Thank You! And you, and you... I am writing this from our home office in the Costa del Sol, Spain. It’s our 4th week here in “home isolation”, LOCKDOWN, and I must say we are doing ok so far, at the beginning the thought of home isolation was quite daunting but my wife and I have managed to stay quite busy, we are the lucky ones with an home office, so we could bring you this special online edition to you, able to offer all local small and large businesses free advertising, helping them not to be forgotten in the very difficult time. We are also lucky enough to have a lovely, funny happy dog, Jackson, that we get to take for walks every day. We are connecting with our family and friends so much more and feeling pretty blessed we are in lock down in beautiful Spain. Andalucía seems to be doing ok during the last 4 weeks, so, thank you to everybody for staying home, being careful, protecting yourself and protecting others.

...And one more thing... My wife and I volunteered to a charity organisation 3rd week into the lock down. We were inspired by seeing other friends on social media. It really feels good to help other people going through this war against the virus, and I am quite shocked by the big contrasts in the Marbella area, it’s quite a distanced from the Costa del Sols reputation as the playground for the rich and famous. Homeless people living on gravelled parking lots, families with children unable to feed themselves, single families not able to get out, and with no money for even the essentials. It feels good to help, and it opens your eyes from the La la -land we believe Marbella to be. But we have been blown away by the community coming together and our generous friends giving what they can, it’s been heart-warming.

Many businesses costs are fixed, e.g. rent, salaries, utilities, which may need to be financed in the short term, until business income recovers. Format of loans. They would be as follows: 1. ICO finance can be in the form of a fixed term loan, a credit policy (a variable loan facility), leasing for vehicles and other assets. 2. To manage cash flow during the Covid-19 crisis, many businesses will opt for a credit policy as the loan can be drawn down and repaid, as required by the day to day cash needs of the business. At the end of the credit policy period, typically one year, it can either be renewed or converted into a fixed term loan. Banks tend to prefer conversion into a fixed term loan. 3. Fixed term loan repayments can be between one and twenty years, with a capital repayment holiday of up to four years for long term loans. Repayments are typically monthly or quarterly. 4. Interest rates can be fixed or variable. Banks normally charge between 2% and 5% (according to the ico.es website) but Covid-19 loans are expected to have a maximum rate of 1,5% interest rate, including the bank’s opening commission. 5. The total loan limit for the ICO Covid-19 ‘linea’ is 1,5 million euros. Past experience shows that most ICO loans are below 25.000 euros but no minimum is mentioned by the regulations, leaving the banks to decide on this. Security. Given that the state is guaranteeing up to 80% of the bank’s loan to a business, the bank should not require security over assets, although they will usually

The Spanish state supports businesses via the Government financing agency, the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO). Recently, the tourism sector was struck hard by Thomas Cook ceasing business and the Government made available loan guarantee facilities enabling banks to offer favourable terms to their customers. On 26 March 2020, new ICO loans were published to cover all businesses generally affected by Covid-19. See below for our explanation of these ICO loans and their application. Nature of ICO loans. Purpose. Regarding the nature and purpose of these ICO loans, usually these loans can be for any business purpose. However, in relation to the Covid-19 crisis, the majority of loans will be needed to cover short term cash flow problems caused by a sharp drop in business income. 12

Any bank will consider granting a loan although, it makes sense to approach the bank that the business normally uses for its day to day business. Also required will be a description of the steps taken to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 crisis, e.g. temporal suspension of contracts of employment, negotiations with suppliers to defer payments including rents, negotiations with financiers to delay loan repayments, and finally, an analysis of how the business will cope if the crisis lasts many months. For companies, copies of recently filed tax declarations including the 2018 corporation tax (M200 filed in 2019) and the 2019 IVA (M390 filed in January 2020). Possibly also the 4 quarters IVA declarations for 2019 (M303). For the self-employed, all four quarters of the 2019 income tax declarations (M130) and the 2019 IVA (M390). Possibly also the 4 quarters IVA declarations (M303). Personal income tax declarations for 2018 of the owners/directors (M100). These will give the bank a view of the status of the owners of the business. The Covid-19 ICO loan facilities can be applied for up to 30 September 2020 but bear in mind that they will be granted on a first come, first served basis, so do not delaying in applying!

