Barossa Valley The Barossa Valley wine region has more than 13,000 hectares under vine is located around 70km north-east of Adelaide in South Australia. Heavily settled by German Lutheran migrants back in the 1840’s, much of the regions success today relates back to the original plantings by some of these people more than 100 years ago.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

With a number of sixth generation growers now producing grapes, the Barossa Valley is home to some of the oldest vines in the world, with the earliest vines dating back to 1847. Currently there are more than 100 different producers that can be found in the region. When it comes to grape varieties the region is dominated by reds variants such as Shiraz, Cabernet or Grenache, but there is no doubt that Shiraz is the king of the Barossa. Renowned for their rich, full-bodied wines that are intensely coloured and flavoured, the Barossa Valley has helped launch Australian wine on to the world scene with wines such as Penfold’s Grange and Henshcke’s Hill of Grace.

BAROSSA VALLEY

The Haven Shiraz Sourced from the Barossa Valley region, this value for money Shiraz is jam packed with ripe fruit flavours of stewed cherries and blackberry conserve. With a tannin structure that is fine and restrained and a palate that offers good length, this wine is ready for immediate enjoyment. Try it with a grilled rib eye steak fresh off the barbeque.

Gramps Barossa Shiraz Over the last few years there has been a real changing in the guard in the Barossa Valley. Many of the more well known and traditional names have given way to the new younger breed of wines coming through. One of the oldest names associated with the region Gramps, has long been producing wines of great character and value. A wine that is truly undervalued, this full-bodied Shiraz reminds us that some traditions are worth holding on to.

Wolf Blass Gold Label Shiraz Over the last three vintages this wine has repeatedly won gold medal after gold medal in a number of major Australian wine shows. Selected from low yielding vines from the Barossa Valley, the fruit is matured in a combination of new and seasoned French oak casks. The result is a wonderful wine that is well structured and offers great complexity and length.
