Paine College Golf Tournament

Page 1

Dear Potential Sponsor: It is with great pride that I express to you the success of the Inaugural Paine College Golf Tournament held in August of 2009. The overwhelming support from last year’s tournament makes me even more excited to be a part of the 2nd Annual Paine College Golf Tournament, which will be held on August 30, 2010 at Jones Creek Golf Club in Evans, Georgia. As a supporter of Paine College I am familiar with its mission, stand behind its vision and live by the College’s core values. My interaction with the tournament committee and the Paine Men’s Golf Team has further strengthened my love for this cause. All of the proceeds raised at the Golf Tournament are donated to the College to provide scholarships and program support. The Paine Men’s Golf Team is on the rise. The team recently placed 2nd in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Tournament. Your support helps encourage the team to strive for excellence on and off the course. This is a great opportunity for you or your company to receive exposure and help to support a worthy cause. As a participating sponsor you will receive various benefits outlined in this guide, which will greatly benefit this wonderful golf program. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you soon. Please mail your commitment form promptly or register online at www.paine.edu/golf. Ms. Frances Wimberly will contact you to respond to any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact her at (706) 821-8233 or via email at Fwimberly@paine.edu.

I look forward to seeing you on the course. Sincerely,

Jim Dent Honorary Chair

PAINE COLLEGE aine College was founded in 1882 as the result of an unusual collaboration between Black and White Methodists who believed in church-related education as a means of advancement for a newly freed and underserved people. Leaders, Bishop Lucius Holsey of the Colored (now Christian) Methodist Episcopal Church and Atticus Haygood, a Bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church South (now United Methodist) worked to establish The Paine Institute to train preachers and teachers to educate the newly freed men and women. In January 1884, classes began in rented quarters at 10th and Broad Streets in Augusta, Georgia. In 1903 Paine Institute was re-charted as the Paine College.