The Bugatti EB110, Veyron and Chiron1 are seen as milestones in automotive engineering from the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Bugatti enthusiasts and owners worldwide dream of having all three vehicles complete in their own collection as the “Holy Trinity of modern Bugatti”. BUGATTI EB110 SUPER SPORT At the beginning of the 1990s, Romano Artioli created the first super sports car of modern times with the EB110. EB are the initials of Ettore Bugatti, while 110 stands for his 110th birthday. At the presentation in Paris on 15 September 1991 – on Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday – Bugatti revealed a vehicle featuring sensational technology: the lightweight monocoque weighs just 125 kilograms, and is the first series-production car to be made of carbon. Aluminium and carbon, among other things, are used for the body, the wheels are cast from magnesium, and the bolts are made of titanium. The car is powered by a 3.5-litre V12 mid-engine with four turbochargers and a maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm. Sixty valves ensure fast gas exchange, while the four turbochargers operate with a boost pressure of between 1.05 and 1.2 bar and reduce the turbo lag to a minimum. BUGATTI VEYRON 16.4. SUPER SPORT With the market launch of the Veyron 16.4 in 2005, Bugatti presented a true pioneering achievement and made automotive history. The Veyron ushered in the new century and catapulted itself into a new

dimension. Once again, the French manufacturer opted for a carbon monocoque, all-wheel drive and four turbochargers. The first true hyper sports car in the world delivers 1,000 PS and has a top speed of over 400 km/h at 407 km/h. The completely newly developed 8.0-litre W16 engine initially has an output of 1,001 PS and a torque of 1,500 newton metres. This allows the Coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds; the Veyron reaches a speed of 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds. In 2010, Bugatti brought out an enhanced version of the Veyron with the Super Sport. The powerful drive now produces an astonishing 1,200 PS, and the governed top speed is 415 km/h. In the same year, Veyron 16.4 Super Sport set a new speed record for road vehicles: with a top speed of 431.072 km/h, it becomes the fastest series-production super sports car in the world. BUGATTI CHIRON The Chiron superseded the Veyron in 2016. With a maximum power of 1,500 PS, a value never before achieved by a series-production vehicle, tremendous torque of 1,600 newton metres and a host of technical innovations, the Chiron set new standards in automotive engineering in the 2010s. The Chiron sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.1 seconds and reaches the 300 km/h mark in 13.1 seconds. The maximum speed of this series-production vehicle for road use is limited at 420 km/h. One of them: the pictured Chiron from 2017 in “Grey Carbon” and “Terre d’or” light-coloured leather in combination with wheels painted in matt grey.

Humans have been on this earth for millions of years and throughout human evolution there were no infectious diseases: virus infections such as measles, small pox, influenza or even the common cold did not exist. COMMON VIRUS INFECTIONS This changed 10.000 years ago with domestication of wild animals. In other

All these diseases have killed millions of people around the world, but today we have managed to defeat and even eradicate some of them. However new infections still emerge, why? Based on above, the answer would be greater human wild animal contact but at the end of this article another version of this answer is presented. THE COVID19 INFECTION The pandemic of the COVID19 infection and information about infection and death rates, and disease contracting diminishing behavior are described extensively elsewhere, and not the topic of this article. In the following the natural history of the infection is des-

cribed and most importantly what can we do to prevent a serious COVID19 infection. THE COVID19 SYMPTONS The COVID-19 virus may progress through the body differently depending on the strength of the individual immune system, which may explain the wide variety and severity of symptoms. First the virus reaches the nose or back of the throat, causing common-coldlike symptoms, including congestion and sore throat. There are some reports that at this stage patients will lose their senses of smell and taste. Thereafter the virus moves to the lungs, possibly causing shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain. In some cases, it infects the bloodstream, where fever, nights sweats and fatigue result. In some cases, gastrointestinal symptoms also develop. In other words, some patients may only get symptoms localized to one organ system, whereas others might get different symptoms across several regions of the body depending on the strength of the immune system.

OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM Our immune system is indeed modifiable: we can increase the strength of it. Researchers have looked at serious respiratory infections like influenza and studied the relationship between various risk factors and influenza-related hospitalizations. Results demonstrate that risk factors such as hypertension, hyperglycemia, low grade inflammation, obesity, smoking, physical inactivity, lung disease and heart disease increase the risk, whereas high fruit and vegetable consumption decreases the rates of hospitalizations and deaths. The new manufacturing facility where Lotus will build the Evija all-electric hypercar is being readied for final prototype production. Series production and first customer deliveries of the all-electric two-seater will begin summer 2020. The hall is situated at the brand’s historic home of Hethel, in Norfolk, UK. The result is a versatile and inspiring workspace that will see Lotus hand-build up to 130 examples of the Evija. The first year’s production allocation is already designated to customers around the world. Work on the new Evija factory began in summer 2019. The interior has been fitted on three sides with gantries which frame the build stations. These have been designed and engineered to be sleek and unobtrusive, though robust enough to carry the necessary power, data and compressed air systems required to assemble the Evija. Highly collaborative in nature, the project has involved the co-ordination of 20 specialist contractors with more than 50 experts on site over the last six months.

The recently unveiled Porsche 911 Turbo S represents the most potent recipe in the current 992 generation line-up, and the largest leap forward in performance in the long history of the 911 Turbo. Here are the striking headline figures; 100km\h will be met in a ballistic 2.7 seconds and you’ll then push on to a maximum velocity of 330 km/h. Power output stands at an enormous 641bhp and 590lb ft of torque – a 60bhp increase over the previous generation’s S model. These superior figures come courtesy of a new-fangled 3.8-litre flat-six motor, derived from the base 992 Carrera and Carrera S models. And as you might expect, the only transmission available will be

Porsche’s hailed eight-speed PDK – but that’s certainly no bad thing in this type of application. The performance stats aren’t the only part of the new Turbo S that are larger than that of its predecessor. The front track sits approximately 1.8 inches wider, as is evident from the new bulging front arches that house trick adaptive aerodynamic parts and cooling ducts. These work in tandem with the larger rear wing – that gives a nod to the classic ‘whale tail’ in its downward position – to provide increased downforce at higher speeds. The marginally wider rear hips feature the signature twin air intakes that date back nearly 40 years, but weren’t made popular until the 993-gen cars of the late 1990s. As with the previous iteration of the 911 Turbo, you can expect PASM active dampers, Porsche’s

Dynamic Chassis Control active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel steering as standard. However, for the first time on a Turbo model car, staggered centre-lock wheels have become a nocost option. 20-inch wheels will help put power down through the front axle, while 21-inch rears wrapped in 315mm section rubber will take the brunt of the 590lbs ft of torque on tap. An enhanced version of Porsche’s Traction Management system is now in play; responsible for distributing power between all four driven wheels and is now capable of pushing up to 396lb ft of torque, or 62% of its total torque output, to the front wheels alone. With great power comes the need for great brakes, and the new Turbo S is set to deliver – now anchored by enormous 10-piston callipers and 420mm carbon-ceramic discs up front.

