Since 1970 CARTES has been producing labels machines. Our facility, is located in a 6,000 sqm area in Moglia near Mantova, where a skilled and professional team works.
CARTES first has developed and commercialized the LASER technology applied to self-adhesive label converting.
CARTES has affirmed its success in 88 countries where more than 4,000 machines are installed and recognized for their quality, mechanical strength, precision and high production speed. We constantly aim to find innovative technical solutions for the reels label market.
Today, after 14 years, and over 200 LASER machines installed in 42 different Countries, the CARTES LASER technology represents a confirmed success worldwide, not only for the level achieved, but also because the Laser converting unit can be combined with hot stamping, silk screen printing, flexo printing & varnishing, flat bed die-cutting, semi-rotary die-cutting & embossing.

PROCESSING
All-in-one custom-made machines configurable with silk screen printing, hot stamping, flat and LASER die-cutting units suitable to produce a wide range of luxurious labels ensuring the minimum waste of material and time during the preparation of a new job. The HS220 series machines can work in line with other machines or off-line thanks to the integration of unwinder, rewinder and matrix remover and are conceived to obtain the maximum productivity thanks to the application of the most advanced electronic and informatics technologies. The innovative software allows the units to automatically correct the gap irregularities detected on the pre-printed materials. Furthermore, their mechanical strength and precision guarantee the complete absence of bending or gaps even during the most complex and elaborate jobs.

CONFIGURATION SILK SCREEN PRINTING
This unit can print, emboss with Braille effect and make spot varnishing. The spatula moves transversely with respect to the frame to maximize the printing area and keep a constant smearing of the ink all over the web. The curing is made by powerful UV dryer at the output. It is possible to accurately adjust the step according to the actual printing size, reaching an extremely high speed. Once the screen is placed on the printing head, it is always possible to adjust its position with no need to remove and this markedly reduces the setting times.
HOT STAMPING
This unit can print, emboss and apply security holograms. The foil can be feeded transversally or longitudinally, according to the printing sense for a minimum waste of material. By the touch screen control panel the operator can adjust up to ten different foil steps on the same job to reduce the waste of foil. The hot stamping unit applies a very high pressure thanks to the movement operated by the double knee-joint system. The holder for the cliché can be tipped up allowing the operator to place and remove the cliché directly on the machine. It can be adjusted in transversal and longitudinal sense and it can even pivot to get the most accurate position.
TOUCH-SCREEN CONTROL PANEL
From the touch-screen control panel it is possible to precisely adjust, on each unit, all the settings and working parameters such as material and foil step, speed, printing contact time, temperature of each head…
SLIDING UNITS
The printing and die-cutting units (with the exception of the Laser) can slide sideways by means of a hand-wheel to be precisely positioned and ease the preparation of the jobs.
WEB TENSIONING
The web tensioning is electronically controlled by a vacuum system at the input and a servo motor guarantees the most accurate precision of the pulling.
OVERPRINTING PRECISION
The Label Positioning System (LPS) corrects with centesimal precision the misprinting errors detected on the pre-printed materials.
ADVANCED PHOTOCELLS
The HS 220 machines are equipped with high sensitivity photocells that can read on every kind of material, even clear-on-clear, and with micro switches that stop the machine when the materials end.
FLAT DIE-CUTTING
This unit can die-cut and emboss. It is equipped with four centesimal gauges placed on the pressure micrometrical screws to control the deepness of the cut. It applies a very high pressure thanks to the movement operated by the double knee-joint system. LASER CONVERTING
The sealed CO2 100 Watt Laser source unit can fulfill many kinds of work such as die-cutting any kind of shape, perforating, microperforating, engraving, numbering, cutting and kiss-cutting. The cutting patterns can be digitally drawn with any vector based software then loaded and saved into the computer of the machine with all the working parameters and settings, for a fast reuse.

The technologies applied to the GT SERIES machines make them the best option on the market, not only for the finishing, but also for fulfilling complete high value labels with the maximum economy. CARTES has actually developed a unique and innovative technology that allows to obtain the best results in terms of accuracy and productivity, both for short and long runs. In addition to the strength, the quality of the materials and the high precision at every speed, the GT Series offers to label market new and exclusive features such as:
AUTOMATIC CENTERING DEVICES
These machines are even more precise thanks to the new automatic Multi Head Positioning System (MHPS) that corrects, concurrently on each printing unit, the possible gap irregularities detected on pre-printed materials. Each printing and die-cutting unit is automatically positioned to ensure a perfect centering and minimizing the waste of material. This also reduces the time required for the initial settings and increases the working speed.
ENERGY SAVING TECHNOLOGY
Through the use of the IGBT technology and the centralized management system of drives power supply, that allows the sharing of energy between the motors during the operation of the machine. The energy released by the motors during the braking phase, is reused or even returned to the power grid. It follows an energy saving from 30 to 40%.
MORE SAFETY FOR THE OPERATOR
Thanks to the implementation of the security systems STO (Safe Torque Off), SS1 (Safe Stop), SBC (Safe Brake Control) and SLS (Safely Limited Speed), it is possible to obtain an effective protection of the operator, combining the safety to the practical needs required by the production.

