Like that of a supermodel dressed in coveralls, Revelstoke’s beauty is gradually exposed once you peel off a few layers, revealing more than that first impression. It’s a little backwoods upon first glance, but that’s what makes it so appealing. It’s confident in what it has to offer

More than a Property: The Story Told There is a special place nestled in a special town surrounded by the majesty of the Columbia Mountains. It is a home designed for living and entertaining, coming and going, and all things active. Often there are fat skis and fat bikes in the carport storage, but in the summer months those are swapped for kayaks, mountain bikes and fishing rods. Friends are arriving, trucks are being loaded and unloaded with seasonal toys and shared meals are on the table, making daily life here better than most people’s vacations. This red brick, mixed use, heritage-style building sits on the corner of Second Street and Orton Avenue in the heart of Revelstoke, BC. This custom designed residence on the second floor overlooks the town’s historical downtown core and is commonly known as 200 Revelstoke.

It is a beautifully finished two-bedroom, 3,905 square foot home in the centre of what has become Canada’s newest resort municipality. Among other things, Revelstoke is renowned for being home to North America’s longest vertical descent. This fact alone is what attracts a global community of heli-skiers and heli-boarders, who flock to the powdery glaciers and inviting alpine. 200 Revelstoke was built in 2008 and yet its design is distinctly old world, paying tribute to the town’s colourful pioneering heritage. The people behind the vision are native Texans, Steve and Pat Platt, who are lovers of the mountains, Canadiana and a relaxed lifestyle. And their exemplary work has not gone unnoticed. In 2009, the City of Revelstoke awarded 200 Revelstoke with a prestigious Heritage Award, recognizing its ability to capture and reflect the spirit of Revelstoke’s architectural heritage.

A Town Reawakened: Revelstoke Today The Revelstoke of today is a far cry from the days when mining was the area’s most important industry. Walk the streets of Revelstoke and you’ll quickly discover a small, funky town with a welcoming feel, full of youthful energy. Just out your front door are cafes, restaurants, bars, spas, boutiques and of course, yoga studios. Revelstoke Mountain Resort sits a five minute drive up the road. Revelstoke is a city that’s neither big, nor particularly trendy; a place that’s vibrant, safe, genuine and full of friendly people. Surrounded by national parks, Revelstoke is a city where summer flows into winter and winter to summer again. Each season seamlessly transforms itself into the next, offering a multitude of outdoor opportunities for residents and visitors alike. Yes, skiing and snowboarding are outstanding, but so too are summer activities such as hiking, biking, climbing and caving. Revelstoke is fortunate to have an economy that’s growing in stride with its popularity as a resort destination. In the last decade, the city has seen the emergence of countless new businesses in the service, adventure tourism and trade sectors, newly installed educational facilities and of course, Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Additionally, essential services and support services are seeing growth with demand for more. The installation of fibre optic telecommunications, easy connection to the Trans Canada Highway and proximity to Kelowna International Airport have made Revelstoke more accessible than ever before.

The Heartbeat of Heliskiing: The Selkirk Mountains Opening its first gondola door in 2007, Revelstoke Mountain Resort has emerged onto the global scene as one of the most popular skier/boarder experiences anywhere. 5,620 vertical feet of quad-numbing, fall line turns await skiers of all abilities. Located at the base is a 222-room luxury hotel, equipment rentals and restaurants that serve fine cuisine, plus local beers and wines. From there, the Revelstoke Gondola ascends to the mountain’s upper lifts, affording access to 5,000 acres of open slope, gladed tree runs, open bowls and acres of “slack-country” skiing. It’s no wonder why companies like Swatch, Red Bull and Helly Hansen have made Revelstoke Mountain Resort their resort of choice for profiling athletes such as Tatum Monod, Leah Evans and Kye Peterson. Gaining altitude isn’t just limited to ski lifts though. There are a number of heliskiing operators in the valley who will take you into pristine powder, including Canadian Mountain Holidays and Selkirk Tangiers Heliskiing. There are multiple operators in the area that offer multi-day and day Heliskiing services and will even pick you up from your doorstep.

Revelstoke is more than a resort, it’s a one-of-a-kind sanctuary. A destination. A home for the lucky few.