The property consists of three storeys and a basement. Once we had the main distribution and layout right, we began with the interior design of the various spaces. Our client’s request was to achieve an elegant yet masculine interior reminiscent of a James Bond mood setting, and furthermore maintain the spaces light and fresh to keep it contemporary. In the basement we designed a bar area that looks out into the garage where cars will be showcased. Also, in the basement a gym and a boardroom have been carefully designed so that each space can live in harmony with the other, always mindful of privacy, practicality and design. Each of these spaces was designed by Ambience and installed by our carpenters. We designed French wall panels in some of the rooms to define that look and used other materials such as Calacatta Gold Marble, Black Marquina marble, aged brass, etc. to contrast. A beautiful fish-bone floor was our choice throughout. The ground floor TV lounge used to have a dark feel to it and the team changed this by placing a long light sofa flanked by two beautiful carved armchairs. Touches of lovely green tones can be found on the chesterfield pouffe, coffee tables and cushions, leaving the fireplace with integrated storage to be the focal point in the room. On the first floor we have a small reception area with a loveseat opposite the fireplace also designed by Ambience, where a stunning black piano contrasts beautifully against the light oak fish-bone wooden floor. The upstairs lounge is more of a formal smaller seating area, with two Chesterfield Desiree sofas lending a welcoming yet modern look to the space.



The master bedroom has its own terrace which we kept stylish and subdued while the en-suite bathroom is vibrant with its dark walls. The bathtub area frames the sea view beautifully and sits on an elegant black Marquina marble slab that continues its way on to the floor. We chose rose gold taps to contrast with the stunning mosaic tiles selected. We were very happy to see our client’s reaction when he saw the conversion of his villa; it also space shows that even the most dark and gloomy properties can be turned into a beautiful home. The satisfaction of clearing out, de-cluttering, re-arranging our homes is a gift we can give ourselves. I am sure many of us are taking these days to try and get on top of all that we don’t usually bother to do - or even have time to do. It’s a great opportunity for us to give us breathing space in terms of actually physically more agreeable homes where we can live and cherish life – now as well as after the particular situation we are going through at the moment. From a property market point of view – from any markets point of view – I am quite certain that once we are able to slowly go back to “normality” in society – there will be a new normal. The old normal - at least exactly as it was – I dare say will not be around anymore. This can prove tough and painful both on the private side as well as on the

business and finance side of things. We will have been through a stressful time with lots of uncertainty. We will be coloured by that. I’m sure that for must of us our home is our castle – not the least when things are tough. So, as we are confined to our castles let’s give them extra amounts of love during these days. It will make both ourselves and our homes feel better. Once more of a normality starts we will be best prepared and ready to go out and find our new life -surely with both challenges and opportunities. And whoever was thinking of selling their property will have a house set to show from its best side to potential buyers – as it will be up-to-date de-cluttered and stylishly organised – the perfect home to sell. So, now, look around you and view your home as if you were a first time visitor. What do you see? Try 5 minutes to start with! 120 years ago, the name of an eleven-year-old girl became the epitome of cars and the first luxury car brand in the world. On April 2, 1900, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft decided to call its automobiles Mercédès, after the daughter of Emil Jellinek. The Austrian businessman, who lived in Nice, traded in Daimler vehicles and registered them for racing events. The first vehicle with this melodious Spanish name – the Mercedes 35 PS – caused a sensation at the Nice race week as early as March 1901. This was not only because of its highly advanced technology – allowing it to win several races there – but also because of its exceptionally elegant design. The Mercedes 35 hp is regarded as the prototype of the modern automobile and, with its progressive vehicle architecture, has become a model for the entire automobile industry. Paul Meyan, then Secretary General of the Automobile Club of France, said after the race week: “We have entered the Mercedes era.” From then on, the curved “Mercédès” lettering adorned the radiators of Daimler passenger cars. The name was registered as a trademark on June 23, 1902 and legally protected on September 26, 1902. Since then, the brand name – which was changed to Mercedes-Benz after the merger of the Daimler and Benz companies in June 1926 – has been both an expression of and a commitment to luxury and innovation. Like no other automotive company, Mercedes-Benz knows how to combine beauty and elegance with performance and technology. We recently caught up with six times Mr. Olympia champion, Dorian Yates, to have a chat about the man behind the muscle… So, tell us, who is Dorian Yates? “That´s an ever-evolving answer. I think I´m somewhat of an enigma to many people because there are a lot of different aspects to Dorian Yates. Obviously, first is my background. I won six Mr. Olympia´s which is the premier professional bodybuilding title in the World; it´s universally accepted to be ‘The One’. You have to win a regional contest, then the national championship, which in my case was the British one, then you can get a professional status to compete professionally. Then you have to place within the top three of one of those shows in order to enter into the Mr. Olympia. So, when you get to Mr. Olympia you are with the 25 best bodybuilders in the World. It´s an American dominated sport but I am the only one who has won the title whilst living outside of the USA.” Was there anyone in particular who inspired you? “The first person who caught my eye when I was younger was Bruce Lee. He had a great physique, not like a bodybuilder though, he was very lean. So, I started from there, doing press ups, squats etc. in my room. But I didn´t start seriously until quite late due to life´s circumstances. I left home when I was sixteen and didn´t have anywhere permanent to live. (continues)

