SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE miller’s residence Taking Biomimicry and Biophilia as the driving concept of the Miller’s Residence, where our main goal was to integrate exterior and interior through breaking and shifting the existing house, as a representation of the segmented geography of San Diego. The shifting design strategy allowed us to generate some “in between” spaces that will bring more live into them, and they’ll be consider our new green “interior-exterior” connection.

VINOTHERAPHY SPA Chateau Lorraine
Our goal is to take people’s mind away from the busy life of NYC and give them a unique experience of relaxation. Walking through the spaces will be a “ritual”, a different journey for each client: from a Greenhouse Gate, to a unique retail space, sinking down to the thermal bath experience, moving up to the transforming Vinotherapy spa, and socializing in our garden view bar.

METROPOLIS HYBRIDS art core
The Cambridge former County Jail is no longer part of the new configuration of the city. The present needs of the society requires that this massive concrete building has to be changed as a response to the context, the surroundings and mostly as a response to the community. The dimension of this Adaptive Reuse project allows to remake an important point of attraction for the surrounding communities and public in general. Cambridge is the place where new technologies are developed, is home of the MIT, research centers and important technology developers. Taking what the site already has to offer and adding the Art component offered by the main Boston area, it generates a new Art Core, that could attract people no only from Cambridge but also from Boston.

BRIDAL SHOP
soft intervention Newport Congregational Church in Newport, Rhode Island adaptive reuse project and soft intervention to protect the landmark interiors created by the opalescent glass artist John LaFarge. The bridal shop proposal is inspired by the 1950’s boutique concept and its transformation from little hidden treasures to unique and spectacular places filled with architectural moments. A ‘soft intervention’ that brings new life to the space by introducing different layers of lighting (floor, nave, balcony) to highlight the pieces on display (acrylic boxes, floating dresses, hanging fabrics), bringing the attention back to LaFarge’s art which is the ultimate goal of this project : creating multiple experiences through the play of light and color.

INLIGHT IN HABIT INFLUX art installation Creating a pure white cloud that floats gently in the central nave of Newport Congregational Church. The installation of hundreds of yards of textile into the nave of the space at spans of 50 to 75 feet and elevations of 40 – 50 feet was an exciting challenge especially with only the aid of simple hand tools and equipment. Over one month, the group worked tirelessly in the church, surrounded by sewing machines, simple saws, drills and boundless energy. The installation have been adapted into other exhibits in Washinton DC and New York.

TOWNHOUSES Townhouses was a project created for Vivarini’s brothers and their families in a challenging location. Our goal was to generate two almost identical houses that could fit in the irregular shape of the terrain, keeping the privacy but also allowing some kind of interaction between them. The main concept was to introduce basic ortogonal shapes in contrast with the remaining green portion of the land, and also opening views from the social and private spaces to the enclosed green outdoor space.
