INTRODUCING OSTEOPATHY IN YOUR FAMILY’S LIFE

Osteopathy has been a mainstay in the lives of many people from around the world. Whether its in China with their age-old alternative medicine to the busy streets of New York, you can be sure that there will always be a place for osteopathy both figuratively and literally. But despite the popularity of this service and branch of science, there are still a lot of people, parents included, who are not sure whether it would be a good idea to introduce this form of healing into their lives. Doubly more introduce this to the lives of their children. The whole notion of osteopathy started in 1874 with Andrew Taylor Still MD. It was during his time as a medical practitioner that he was able to coin the term based partly on the Greek word “osteo” which meant “bones”. Osteopathy is categorized by many as an alternative medicine and its basically the setting and readjustment of bones plus the manipulation of muscles by touch. While there are some people and even nations that do not believe in the potent power of osteopathy, it has still garnered widespread support all around the world. Its also through this support and vast following that the art and medicine has thrived in the last five years or so. Many new “osteopaths” have popped up and opened shop while the older generation has given way to the younger ones. There’s also the fact that there are so many new techniques and procedures that makes many wonder why people aren’t so impressed with this alternative medicine.

Before it was really just bones and muscles and these days, when you visit an osteopathy clinic, you would see that they have grown leaps and bounds. They are now offering various types of services, still osteopathic in nature, like cranial osteopathy treatment. For this specific type of treatment, practitioners are needed to have an exceptional sense of touch to make the treatment work. Labs and offices that have osteopathy practitioners working for it have also changed their way of treatment with more flexibility (no pun intended) for patients. What was usually thrice a week can be done twice a week with a longer space between treatments. Even better is the fact that the new practitioners of osteopathy are currently better equipped with dealing with patients who are younger. Now there are things like a baby osteopath service which is dedicated specifically for kids and toddlers. Because kids and young ones have weaker bones compared to adults, special training is required to handle their needs. One can’t just go and fix or touch injured body parts of the children. You need to be trained to handle patients with specific amount of delicateness. Some of the basic ailments and pains that gets treated to a lot of success includes neck pains, sciatica, muscle strains, lower back pain, shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulder, shoulder rotator cuff tears, hip instability, tennis elbow, groin problems, labral tears and a whole lot more. So this is definitely several good reasons why you should need to introduce osteopathy to your family; for a healthy life for years and years to come.