I was in a youth jail when I was eighteen for a few months, just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time really. It was a very strict regime in there. They wanted to instill some discipline so that we would never want to do wrong again, basically.”

my table’, so I used that as energy. Plus, I wanted to create a legacy of not just winning, but of pushing the boundaries. I was called the Game Changer of body building.”

And did it work?

“Some were, others weren´t. I had a couple of years with serious injuries and they were really difficult. I tore my biceps in 1994 six weeks before the competition which probably should have put me out, but didn´t. And three weeks before the competition in 1997 I tore a triceps tendon which was severe. I managed to work round it. I was maybe at 90 per cent, but I was still good enough to beat the other guys. After that I knew there was no point in competing as I could never be as good as I was, not after that injury. The reality of retiring hit me later on. I had no role in life anymore. Before, I had had an all-consuming mission that all my energy went into, and then it was gone. It´s very hard to deal with. I think a lot of sports people really struggle with that.”

“Well, it did for me. I don´t know about everyone else.” He laughs and goes on. “We did gym work there and I was better than everyone else. I was treated differently by everyone, even the prison officers, because I had this work ethic and discipline that I put into the training. They encouraged me to do something with it when I got out. So, when I came out it took me a bit of time to get a job and an apartment and I decided then that I was going to do bodybuilding and compete. It would have been easy to have got into more bad groups and carried on like that, but I was always a bit different to everyone around me and knew I was going to do something.” The first Mr. Olympia title that you won in 1992…. How surprised were you to win it? “On my first attempt at Mr. Olympia I got a close second and that was the first time anyone had done that, so I knew I had the potential to win it. The guy who beat me the first time was an eight times champion and he retired after that. So, the following year the title was open and I was the favourite. After winning the second one I was then unbeatable for a long time.” Seven years, in fact. 1992 to 1997! It must have taken immense mental strength, as well as the physical aspect, to maintain that level. “It´s really like an obsession. I started by thinking how much I wanted to beat the others, thinking everything was against me and I couldn´t do it as I wasn´t from America… I used that as energy. And then when I won it I thought ´these guys want to take it away from me, they want to take from my family, take food off 112 CARS2BUY ISSUE 006 COSTA DEL SOL

And did each year become harder?

Who nicknamed you The Shadow? “That was given to me by a journalist, Peter McGough, who was an Editor of a small bodybuilder magazine in the UK. At the time of my first contest there were already rumours of a kid from Birmingham that had been training for a year or so, and who was going to compete. I was quite taken aback by all the attention. Peter did the first interview with me and named me The Shadow as I was unlike anyone else in the profession in that I didn´t want to be noticed. I just wanted to be in the gym, covered up, and only present my physique at a contest. I was an enigma as I would show up, win the contest, and disappear, like a shadow!” After you finished competing, then what? “Well I went into a period of personal crisis. I went through a divorce, quite severe depression because I didn´t really

