A new typology of civic institution aimed at boosting democratic urban governance Student, CASS A hybrid between an overground station and a community hall, which aims to maximize people’s footfall in an attempt to bring together and in direct conflict all the many different types of actors which are currently at play in the Urban planning system in Southwark, London. A partial redevelopment, partial retrofit based on the unused car park of the council housing Tustin Estate, functioning as a catalyst of democratic urban governance, learning structures and leisure facilities, in an effort to bridge the gap between the current scattered system of governance and its detachment form the public reach, affecting the city as a hole to allow for more affordable space to be designated.

CITIZENSʼ STATION
The current status and nature of the station is transformed into a new civic hybrid, no longer designed for an uninterrupted flux of people but to become a stationary place. Signage, turnstiles and services are redesigned to empower citizens, gathering, creating and openly exchanging an ongoing body of urban data. 5

Rethinking urban migrants centers and the inefficient asylum seeking system Student, CASS, showcased in What Design Can Do exhibition, Amsterdam This project is based on rethinking the inefficient asylum seeking process. The goal is to set up a new generation of reception center in UK urban center. These should provide basic services as well as training to facilitate migrants’ integration. On the other hand it should directly expose local residents to stories and the history of humans’ geographical mobility. This system should be based in buildings in limbo that are awaiting planning permission, demolition, redevelopment, or are unused spaces. By setting up a co-operative focused on short-life housing, scattered individuals would become more powerful. Buildings will be maintained, the cooperative will benefit from cheaper rent, and empty urban spaces will be put to use.

Refugees reception centers have been set up around European cities, increasingly isolated from the labor and leisure machines of the country where they reside. Reception centres are limbos, nonplaces where immigrants are secluded without time limit or purpose. While all this takes place right around the corner of our houses, We are bombarded with info graphics and occasional pictures that portray shocking images of a detached crisis.

What would happen if this reality shifted, if the two parties came closer creating the conditions for a greater friction and misunderstanding to occur? Could these moments of conflict create a productive exchange able to subvert the negative fate of the crisis?
C A L A I S K I D S S P A C E Prefabricated deployable civic & training center for youngsters in refugees camps Design collaborator, TAK TAK TAK After spending some time in the camp, as group of young architects we decided to produce a space necessary for the inhabitants of the ‘Jungle’, the refugee camp near Calais. The hope is to bring home new, fresh images of a place unknown and scary, too often associated with the cause of the current crisis rather than the potential solutions. In the ‘Jungle’ there are many children and teenagers who are going through one of the most crucial stages of their development, in terrible conditions. We are determined to bring a little improvement, building a space where children can feel safer. The project seeks to reflect these complex needs. It is designed to be very cheap but maintaining the properties of a dignified place. [Carpentry and Metalwork, Watercolor, 3DAecosim]

T L AT E L O L C O W E AV E New workspace system improves residents’ livelihood in Mexico City ‘s estates Student, AA Merging working and living realms within the modernist estate of Nonalco-Tlatelolco (Mario Pani 1958) in Mexico City. The strategy involves a CNC self-assembled loom that weaves waste materials to create extensions out of and in contrast with the modernist estate. H beams bridge across the existing structures, allowing residents to self-build and bring workspace within the housing estate. This project aims to revert the current standard Mexico City’s urban development while nurturing the country’s textile production and informal living culture.

It is adaptable stackable and wheelable and can be arranged to connect any street ending on the River Greenway. This is part of a broader co-visioning process, the Futuro de Frogtown which we set up to understand the community’s vision of the neighborhood to subsequently propose a new plan to modify the ongoing gentrification of the area. [CNC work, Carpentry and Paintworks, InDesign, Autocad, Photoshop, InDesign, Vray]

The project spans across several years and aims to create a new regeneration model for the abandoned historical center of Quito, so that It would not lose it’s inherent diversity of uses and existing residents.
