For product Illustration we were to illustrate a product using either a stippling or crosshatching technique. The product chosen was a wooden drawing model and because of the smoothness of the product, stippling was the better technique to use in order to convey the texture. The overall product was created through perspective in order to give the drawing model life and character.

A walk through the forest was a psychological evaluation exercise that consisted of listening to an audio which told you step by step what to visualize. The imaginary trip was a walk through a forest which was created any way we desired. Through this walk we came across a key, a cup, a bear, a body of water, and a house. After drawing detailed sketches of everything we say as we walked through the forest, we were to determine which was the
most interesting part of the walk and create a fully rendered illustration of every detail that was created in our mind. For this illustration the discovery of the body of water; a stream was chosen. It was created through the use of imagination, watercolor, ink pen, and carbon pencil.

Matte painting consisted of creating an atmosphere for an action figure that we would then be placing into the actual painting and making it part of the atmosphere created. In this illustration the action figure selected is “The Rhino, a character from spiderman. The matte painting was created to compliment the character’s facial expression as well as his body position.
A diagonal horizon was given to the painting to create movement and tension. The final illustration was created through the use of water color, carbon pencil, and photoshop.

Student choice was an illustration inspired by one of the sketchbook exercises: “I see the light”. It consisted of drawing an object with different angles of light. Back lighting was chosen for this illustration to create extreme highlights and shadows on the subject.
A doll was chosen for this illustration because a children’s doll would not commonly be illustrated using this lighting. The use of light gives the doll a dark personality and the pose is what brings her alive. This illustration was created using watercolor, graphite pencil, carbon pencil, and charcoal white.
