Speakers James Chesson James Chesson was Digital Media Officer for the SPA and Online Editor for Concrete, University of East Anglia's student newspaper - which was Highly Commended for best website at the 2017 SPA Awards. He will be giving a talk about how to make the most of social media, both as individual journalists and as publications, and also digital content & analytics. James McAllister James McAllister is the London Economic's film editor, and he'll be talking all things reviews. James has worked as a film critic for a number of online publications over the last 5 years, including CultureFly and FlickFeast, and has covered releases, premieres and international film festivals. He's very excited to impart his wisdom to you! Teague Howie Hipkiss Teague Howie Hipkiss is a Graphic Design Apprentice at Norwich City Football Club, where he designs print, social media, retail and email graphics among many other things like times he's basically created the entire visual arm for marketing campaigns. He used to be The Edge magazine's Head of Design, where he was responsible for completely changing the face of their design in a year which saw them shortlisted for Best Design and Best Specialist Publication at SPANC, and win Best Department at their student union Media Ball. He's going to be talking about his design experience, his day-to-day life as a design apprentice, differences between good and bad design examples, and how he's made some of the things he's designed. Sheena Campbell Sheena Campbell is a freelance journalist and copy editor, press officer for Spectrum Lab, and previously worked for Johnston Press. Aside from being a formidable shorthand wizard, she'll be talking about how to make your copy great Kit Bradshaw Kit studied politics at Sussex and was heavily involved in student media; holding two committee positions for the student radio station, URF, and writing for The Badger. He stayed on for a year after graduating, being elected to the Students’ Union as Communications Officer in 2012. After several years working in communications for the NHS and police service, Kit gained a masters in broadcast journalism from City University London in 2016. He went on to freelance for a number of TV and radio outlets before joining Sky News. Kit has worked in a number of roles across platforms – including Carly-May Kavanagh

reporting on technology stories on TV. He is currently a reporter for Sky News Radio and can regularly be heard reporting on major news stories on commercial radio stations across the UK. He’s on Twitter @kitbradshaw. Jamie Windust Jamie is a UK Based Fashion Management and Marketing graduate from UCA Epsom, as well as the founder and editor in chief of GFW Award Winning FRUITCAKE Magazine, focusing on honest, authentic and creative LGBTQIA+ representation. Jamie picked up the ASOS Communications Award for emerging talent at the 2018 Official Graduate Fashion Week Gala show, and has written for Cosmopolitan UK, Pink News, XXY Magazine and Fashion Fix Daily. Jamie has recently also signed to Crumb model agency, one of the first agencies in London to include a non-binary board on their model books. They will be talking about freelancing and the process of creating their magazine, FRUITCAKE. Hannah Gray Hannah Gray didn't go to university until she was 25. First she went into performing arts at the age of 16 and worked for the Walt Disney Company in Paris and Tokyo. In 2012 she started at Sussex University, graduating in 2015 with a First Class Honours in International Development. While studying at Sussex she worked at BBC Radio Sussex and Heart Radio Sussex. She went on to do a Masters in Broadcast Journalism at City University and is now a producer and reporter for BBC London News. She's also worked at BBC Breakfast News, BBC World News, Channel 5 News and ITV's Good Morning Britain.
Food and Drink Falmer Bar does food and drinks and has a coffee shop in the back. It is downstairs in the building we will be based in. There are various other cafes around, there is a nice one in building opposite where we'll be, in the ACCA. Also, there is a co-op on campus and a union shop in the same building we'll be in.