know who I was outside of my profession. I had a lack of direction and identity. I had had so many years of self-discipline and restriction that I then spent time partying and drinking. So, I went through that whole scene for a while which I don´t really regret. I actually don´t regret anything in my life. I think everything is an opportunity.” You have a supplement company, DY Nutrition. “Yes, DY Nutrition is going well and has been re-launched in the last two years. We have a big management and investment team and are rapidly growing. Check out the website dynutrition.com.” So, what about your diet now? “It´s totally different as my lifestyle is different. What I need now is mobility, flexibility, cardiovascular health. I´m bordering on being vegetarian. There are different diets for different goals so what might be the best diet for building muscle might not be the best for your health or for longevity. I believe that if you eat 90 per cent of your food from whole food, plant sources, that´s probably the best diet you can get. “ Tell us about your wife. “My wife, Gal, yes well it´s quite a romantic story of how we met. I met her through a Brazilian friend of mine. He came to live in Birmingham in the 80’s and was training in my gym. He was a professor of exercise. He returned to Brazil, and was on the beach one day when he saw this woman with an amazing physique. He asked her what fitness competitions she had done but she had only done dance, ballet and aerobic competitions. He asked if he could train her, as he believed she could become a World Champion within a year. So, she trained, and within a year she was a Brazilian, South American and World Champion. She didn´t have a boyfriend, and though he tried his luck, he didn´t get anywhere,” he says laughing, “then he introduced her to me at a seminar I went to do in Brazil, and

that´s where it all started. She moved to England and we got married in 2010.” And your son, Lewis, does bodybuilding? “Yes, he trains, and is going to be working for the company now. He has followed in my footsteps a little bit. He coaches people also. He grew up with it, though he doesn´t have the competitive side which maybe is good.” So, what about cars? Do you have an interest in cars? “I like nice cars and have had a few over the years. I had a BMW seven series in 1991 and I had it customized. I had so much done to it that people used to stop me on the street and ask me what it was. I also had a Mercedes. I had an Aston Martin DB9 when I went through my playboy, James Bond, phase, until I met Gal, and she said ‘What´s this stupid little car? I can´t get any shopping in there.’ And I said ‘It´s a work of art! You´re supposed to be impressed by this. It´s hand built in England. Look at the leather.’ And she said ‘It´s too small.’ So, I had to get a Range Rover.” He shrugs his shoulders and laughs, “So, yes I do like cars, but they are not a super passion of mine.” And what do you do to relax? “I like reading a lot. I do yoga a couple of times a week. I meditate. I´ve been doing that for probably four or five years now. I have been used to focusing in the gym, mentally making my surroundings disappear which was a form of meditation.” How long have you been in Marbella and what do you think of it? “I just love Marbella. I walk on the beach with my dog.” Dorian has a French Bulldog and is a dog lover. He does a lot of work with and is an Ambassador for the animal shelter Triple A. “We walk in the mountains. There is so much here. I didn´t know that when I first came here as I was still in my party phase, so I stayed in the Port and

at Olivia´s. There´s tons of stuff here… mountains, lakes, waterfalls. Another thing I like is biking, so I am always off up to Istán on my mountain bike. I wouldn’t be anywhere else. It´s not a big town but everything you need is here. Restaurants and night clubs are great. I can be on the beach and then in the mountains within half an hour. You can get to anywhere in Europe within three or four hours. The weather is probably the best in Europe. The atmosphere is relaxed. Here I believe it is such a healthy environment.” I believe you have made a film recently? “Yes, this is the second documentary. We did one a couple of years ago called ‘Inside The Shadow’ but this is a new one and it’s really my life story. It´s been filmed in England, Spain and in Costa Rica, which is where I do my Ayhuasca retreat. This is psychedelic plant medicine that people drink and you go on a journey. It’s very therapeutic and has huge spiritual and psychological benefits. It helps you to see a much bigger picture of the world and of reality. It´s hard to describe, but everyone that I know who has done it says that it is the best thing they have ever done. I first tried it about seven years ago, and then I spoke about it on some Podcasts that I did. The film is called The Original Mass Master and it is my life story. It´s been a best-selling sports documentary of itunes and Google. The body building career has given me a big following, and I have been speaking on Podcasts for the last year or so and it has had a huge impact . I did one with Joe Rogan (American martial artist, podcaster, sports commentator and comedian), and it had over 2.5 million views.” You appear to have quite a spiritual side. Do you consider yourself to be a spiritual person?

