Cowans Point, Bowen Island. A piece of property located on an amazing island that I have been going to since I was born. My father and his family starting cabinig there in the summer during the 50’s renting a cabin from the Rogers family, from Rogers sugar. In 1977my late grandfather had the phenomenal insight to purchase of piece of this majestic land for all $25,000.In 1987 we built a cabin on the property and now it is my families little piece of heaven. Over the years, our cabin has gone from no electricity and a wood burning stove to a fully functioning home with cable, dishwasher, microwave the whole deal in which my parents will be retiring to in the coming years. My parents, with 5 other families own a gorgeous 7-acre spot on the original Cowan’s point. It got this name from George Cowan an industrious pioneer who discovered this slice of heaven and called it his own. He thought of the island as special, and unique and wanted it to be a location for artist and intellects to get inspiration and piece. Today the island has not changed too much in that regard. It brings peace and tranquility from a busy city life. Only twenty minutes away by ferry, you can feel completely detached from the world and in the middle of nature. Bought from the ancestors of George Cowan, bought it in 1977 for $25,000,7 acres with tons of waterfront
