2307: WINTER’S DREAM (US, 103 min)
The year is 2307 A.D. The earth is frozen over and virtually uninhabitable. The manmade Chimeric Virus wiped out over 75% of the population. The remaining humans live underground, unable to survive the sub-arctic temperatures. With no “man power,” scientists bio-engineered Humanoids that possess great strength, speed, and tolerance to extreme cold. A rogue humanoid named ASH-393 escapes from captivity and threatens to lead a humanoid rebellion against mankind. Arizona Federation leader, General Trajan, sends an elite team of Spartan 7 soldiers to hunt down and terminate ASH.
THE BARN (US, 96 min)
It’s Halloween 1989 and best friends Sam and Josh are just trying to enjoy their last “Devil’s Night” before graduating high school. Trouble soon arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it’s up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within The Barn. Almost certainly destined for cult classic status, The Barn is a perfect retro throwback to classic 80s VHS horror flicks.
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU Committee’s Mixed Bag Shorts (Various Countries, 91 min)
Here’s a collection of amazing shorts that the Nevermore committee just could not live without…due to talk about blood on the floor. And although we couldn’t squeeze them into our traditional programs, we instead decided to showcase them in this program packed with more terror than Camp Crystal Lake on Friday the 13th. United States: In Pigskin, a high school cheerleader’s insecurities come to life and stalk her both mentally and physically. A text message turns a depressing laundry night into a mad dash for survival in Get the F K Outta Paris. While fishing at his neighborhood pond one morning in A Spot in the Sky, a man has a strange encounter with a UFO. Spain: Dreams die, but blood is eternal for Jules D. It Wasn’t Me is about a ten year-old boy with lots of problems gets a specialist nursemaid. Australia: Karl is a lonely zombie who’s stuck in the same monotonous routine of life, hoping that, one day, his wife will come in Wish You Here. Belgium: When Abdel accepts a night watchman job for Francis, he’ll soon discover the obscure secret of An Eldritch Place. Russian Federation: A woman encounters a mysterious and scary creature which lives in The Crossing.
CAPTURE KILL RELEASE (Canada, 95 min)
A found footage horror film that takes the form of a documentary by two aspiring killers who film each step in the process of preparing for their first victim. Jennifer and Farhang are a far-from-ordinary couple who are planning on killing a random person to experience what it feels like to take another life. The couple exhaustively researches and discusses in gory detail the entire process of capturing, killing, and disposing of a person. To avoid suspicion, the couple decides that they should not select a victim that either of them knows. As for choosing a target, Jennifer aptly says, “It’s like a buffet. It’s like pick your lobster out of the tank.” With their research complete and supplies in hand, the couple is ready to execute their plan. Do Jennifer and Fahrang have what it takes to commit murder? What happens next will change their lives forever.
Viewer Advisory: Contains graphic violent content and simulated animal torture.
THE DARK TAPES (US, 95 min)
A genre-defying mixture of horror, sci-fi, myth, mystery and thrills told as four interlocking tales in one intelligent, original anthology. Ghosts, spirits, creatures, demons and more from the paranormal world collide with rational curiosity. Could the supernatural exist in our everyday lives and have a plausible, scientific basis? The Dark Tapes explores this and more with surprising, sometimes shocking results that will leave you questioning what could be real.
FOUR MINUTES TO ARMAGEDDON Long-Form Narrative Shorts (Various Countries, 96 min)
This anthology of four longer-running shorts ranges from the whimsical and sweet, to subversively gory, peculiarly obsessive, then heads to way-beyond-over-the-top. You’ve never had this much fun being scared. Switzerland: Doug & Walter is about the bizarre road trip of two outsiders in the midst of the Swiss hills. Together, they hit the road and run from adventure to adventure—with fatal consequences. Netherlands: In Dark Machine, a lonely photographer awakens in the middle of the night by a phone call. A strange voice gives him a woman’s name, for no apparent reason. As if by chance, Viktor meets the woman the next evening. Fascinated by her, he discovers the truth will not be without its repercussions. Italy: Cain’s Shadow tells the tale of the disappearances of children during a 10 year period. The police are baffled, and parents are panic-stricken, believing a serial killer is on the loose. But on a cold night in November, everyone will make a bitter and shocking discovery. United States: The Invitation to Armageddon is a steampunk musical! In 1888, on a mission to save the world, The League of S.T.E.A.M. (a team of steampunk monster-hunters) take a roller coaster down into Hell to face off with The Devil.