Each unit is equipped with a touch screen control panel in order to ease the setting and regulation of all the parameters.

GT Series - Features of the units HOT STAMPING
The hot stamping unit can print and emboss (even simultaneously), as well as apply holograms, overlaminate and die-cut. Thanks to an innovative system that manages the dynamism of the printing cycle, no matter the speed is, both during the start-up or the production, the unit keeps a constant contact time between the cliché and the material. This always assures the best transfer of the foil and minimizes the setting time and the quantity of material needed to start a new job. The hot stamping unit can feature up to 3 foil feeding systems (two in transversal and one in longitudinal direction) with multistep regulation to avoid foil wastening.
SILK SCREEN PRINTING
The silk screen printing perfectly matches with the need of fulfilling intense coverages, accurate result in details and rich colours, to obtain highly brilliant and valuable products. It is also possible to process embossing with Braille effect and spot varnishing. This unit is supplied with a powerful UV dryer with Stepless electronic management of the lamps that allows to flexibly adjust the power from 24 to 200 W/cm, achieving the minimum consumption in stand-by mode. The automatic ink feeding system allows to keep a constant spread during the printing and also markedly reduces the intervention of the operator.

GT Series - Features of the units FLEXO VARNISHING
The new CARTES semi-rotary flexo printing & varnishing unit with gearless system is completely controlled by servo motors and equipped with devices that facilitate operator’s work. The application and replacement of the flexible clichÊ can be done in a few seconds thanks to the opening on the top that allows the operator an ease access to the cylinder. All data processing and parameters are visible in real time on the display and can be saved into the computer of the machine to be quickly reused. IMAGE DISTORTION SYSTEM (IDS) This software makes possible to automatically adapt the polymer plates created for cylinders of different development. Moreover, the software can narrow up to 20% and maximum 5 printing paths keeping constant the interspaced between them. MULTI HEAD POSITIONING SYSTEM (MHPS) As all the units of the GT series, the flexo varnishing unit is also equipped with the automatic positioning system that corrects any gap irregularities detected on pre-printed materials: the software instructs the units to move along the guides and automatically position in order to reduce the waste of time and material, other then considerably increasing the working speed.

GT Series - Features of the units SEMI-ROTATY DIE-CUTTING UNIT
The new CARTES semi-rotary die-cutting unit with gearless system is completely controlled by servo motors and equipped with devices that ease the operator’s work. The application and replacement of the flexible die can be done in a few seconds thanks to the opening top cover that allowing the operator an easily access to the cylinder. All data processing and parameters are visible in real time on the display and can be saved into the computer of the machine to be quickly reused. AIR GAP SYSTEM (AGS) The innovative AIR GAP SYSTEM electronically manages the inclination of the anvil cylinder, adjusting the distance between the die and the material and controlling the cutting depth with extremely accuracy. Just setting up the die thickness from 0,2 mm (1/64 in) to 2 mm (5/64 in) and the liner thickness, become very easy to get a perfect die-cutting from the first cycle. System is complete with safety features that avoids the possible breaking of the die caused by a wrong adjustment. IMAGE DISTORTION SYSTEM (IDS) This software makes possible to automatically adapt dies created for cylinders of different development. Moreover, the software can widen or narrow up to 20% and maximum 5 die-cutting paths keeping constant the interspaced between them. Thanks to this distortion it is possible to use flexible dies created for magnetic cylinders with other developments and also to obtain a wider range of shapes with no need to buy and store new dies.

EXTREMELY VERSATILE
The L360 is proposed in different versions: • with single or double Laser source; • with Laser of 100 Watt, 250 Watt or 350 Watt; • with die-cutting system for paper or films, or both materials. These machines are very appreciated by label producers as they allow them to produce in a single process the die-cutting of any shape, other than perforation, micro-perforation, engraving, cutting, kiss-cutting and progressive/ regressive numbering. All the processes are digitally programmable in order to obtain in real-time products of the highest value.
ENERGY SAVING
The innovative energy saving technology stands out for the centralized management system of the drives power supply that allows for the sharing of energy between the motors during the operation of the machine. SPEED AND PRECISION

The TFE350 is extremely precise thanks to the LPS centring system, with which it is possible to accurately correct with centesimal precision the gap errors detected on the pre-printed materials.

The machine SN161 is specifically designed to perform high quality silk screen printing on flexible materials in roll such as ribbons, narrow fabrics, elastics with all kind of IR silk screen inks. The preparation of new jobs is easy and fast and makes this machine suitable to fulfil short and long runs. The reliability of the materials used to build this machine and the quality of the electronic components allows to work at the highest speed with every kind of silk screen inks, even puffed. The frame is positioned lengthwise in order to gain speed during the forth movement of the ribbon which comes out from the printing area while the spatula returns to its original position. At the output, an IR oven allows to perfectly dry any kind of printing.
