Full payment for most programs is due at the time of registration. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa/MC/ AMEX/DISC). Make checks payable to the Carol Stream Park District. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.

Program Capacity

Garden Plots

All programs have minimum and maximum enrollments. If the minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to the program date, the Park District may have to cancel, postpone or consolidate the program with another program. If the program is cancelled, full credits will be issued.

Rent a raised or ground level garden plot in Slepicka Park and grow your own fruit and vegetables. Page 25.

The Carol Stream Park District Board of Commissioners consists of seven individuals who are elected by residents to represent the community’s best interests. The charge of the Board is to set policies that will guide the Park District. Board members serve a four-year term and receive no compensation for the time they give. They come from a variety of backgrounds and share one important trait - a commitment to serving the park and recreational needs of our community.

Regularly scheduled meetings of the Board are held on the second and/ or the fourth Monday of each month according to a schedule adopted by the Board yearly. Please check our website for our current meeting schedule. Regular Board Meetings begin at 7:00 pm.

Free supervised 10 week program of progressively increased running and decreased walking activity. Run/Walk from Dick Pond Athletics along the Great Western Trail in Carol Stream. Teach your dog how to maneuver the obstacles of an agility course! This class will make you and your dog a winning team using the power of the clicker and positive reinforcement. Dogs will be introduced to all of the agility equipment throughout the session. This course is for dogs one year and older. We cannot accept registrations over the phone. Please make sure we receive your registration form and payment by the indicated deadline otherwise your spot will not be guaranteed. Space is often limited, so complete your registration early!

The park district bus will be picking up at two Carol Stream locations only. Remember to write your pick-up on your registration form. If you wish to switch pick-ups after you have registered, please let us know at least one day in advance.

WDSRA provides a fun, safe environment for more than 4,500 children, teens, and adults to choose from over 1,500 programs, trips, and special events throughout the year. Programs everyone to participate at their own ability level. We offer a wide range of programs to reach a variety of interests, including: swim lessons, special Olympics, music, baseball, soccer, drama, art, bowling, trips, outings, social clubs, wheelchair and adapted sports and much more.

t c i r t s i D k r a P r u o Y The Carol Stream Park District parks and playgrounds are your parks – open for biking, hiking, running, walking, picnics, fishing, boating and more. With over 35 parks within the district you are never far from open space.

Fountain View Recreation Center

Carol Stream’s newest facility will be opening this fall. The new recreation center features a 25 yard indoor pool, warm water therapy pool, fitness center, sauna, walking track, kids zone, multi-purpose rooms and a gymnasium with three basketball courts. Dog Park Passes & Village Dog Licenses

Passes for the Carol Stream Bark Park, and Village of Carol Stream dog licenses, are available to purchase at Simkus Recreation Center. Proof of rabies vaccination must be shown to purchase a village license.

Memorial Trees

Purchase a living memorial tree for a loved one to be planted in one of our parks. Prices range from $155-$385, and 10 tree varieties are available. Call 630-784-6100 for details.

Recycling in Parks

Over 100 green recycling cans, marked with a recycling symbol, are available around park district parks and playgrounds. Please place recyclable paper, plastic, and glass in recycling cans, and place trash in garbage cans.

Just Play Party Wagon

Fishing

Catch and release fishing is encouraged in all park district waterways. State fishing regulations and licensing also apply. Ice fishing in any park district lake is strictly prohibited.

Wow the crowd at your next party or picnic with our Just Play Party Wagon! The fun-making trailer is stocked with 10 lightweight tables, 100 lightweight chairs, a 10’ by 10’ pop up canopy, a super-sized charcoal grill and bean bag games. We’ll even deliver it right to your door! The Party Wagon is available April -October. Cost is $99 per rental. For more information please call (630) 7846100, or reserve at Simkus Recreation Center

Boating

Room Rentals

Boating is only permitted in Armstrong Park, Mitchell Lake, Weeks Park, Evergreen Lakes and Heritage Lakes. No district permit needed. Boaters are responsible for the safe and proper operation of the watercraft. No homemade crafts or motor boats.

Rent a room at the Carol Stream Park District for your meetings, parties or community groups. Choose from a variety of meeting rooms for groups of 25-50 people. Call 630-784-6100 for more information.

Looking for a place to grow vegetables? Slepicka Homestead Park has sixteen ground-level plots and six raised garden beds available to rent. Slepicka Park is located at 1301 Lily Lane, Carol Stream. Call (630) 784-6100 for more information about reserving a plot or visit the Simkus Recreation Center to register for your plot today!

Picnic shelters are available for rental April through October. Information packets with locations, amenities and reservation guidelines are available from Simkus Recreation Center. All picnic shelters are open for free use unless they are reserved. Visit the front desk at Simkus to reserve a shelter. Picnic Shelters are available in: Slepicka Park; McCaslin Park; Red Hawk Park; Hampe Park and Bierman Park.

WAIVER REGISTRATION/BROCHURE WAIVER & RELEASE IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Carol Stream Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Carol Stream Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/guardians of minors registering for the above listed programs/activities must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities/programs. You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and/or skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity. WARNING OF RISK Recreational activities are intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather, slip and falls, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Carol Stream Park District to guarantee absolute safety. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating in the programs listed, you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor child/ward might sustain as a Result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with these programs (including transportation services and vehicle operations, when provided). I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in these programs, and I voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I may sustain as a result of said participation. Know Your Green Rebates

Full payment for most programs is due at the time of registration. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa/MC/ AMEX/DISC). Make checks payable to the Carol Stream Park District. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.

Program Capacity

Garden Plots

All programs have minimum and maximum enrollments. If the minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to the program date, the Park District may have to cancel, postpone or consolidate the program with another program. If the program is cancelled, full credits will be issued.

Rent a raised or ground level garden plot in Slepicka Park and grow your own fruit and vegetables. Page 25.
