EXAMPLE: Now home to satellite operations for Twitter, Uber and MTV— Downtown’s growing creative cluster was recently bolstered by a $15M investment from internationally renowned advertising firm Campbell Ewald. Campbell’s new space adjacent to Ford Field will occupy over 120,000 SF and employ 500+.
EXAMPLE: Henry Ford Health System recently announced a $1B strategic investment initiative on an adjacent 300-acre site. Fortune 500 firm and HFHS supplier, Cardinal Health is the first major tenant and has invested $30M towards a medical warehouse on the site.
EXAMPLE: The White House selected Detroit as the site of the U.S.’s first Manufacturing Innovation Institute. As a result, an abandoned warehouse in Corktown will receive a $148M investment from the U.S. Department of Defense. The 100,000 SF facility will be managed by a regional consortium including University of Michigan and Ohio State University. 70 manufacturing partners will also take part, including: Boeing, Alcoa and Honda North America.
EXAMPLE: Canadian Pacific is investing $400M to expand its 1.6 mile underground freight rail— linking Southwest Detroit and Windsor Ontario. With 400,000 train cars passing under the river annually, the new tunnel will accommodate new generation doublestacked containers, increase freight volume and ultimately lower freight cost—making Detroit a more competitive terminal point.
