To further develop and promote responsible, free and competent campus journalism in our school, the heads and editors of The Christian Gazette, the official student-community publication of Cavite Christian School, would like to ask your permission to conduct the 5th Summer Workshop in Campus Journalism on April 26-28, 2011 at CCS Campus, F & E de Castro Subdivision, Aniban V, Bacoor, Cavite. 2. The theme of the live-out training-workshop “The Role of Campus Media to Societal Change” focuses on the importance and essence of campus journalism to the changes in our society these days. 3. This training program aims to enable the participants to: a. Enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly competitions such as the individual and group contests. b. Be aware of the happenings behind the school’s triumph in different fields of specialization and excellence. c. Demonstrate the spirit of camaraderie, unity, cooperation and teamwork 4. This training program will be organized by the heads and editors of The Christian Gazette as of school year 2010-2011 in which most of them are divisional, regional and national conference winners and participants. This is open to ALL upcoming and current intermediate and secondary students of Cavite Christian School especially ALL other members of the editorial board. 5. Activities during the training-workshop include lectures and contests for individual contests (newswriting, editorial writing, sportswriting, feature writing, editorial cartooning, photolayouting and, copyreading and headline writing) and group contest (school paper layouting), including special sessions (school paper management and radio broadcasting and scriptwriting) which are all included in division, regional and national press conferences. These are included in the matrix of activities given (see Enclosure no.1).


6. Pre-registration will be held from April 2, 2011 to April 15, 2011; where April 7, 2011 (distribution of report cards) is the expected peak day. Actual registration will, then, be held on the first day of the event, April 26, 2011. Details about the registration are presented in Enclosure no. 3. 7. All participants shall pay a registration fee of One Hundred Pesos (PhP100) on the first day of the event to cover food for the last day, certificates, training and contest kits, honoraria for the speakers/evaluators, props, and, supplies and materials. 8. All participants shall present his/her copy of the registration form upon arrival on the first day of the training program. They are also encouraged to bring their lunch and snacks for the first two days, pencil, pen, notebook, two sheets of white cartolina, ruler, black permanent marker, sign pen and other materials to be announced soon. 9. All organizers (heads and editors of the editorial board, advisers and the administration) shall conduct a meeting to finalize all activities on April 18, 2011, Monday. 10. Pre-registration is open from April 2, 2011 (Saturday) to April 16, 2011 (Saturday). Pre-registration will be done through campus, online or SMS. In online pre-registration, the applicant may register through messaging on Facebook or e-mail. Facebook messaging: Click “Send Message” on www.facebook.com/thechristiangazette (or search for The Christian Gazette (Cavite Christian School) using the search box). Then follow the instructions for E-mail. E-mail: With the Subject, “5th Summer Workshop in Campus Journalism Registration”, type your full name, age, birth date, upcoming year level, gender, contact number, email address; (for “in case of emergency”) name, relationship, address and contact number.