GEHENNA – WHERE DEATH LIVES (US, 107 min)
A resort company dispatches key personnel to the remote and pristine Pacific Island of Saipan to search for locations for their company’s new luxury resort. They find curious natives and strange dolls and what they think is the perfect spot for the resort. But there is a cave on that perfect spot that turns out to be a hidden Japanese bunker from WW2. They enter, and soon find out that curiosity can kill. Each member of the team faces their most private secrets and inner demons. The secrets of the bunker itself become known and this results in a most shocking conclusion.
IT’S ONLY A NIGHTMARE, CHARLIE BROWN
PG-13 Animation and Dark Fantasy Shorts (Various Countries, 93 min)
Leave the kiddies at home for this wonderfully creepy ride from around the globe that includes some stop motion, claymation, hand drawings, and even some live action. United States: In Monsters!, Jenn lives in an underground bunker with her family, protected from the outside world. This is the day that she goes outside. Pearl is a fairy tale about an old lonely puppeteer, Sam, who saves a 9-year old wounded mermaid and helps care for her and love her as a father. France: In a remote village, a little girl befriends a pack of coyotes. But the villagers brutally put an end to this relationship, unaware of the revolution that awaits in Faded Finery. Australia: In Journey, an astronaut is lost in space. All alone, he wonders where he is and what he should do. Spain: In The Darkness Keeper, May is afraid of the dark, but she has a plan to catch it. She’s forgetting a small detail: when night falls, darkness is everywhere. In Tiny Creatures, a dramatic fight between tasty creatures is about to get messy. Switzerland: In Frail, Ruben is only allowed to play with his puppet, while his dad spends most of his time in his workshop. One day, he decides to find out what exactly his father is doing every day in the forbidden workshop. United Kingdom: Falling in Love is a black comedy revolving around suicide. Tired of his life, our hero tries to kill himself but keeps failing, until he meets the woman of his dreams.
THE LOVE WITCH (US, 120 min)
Elaine, a beautiful young witch, is determined to find a man to love her. In her gothic Victorian apartment she makes spells and potions, and then picks up men and seduces them. However her spells work too well, and she ends up with a string of hapless victims. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, her desperation to be loved will drive her to the brink of insanity and murder. With a visual style that pays tribute to Technicolor thrillers of the 1970s, The Love Witch explores female fantasy and the repercussions of pathological narcissism.
OCCUPANTS (US, 81 min)
Occupants is a film about Annie Curtis, an award-winning filmmaker and her husband Neil. Annie and Neil embark on a ‘30 Days of Clean Living’ documentary, setting up cameras all over their house to record, via the Internet, their new eating habits. By doing so, half of their cameras capture a parallel version of themselves—a version that ultimately unravels and threatens their very existence.
THE POWER (UK, 124 min)
A brutal and terrifying horror film about Satanism. Anthropologist Magda is kidnapped by Satanists and awakes in a cell. A young girl, Jess comes each day. She befriends the girl in the hope that she can help her escape. When this fails, she tries to convince the leader of the Cult that she has been converted.

These electrifying shorts celebrate an array of genre voices that span the globe. Horror, science-fiction, comedy, mystery, and melodrama collide in these amazing films that are sure to delight even the most-hardened genre palette. United Kingdom: Unexpectedly reunited with his daughter amongst the ruins of the world as they knew it, a father is determined to make this day special, even if they are already dead in A Father’s Day.
THEY’RE COMING TO GET YOU, BARBARA! North American Shorts (US/Canada, 93 min)
Great things often come in small packages, and short films have always been a large part of the Festival package. Nevermore 2017 brings the best North American short films to the big screen. In Satisfaction Guaranteed, Joanna’s life is all about making her home wonderful for her husband, Walter. But no matter how much she tries, Walter is still unsatisfied. There’s only one solution to solve their issues, and that’s getting rid of Walter. A metalhead gets passed down a satanic guitar that riffs to shreds in Death Metal. In The Call of Charlie, a couple sets up a blind date for two of their friends, one of whom is an ancient evil deity vibrating with pure malice. When five bumbling Satanists have their summoning ceremony go horribly right, they’re left to deal with the decidedly holy-shit consequences in Born Again. A romantic date night goes horribly wrong when a couple questions the validity of horror film plots in Vexed. Claire purchases a possessed Speak N’Spell that reignites fond memories from childhood and lays bare the sorry state of her current life in Spell Claire. When Susurrus Stirs is the tale of a man who finds purpose in his meaningless life when he becomes Host to an ancient creature. When her estranged, fishing-obsessed husband goes missing, Becky’s search leads her face to face with an unspeakable horror in The Fisherman’s Wife. A traumatized woman seeks penance and personal transformation through tattooing after surviving a devastating pregnancy in Ink.
THE VOID
(Canada, 91 min)

As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.
