate.

Built Exhibition event, temporary installation Milan, Italy ENI Gas e Luce, Hive Mario Cucinella Architects, School of Sustainability Concept Design, Preliminary and Detailed Design

Our interaction with energy is evolving thanks to the more conscious use we make of it and thepossibilities offered by an increasingly efficient and innovative connectivity, with positive effects both onus and on the environment around us. The intangible beauty of energy is staged in the Brera Botanical Garden by Eni Gas and Luce, in partnership with Hive. The installation, which is part of the House in Motion event 2018 promoted by Interni magazine for FuoriSalone in Milan, interprets the Brera Botanical Garden as a smart city where history coexists with the most advanced urban models. Visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in a scenography populated by small units - all to be explored - that stand out against the skyline of an imaginary city, becoming the protagonists of an interactive space where the new Smart Home continually dialogues with the urban context.

My thesis is focused on a historical complex situated in a border zone of UNESCO. The complex is composed by different buildings whose the main is an historical house of the 17th century. The aim of my research is wine cellar’s redevelopment whitout affecting the old buildings and adding in the complex the new wine cellar. The intervention consisted on the strengthened of the pre-existent structure and integration with a new wood structure that supports the walkable roof. Furthemore, the intention is adding new areas such as barricade basement floor, the roof-garden used for events,open-air museum and walkable roof used as view point. On technological level it has been provided an internal coat and passive shading system.
