Description For this project, the objective was to be able to work quickly and efficiently to create a solution to a problem that we were given by another person in a short interview. This was to help simulate what it is like to work with clients in a business setting as if we were designers for a firm and we were working to help them solve their own problem. This exercise made me think in a critical matter in a short amount of time to help the client with there problem.

When engaging with another person I was able to get a better understanding on what their opinion of the prototype was actually like as well as there reaction. To be honest I was not so sure how they would react at first when I presented the prototype to them. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see their reaction and how the approved of it. Even though there were some negatives to the prototype that they pointed out. I was quite glad that they did as well as, for there direct feedback I was than able to make notes on how I am able to improve the next prototype to get it exactly how they would like it.

Showing an unfinished piece to someone is something that I never have done and quite frankly hate doing. Which is something we had to do in the project to get a feeling of what the client wants. I do not like the feeling that I was unable to complete it to the potential that I know that it can get to when I have more time to put the work into a piece. Although, I can see the reasoning behind showing something to someone that is unfinished because, if they do not like how it is going or how it currently looks you can easily make changes to it in an unfinished stage versus a finished stage.

Dot line

55

Description For this project, we were instructed to use dots and lines with black and grey paper on a white background to convey a word of our choosing. This project allowed us to learn how to use The Principle of Gestalt, as well as, make us think out of the box and create an abstract piece of work of a basic word. It allowed me as designers to think in ways that you normally wouldn’t when given a task like this. It helped me think in minimalist ways to convey a thought as not all clients would want very detailed piece.

6

Dot line Gestalt is an interesting concept when one or more compositions work together to make a piece of artwork that is appealing to the eye were the more you look the more you notice about the piece. Gestalt is used without Dot and Line project because it is using different compositions such as negative and positive space, anomaly and similarity, and etc. Using these compositions allowed to create a piece that if we look into it longer and take our time to observe the piece than we are able to get what the artist is trying to show the viewer.

Making a “well-crafted object is quite hard and can get frustrating at time were you just kind of want to give up and half crap job on it and be content with what you turn in. However, me being me I prefer to have small detail in what I do, providing that I have plenty of time to do so, to show my best potential to whoever I am presenting my work to so they have an idea what they are exactly looking for and what they will be getting.

7

Abundance

I have always been a fan of different types of abstraction art. It has always been as strong interest of mine where it would be able think outside of a box with something very simple and expand on it however the artist wishes. Experiencing and creating abstract art first hand gives me a new appreciation for abstract

In reality it was kind of hard to illustrate the word we were given without trying to make it clear what they are but using cliques that are commonly seen with the word that we were given. It was however, easier to illustrate certain words over other words depending on what the idea concept of it was and what we could do with the word without making blatantly obvious.

Balance

Terror

You can pretty much use Gestalt in everything you do relating to your works as an artist. You can apply what you have learned through the theory to expand on your works, as well as, abstraction. Abstraction allows you to think outside of the box and to not follow the

Typography

99

Description For this project, we had to choose one word and create four different typographical fonts that would relate to the word in some way. This project allowed me as a designer to have a better understanding of typography in the design sense. As it is a growing technique within the design field were clients will want a word or logo to straight and simple to the point but also show what they are trying to convey the point they want to cross.

10 10

Typography Doing handlettering has taught me quite a bit about letter forms. I would have never had guess anything that I would have learned about fonts. I definitely did not know that letters had anatomy to it let alone how it fonts are actually categorized. Especially how certain fonts can describe and convey a specific words to the viewers and the meaning of the words. I wish I knew more about letter forms and lettering before taking this class.

11

12

Typography There are a lot of things I wish to work on to increase my skills in handlettering since I am horrible at hand writing in general. However, out of everything I wish to continue to work on black lettering since I enjoy how it conceptually looks and being able to get it down pat with no mistakes would be amazing and a personal achievement. What I would like to do next is a bit more difficult since I am not completely sure on what else I would be interested in doing other than being able to write in old Gothic like text.

13

To be quite honest I believe my ideas were stronger than my execution with them. I had a hard time actually being able to get my pieces on the paper and actually liking how it turned out from how I pictured it in my head. I definitely need to work and develop my skills on executing what I had planned for the project and even future projects were it can be quite a pain. However, I know it will turn up in the end if I work hard enough at what I want to get done and accomplished.

Object iteration

15 15

Description For this project, we had to choose either an animal or an object and create different forms of this animal/ object as if I were to show it to a client so that they would be able to see my work and know what they like. This allowed for me to create a various series of work where I could expand my skill in working on different forms to help not only my self but any client that I would work with as well.

16 16

Object iteration Through this project I learned the many different ways a persona can take a simple object or animal and create a whole different type of contacts with what they did with said animal or object and create something new. With my animal in specific which was the Grey Wolf, I learned how to make it look in many different lights from how they are perceived as by most people and actually help bring awareness to other about what they are like and what is actually happening to them.

Object iteration

The most challenging media I had was the collage and typography media’s. I just had a lot of issues being able to cut out the pieces to make what I wanted it to look like and how it looks. I have issues with cutting things out to but that is another story that I need to work on personally. However, the most enjoyable media I had was mimicking Banksy’s style of art with his stencil like format. I had fun with the whole thing and I look forward to doing more like it in the future with other projects in class and my own personal projects as well!

19

There is not much that I learned new with this project that I didn’t know before since a lot of it was the basics. I did though enhance a lot of my known skills that I already had with in photos hop. However, I did learn quite the deal of Illustrator since I had no prior knowledge to that before this class on how to use any of it functions. It would be hard to come up with different ideas on the spot however, through the year I would keep a close eye on the news feed and what is going on the world and use it to my advantages of helping bring awareness to those around me who would otherwise not think of or hear what is going on in the world about said things.

Data Viz

21 21

Description For this project, I was told to collect a hand full of data to than create it into a Data Viz graph of my own accord. This allowed me to understand what it is like to work with preexisting data and how to properly create pictures and graphs to help get a point across other than just using numbers. This helps me understand as a designer what it is like to work with clients who would give me just the information and work from there with it.

22 22

Data viz Creating visual hierarchy was not as hard as it seemed when I was working on my date viz. At the beginning I was unsure what to actually do to make the visual hierarchy flow smoothly throughout the whole piece. However after fiddling around I was able to make it happen as I had the images roughly the same size and I staggered them to create a pattern so that as you look at and read the piece you can see it flow easily with what you are reading and seeing in cohort. A big thing for me is still learning how to

23

Other things that I learned was from my critiques the I received during class about my project it made me see things in a different light and made me reconsider my thinking process as I consider how to work on a piece as if I was doing it for another person and where and what my limitations should be with what I put on a piece. Using color again was fun and enjoyable! I have always like using color in my pieces allows me

Even though with this piece it was limited choices of color that I had to use so I would not overwhelm the viewer with over use of colors and distract them from the main focus of my work. It still was not hard for me as I limit a lot of my color use with certain pieces of mine to show emphasis to certain part of it.

Stop Domestic Abuse

In 2017 alone about 18,000 women have been killed by their partner in domestic violence disputes. Which is about every single day in the U.S 3 women are killed by their partner.

Over half of the killings of U.S women are related to thier intimate partner. 72% of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner; 94% of the victims of these murder suicides are female.

In Wisconsin alone there were 73 death within the past year.

Women in the United States are far more likely to be murderd by their intimate partner than in any other With the presence of a gun in a domestic violence developed nation. situation increases the risk of homicide by 500%.

Silence IS Deadly

Intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime in the U.S. with over half of them leading to a death
