PERSONAL STATEMENT
As a Professional Designer with high-level management experience in the Architecture Industry, I’ve learned that the best way to stay motivated, achieving high quality performance is to find yourself doing what you like the best. Thus, several years ago I took the decision to follow the path of contemporary architecture practice. I just graduated from the program M.Sc. Media Architecture from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, where I deepened research on technological innovation, media and its integration with architecture. Nowadays I’m particularly interested on how the economy is shifting from physical worlds into virtual spaces and digital interconnections. I should mention my previous work in Mexico city at HERNANDEZDELAGARZA S.A DE C.V, leading the architectural design department, I’ve been involved in specific ways of contemporary architecture practice; the first one is the development of modernist design, focusing attention on minimal aesthetics and constructions details, the second one is focused on international contests, where the proposals are conceptualized pushing the limits through digital design techniques, and the third one are Stands, where the approach to corporate design and branding requirements allows to integrate innovation through media techniques.

Helsinki Central Library Valolaatikko, which means Light Box, is the proposal of an international competition for the design of a Central Library located in the center of Helsinki. The design is a functional result of the study and combination of culture, entertainment and technology so that it can be much more than a traditional library. Its form adjust to the urban context of the Töölönlahti area allowing to have different views of the cityscape as well as creating a relation to the park and bay located close to the library thanks to its dynamic skin which covers most of the building. Also, the building promotes the pedestrian and cycle access from the plaza, park or the street. The skin’s openings will be optimized to promote daylight to all habitable spaces and passive solar heating to communal circulation areas. A public project like this is the perfect opportunity to be a showcase for Sustainable Design. Innovative Strategies, should be evaluated and if implemented, have the potential to be a learning source for users and visitors. The proposed library will meet the highest standards for sustainability by following an ‘Integrated Approach’ throughout the design process. The project will achieve a minimum rating of a recognized International Certification Scheme such as LEED ®, BREEAM International, Living Building Institute or equivalent.

SOLAR ACCESS ANALYSIS These graphs show the cumulative isolation values for the whole year in Helsinki. This analysis helped to identify which surfaces will receive the most and the least solar radiation. It can be seen that the south vertical surfaces are the ones that receive the most solar radiation, followed by the west and the east planes. Then the sloped roofs toward the park are surfaces with the least radiation.

AMSTERDAM 297 The project is defined as a mixed-use building which includes four apartments, two of 105 m2 and 2 of 180 m2, two PH of 180 m2 with roof garden and a restaurant. It is located on Amsterdam street in Mexico city. The main facade responds to the inner function of the complex, creating a continuous connection through the terraces. This unique element along the faรงade helps for the integration of large openings in each apartment, allowing an excellent illumination inside the common areas. The ground floor was designed for a commercial space, specifically a restaurant, which would be part of the life on the Amsterdam corridor.

Dream’s Pavilion
Dreams Pavilion 2013 New York Our Proposal is based on the reutilization of recycled car tires, which after concluding their usual life cycle we adapt them in an architectonic approach that provides protection against inclement weather, as well as generates public ergonomic spaces to read, play, work, eat, take a nap, or just relax. Due to the material composition, this structure will provide parents the security they need when their children use the space as a playground. They would be able to jump, climb, run, or play safely. The circular floor plan of the pavilion responds to the same circular form of the tire, located in a radial way in which initial point points the principal access to the pavilion. This generates a central yard which can be used for leisure and entertainment such as concerts, lectures, conferences, etc.

Island Map
Dreams Pavilion 2013 New York There are 18 to 20 million wasted car tires generated annually in New York. This waste material is left in the New York Residential HHW Drop-Off Site storage, located in 605W 30th St. New York, NY 10001. Usually this material is not being recycled, so we propose to use this pneumatics in our concept during the exhibition. After is finished, the tires are destined to waste storages where they can continue their recycling process as crumb rubber or fuel. In this architectonic proposal we want to exploit the resources 100%, in this case cataloging the waste storage places of pneumatics as a raw material source, generating a great support for actual ecological movements. The project could be visualized as a reflection of citizens’ participation on fighting against global contamination.