with our thoughts we can change our own personal vibration like turning the dial on a radio. We can turn the dial with our own practices and thoughts. Meditation slows down your thoughts so you can recognize the negative thoughts and stop them before they grow. I believe everything that happens in our life is a projection of us.” Do you have a philosophy you live by? “I try to have a positive effect on myself. The whole world we live in is a collection of our projective energies I believe, so I can’t change other peoples’ energies, but I can change mine, and then I may have an effect on you. If we all try to improve ourselves then the world that we live in will be different. This stylish special edition of the ACH130 helicopter comes equipped with a range of four interior and exterior designs generated by Aston Martin which will delight helicopter owners and pilots who appreciate the pleasures of possessing and driving high performance bespoke luxury cars. The aeronautical designers at Airbus Corporate Helicopters (ACH) and the automotive designers at Aston Martin have worked closely together for over a year, marrying ACH’s key values of excellence, quality and service with Aston Martin’s commitment to beauty, handcrafting and automotive art to bring a new level of aesthetics and rigorous attention to detail to the helicopter market. Lightyear, a pioneer in clean mobility, introduced the first long-range solar car today. The prototype was presented to a select audience of investors, customers, partners and press at the break of dawn in the TheaterHangaar in Katwijk, the Netherlands. “This moment represents a new era of driving,” said Lex Hoefsloot, CEO and co-founder of Lightyear. “Two years of dreaming, thinking and working hard have led to this milestone, which is a giant leap towards achieving our mission of making clean mobility available to everyone.” Lightyear was founded in 2016 by alumni of Solar Team Eindhoven, which won the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Since the launch, Lightyear has received several awards, grants and support from key investors. “This allowed us to develop a working prototype for the first longrange solar car in just two years. We have already sold over a hundred vehicles. With Lightyear One, we want to show that our technology enabled us to build one of the most sustainable cars on the market that also offers great convenience.” Lightyear One has been engineered coming from a radically different perspective. Hoefsloot: “We all have a performance background and with that we focus relentlessly on to optimize efficiency and safety”. Lightyear started from scratch, following not convention but only the laws of physics, to purposefully design a car that “gets the most out of every ray of sunshine”. Hoefsloot continued, “The main goal of the car is to fill in where electric cars fall short. Research has shown that range and the lack of charging options are still the top concerns that people have when considering electric cars.”

There are tons of articles selling people what they want to hear, promising you the body of your dreams in few weeks (usually 3weeks-1month). We all know that in most of the cases that doesn’t work because everybody has a different metabolism and differing levels of activities. There is no unique diet that works for everyone because each individual needs a specific number of calories and specific nutrients to maintain, lose fat or gain muscle and in order to help with that I offer online coaching services, tailored to individual needs. So if its not short-term dieting let’s think about lifestyle change. What do you do after you achieve your goal? In most of the cases people tend to revert to their usual routine after they followed a short-term diet. When that happens, people get back into their old routine with cravings, eating much more than they used to because they’ve 146 CARS2BUY ISSUE 006 COSTA DEL SOL

been restricted and this creates the yo-yo effect.

