SCOPE Spa in Toronto, Ontario IRN 600 - Design Studio February - April 2016 Year Three The mixed use development focuses on the idea of using existing environments in the city for the Toronto demographic to thrive. With focus on Toronto’s WaterFront Region, the image of the Toronto Island was extracted as a barrier in the flow and development in the Toronto WaterFront Region. The constructed interior was created by borrowing axes from the surrounding and then extrapolating these axes to create masses that continue the flow of movement from the context. Secondary mass levels and passages act as fissures in the dominant axes to improve ease and access. The axes achieve complexity from level changes in the walkable surface. The design aims to create spaces that are relevant to human scale.
