QURE – CENTERVILLE, UTAH A sustainable solution to fill vacant retail space, this 8,000 -square foot boutique concept was repurposed as an anchor tenant and includes four customized studios under one roof. QURE of fers multisensor y indoor cycling, boxing, high-intensit y inter val training (HIIT), personal training, and Q -Kids, a fitness-based childcare program. Founded in 2007 by Barbara Chancey, the eponymous Texasbased Design Group is a globally recognized exper t in f itness architec ture and design. From turnkey boutique f itness star tups to hotels and health clubs, the group is set ting a new aesthetic benchmark in this ultra-niche space, of fering client s originalit y, exper tise, and at tention to detail. It is also the only international f irm to provide full range of ser vices from concept to grand opening. “Specializing in new and independent brands, we guide ever y step of the journey and of fer business plans, site selection, brand identity, operations, purchasing, employee training, and of course, architecture and design. Our approach to f itness design takes inspiration from real people – instructors, front desk greeters, maintenance crews, and most impor tantly, the members. Unlike other architect s, we teach classes and experience f itness f irst-hand to gain awareness skills that translate into meticulous detail.” Designed to per form, Barbara Chancey Design Group is bridging the gap between g yms and boutiques to create clubs that are as bold and vibrant as the people who train in them.

Audio ser vices include design, installation, training, and maintenance. “ We are the f irst and only to expor t entire studio content s to southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean.” Iconic design/concept in the f itness space “Entrepreneurs have been launching independent brands at a record pace in emerging f itness market s across the globe. From Singapore to Nigeria, the boutique f itness studio is disrupting the mainstream health club industr y.” Statistic s show that boutiques have grown 121% within the last 4 years, and 42% of all f itness memberships in 2018 came from boutique f itness studios, the highest membership recorded in histor y. Boutique studios accounted for about 21% ($22.4 billion) of the entire f itness club market according to Club-Intel Consulting.

FACING PAGE: SHINE X – BRUNEI Inspired by the architectural opulence of South-East A sia, sustainabilit y was a significant consideration in the design of Shine X, the first “bootcampinspired” fitness studio in Brunei. Reclaimed wood indigenous to the Bornean rainforest and laser-cut acoustic baf fles made from recycled materials are just a few of the eco-friendly features of this luxurious 2600 square foot fitness boutique commissioned by Her Royal Highness Princess ´A zemah Ni´matul Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar.

BELOW: TURN STUDIO – SANDY SPRINGS, GEORGIA Located in nor th Atlanta’s new $229 million ar ts-and-government complex, creating the brand identit y, and providing full architecture and design to complement the Per forming Ar ts Center which anchors the complex was a rewarding challenge. We selected sophisticated materials like walnut, glimmering metallics and blackened steel to provide a “wow” ef fect and a radical depar ture from traditional g yms in the area. The 4500 sq. f t. two level industrial-lux studio includes a soaring staircase leading to the mezzanine for cardio dance, group strength classes and yoga.