TRAINING

Yo-yo dieting or yo-yo effect, also known as weight cycling, is a term coined by Kelly D. Brownell in refTRAINING erence to the cyclical loss and gain of weight, resembling the up-down motion of a yo-yo. In this process, the dieter is initially successful in the pursuit of weight loss but is unsuccessful in maintaining the loss long-term and begins to gain the weight back. The dieter then seeks to lose the regained weight, and the cycle begins again. My advice in this case is to keep the same diet but increase the calories gradually (especially from carbohydrates) and make it a lifestyle. For an all year-round good-looking body, you need to make new habits and/ or forget some of the old habits. For example, some of the foods you used to have should never be back in your diet under any circumstances but some of them like bread or beer can still be part of your lifestyle even if this sounds crazy. People blame the bread and/or the beer for gaining fat. It’s true to some degree, but it’s not only that, because people don’t eat only bread or drink only beer. But these are very common examples, and it is easy to attribute blame to them. Instead of having 6 beers a day, drink only one and that’s fine if it is “assumed” and by assumed, I mean making part of your diet plan. Same for bread. For me it is a good source of carbohydrates, low in fat. If used wisely

you can look good and still have it as part of your diet, of course, if you’re not gluten intolerant. I will now give you some examples of foods you should include as source of carbohydrate, protein and fats and also some nutritional tips. Carbohydrates: oats, rice, brown bread if you don’t have gluten intolerance, fruits in moderate measure, potatoes of any kind, brown pasta, quinoa. Protein: chicken breast, turkey breast, lean beef, fish (pay attention to the fat content and be sure you count it in your daily macros), whole eggs, egg whites, whey isolate protein powder. Fats: olive oil extra virgin, coconut oil, nuts, almonds, macadamia oil and nuts, etc, avocado, salmon (as well as a source of protein). Feel free to eat any kind and number of veggies you want. Preferably to have meals with carbs and protein in the first part of the day and meals with protein and fats for the last part of the day, even so, the carb-protein meals could have small amounts of fat like 5g olive oil. Avoid at all cost’s dairy products! Another important thing that has a big impact on your life quality is hormonal levels and I will talk about it next time!

Susan Lang—often identified only as Mrs. John Lang—entered motorcycling as a sidecar passenger in the early 1900s. Reflecting on those early days of roving the Scottish countryside alongside her husband she wrote: “To be with him, even if an exhaust valve broke or the engine had to be pulled to pieces on the road, was a delight so long as I could help him put it together again.” Sidecar riding was no passive activity for this woman who would soon be dubbed “the most accomplished motorcycle mechanic of her sex in the country.” The Langs immigrated to the United States in 1911, and in 1913 they opened a Harley-Davidson dealership in Waterbury, Connecticut. Susan started riding on her own in 1914, in part to accomplish local errands such as getting packages to and from the dealership. Soon she had learned to overhaul her own engine and was assisting her husband with both the dealership’s shop and sales. Susan credited the electrically equipped 1915 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with getting her out on longer trips. Just a year after learning to ride, Susan put the kids in the sidecar and made a New England record for long distance motorcycle trip by a woman unaccompanied by a man, covering 500 miles in two weeks. She reported that suffragette jokes were common after locals found

out her husband had not gone for help, as they typically assumed, but that she was the ‘the man’ of the party. Also on the tour, she amused and impressed the Harley-Davidson New England branch when she earned the distinction of being the first woman to visit the Boston affiliate alone. Two years later, Susan again entertained the New England Harley-Davidson group when she drove to the district convention—with her husband in the sidecar. Both Susan and her husband loved riding, and it was important to them to instill that spirit in their four children. They accomplished this by balancing their family and professional commitments. When she would venture off with the kids in the sidecar, John would run the dealership. When he would take a kiddo or two out on his own, Susan tended the customers. That enthusiasm was infectious. In 1922, Susan and John acquired a Harley-Davidson dealership in Providence, RI and their son William took over the Waterbury store. The impact of Susan and John’s passion is also evident in this photo of Waterbury riders visiting the pair in Providence. “There seems to be a friendly feeling among motorcyclists which is hard to find in other trades,” Susan said.