Patio House 2011 Estado de Mexico Patio House is located in the State of Mexico, Mexico. On the first floor are the parking lots and the service bedroom. Entering the house from the front door found the living rrom, the dining room. The circulation revolves around an inner courtyard, which can be accessed from three sides. East of the house has the kitchen with the room service, and to the west lies an open terrace. The bedrooms are on the back of the house, along with their respective closets and bathrooms. A square within a square is the scheme that governs the distribution of space, allowing a simple way of contemplation and contact with the outside on a private view. The aesthetics of the house is governed by the simplicity and minimalism of the orthogonal white wall, as well as transparency of the main facade, which, stretches across the width of the house with a clean and free flying.

Sky Condos 2011 Lima, Peru Located on a privileged area of the City of Lima and with views towards the golf course, we sought to create an icon for the future, a new luxury housing concept in Latin America; combining the idea of incorporating the exterior space to the interior life of the apartments and creating a new relation between public and private areas. The proposal focuses on the generation of a clean, functional and avant-garde building .From the third department, the faรงade twist few degrees to maximize the surface contact with the outside in a 35% , and to focus the views of the most important areas (Stay and master bedroom), in the direction of the park. The 20 floor tower has a facade that is mainly transparent allowing the integration of the building to the exterior; generating crossed ventilation and natural lighting in all the spaces without sacrificing the privacy inside the apartments.

Urrea 2011 Mexico city The 2011 Urrea Stand uproots on a 140 m2 platform in one of the largest exhibition of construction in Mexico. Under an open plan scheme, the Stand is distributed in 5 settings, for each of the 5 exposed lines. The project has a mezzanine, which enables the interaction with the user through a paint roller that discovers a digital image in the wall. In the middle of the stand we can find an interactive wall, which consists of restroom accessories and digital cards that project images of the exposed product lines in screens. An interactive shower device was also integrated to the design. It works as a cabin that simulates flowing water as if you were taking a bath.

Comex 2012 Mexico city The biggest challenge for the development of this proposal was to integrate a diverse architectural program, where the Mexican Painting company Comex, could show the different solutions that account for the different segments, through the residential to industrial. The segments are divided into an architectural typology, and each display area allows Comex products for different applications, through furniture, walls and floors. This is precisely to demonstrate the concept of the exhibition. The roof of 450 m2 contains the different segments, which differ by volumes and colors, thus creating a clear space between each area, along with promoting aesthetic game between program segments.

Light Pillars 2015 Jena, Germany The project is based on a visual light phenomenon called “Light pillar”, created by the reflection of light from ice crystals which are suspended in the air. The installation aims to represent operations and cycles of living systems, on the one side invisible data from internal biological processes of plants, and on the other side human movements. Thus, people will be able to visualize hidden functions from other forms of life and also they will identify themselves with a strong symbol. “Der botanische Garten” in the city of Jena will be the building to host the Media Façade intervention as communicative interface, which will be attach on a section of the eastern side. The greenhouse hold different variety of plants that will be use to extract information through the principle of biofeedback technique, that focuses on obtaining data on various physiological functions of an organic body, using instruments to obtain records on different cycles of these organisms. By translating the received biofeedback readings in a synthesis of intermittent data, it will end up producing an abstract visualization.

Furthermore the MediaFacade system will be shaped by two mirrors which are facing each other, in order to create an infinite reflection from any light that is in it. The mirror which is in the outside layer should be translucent, so the reflection could be admired from the outside. The lights of the frame will created a virtual illusion of deepness and the lights of the bottom will draw a line on a translucent fabric to generate the form of a pillar. Afterguard the light pillars will strength through the intermittent data extracted from plants, and also will follow the movements of the people through tracking technology.

The idea of the installation „Sonnengarten“ was to create a counterweight to the dominance of concrete and steel at the “Sonnenhof” in Jena. Connected by adopting given shapes of the courtyards modern architecture and design, the installation was supposed to be a temporary suggestions to improve the quality in public places by nature. The two existing ventilation shafts are used for the installations. By using organic materials for the construction and green walls with grass and plants, the installations are an contrast to the surrounding so that the site gets the attention it deserves as a central place in the city. While being neutral on site at daytime, at night the project set the courtyard in a new light and creates a completely new atmosphere. The top and bottom covers of the installation are transparent and allow to visualize a play of light from the inside. To involve the idea of a new way to get attention for nature in cities, while touching the plants the proportion of light changes. Not only so that people get connected to the place also they should directly get in touch with the plants and use them in a way the might never thought about before.
