A learner, creator, and leader, Carmen Bordofsky is graduating from the University Pippa & CO (2022) Boutique Head of California Berkeley with a degree in Landscape Architecture in the Spring of LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, AND CLUBS 2024. She has cultivated a strong passion for conservation, planting design, and Nanny (2017 -present) human-nature interaction. A worker with I tutored, cooked and cared for children 6 months-14 years old. a growth mindset and innovative thinking powers, Carmen seeks to enter the field of Planty Social (2020 -2023) Design Chair Landscape Architecture with yarn to push the boundaries of what is possible within the FAST (2020 -2022) scope of landscape design. She is Website Head intensely interested in pollination, food systems, playscape, and urban ecology. As a lifelong creator, outdoors enthusiast, camper, and designer, Carmen's dedicated work ethic and interest make her an exceptional landscape designer.

Monarch Park Carmen Bordofsky

Exploring natural shapes, interaction, and education, Monarch Park seeks to redesign the Maritime Garden in San Francisco. Rooted in the concept of public education, this project aims to teach about the issue of Monarch Butterfly migration. Composed of a swooping pollinator garden, concrete stage, and vivarium, this park adds movement and exploration to the San Francisco waterfront.

Monarch Stage sits in the ecotone of Monarch Park, acting as a transition space from sand to grass, beach to park. To be utlized for leisure, community events, performaonces, space division etc.

Regneration Carmen Bordofsky + Angela Clearwater

Regeneration is a partner installation project rooted in the monarch butterfly's life cycle. Anglea and I, having explored the monarch butterfly's magic and importance, wanted to create an exhibit honoring and highlighting their life cycle. As a permanent installation at Blake Garden in Berkeley, CA, our Regeneration sculpture aims to inspire awe and creativity and raise the importance of this unique species.

Sutro Bath's Crossing Carmen Bordofsky

Sutro Bath's Crossing seeks to increase access throughout Sutro Bath's Park via the addition of an immersive experience across a raised path. The planting plan is specially designed to aid in soil rejuvenation. The access points are currently unsafe to reach, this design intervention will increase usership and human-nature connection.

Pioneer Park Competition Carmen Bordofsky Desgin Futrust Competition 2023

Pioneer Park, located in San Francisco and home to Coit Tower, is being replanted. This design considers fire retardant planting interventions while seeking to increase biodiversity by planning a planting pallet that cultivates increased opportunity for pollinator bugs to thrive.

A forest composed of Aesculus california, Cercis occidentalis, and Cupresus macrocarpa provid needed habitat for the Monarch Butterfly during their migration.

Pollinator gardens composed of Romneya coulteri, Eschoscholiza californica, Rosemary officials, Agreostis densiflora, Lupinus densifiers, and Achillea milliefolium draw in needed pollinators and increase biodiversity.

This thesis seeks to explore the function and purpose of California avocado orchards. It highlights the possibility of avocado orchards venturing into the urban fabric and looks at possible design interventions to increase native pollination and human proximity to food systems.
